It might be bay marie style, but you are assured a quick and very tasty meal from Darby Raj - the combos with naan are great - garlic naan is very good. There is the typical fare of rogan josh, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, but hey, it is always good quality and great value at Darby Raj. Comparable to restaurant quality curries but at a fraction of the price and with a very casual outlook.

This review is for Papillon Chinese Takeaway, Cooks Hill NSW

Do not let appearances turn you away, this is not your average Chinese takeaway restaurant. There are two menus to choose from - choose from the incredible Hong Kong and authentic one as you won't be disappointed. Clearly a great chef and we also had some great, very friendly staff. The rice and noodle dishes are very good - the short soup is also quality.

This review is for Surtaj Indian Restaurant, Newcastle NSW

In some pretty challenging circumstances, Surtaj Restaurant staff made our Buck's night dinner a really good experience - a great stop off between nightspots. We rolled up without a booking, with a group of eight, and quite late in the night. The staff were brilliant - and played along with some of the friendly banter from the Buck's slightly inebriated mates. The food was very tasty - the naan's were brilliant and the curries were very good. Pretty reasonable price also between the eight of us. Really appreciated the experience guys - we will be back (in smaller and less drunk numbers).

This review is for Schultes Meat Tavern, Plainland QLD

Pretty much heaven for the meat eaters in the family - when I first saw the words 'meat' and 'tavern', I felt as though a part of my life that I didn't even know existed had been fulfilled. There are fresh meats of all types, a great range of processed meats (such as Toowoomba wurst) and other local produce such as wines from the South Burnett and the Granite Belt. Certainly worth a look if you are in-between Brisbane and Toowoomba.

This review is for Sausage King, Toowoomba QLD

Let the name speak for itself - The Sausage King is rightfully named and it comes as no surprise that many an award has been won by this butcher. So many flavours to try out - we also tried the spinach and pine nut and these were very impressive, but don't stop at these - grab a couple of kilograms of the other types - sometimes the simplest beef sausages are the best from here.

This review is for Thai Royal Restaurant, Centenary Heights QLD

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

We lived in Toowoomba for a number of years and discovered through trial and error that Thai Royal Restaurant was the BEST Thai cuisine in our town, by a mile. In fact, it would be the best Thai restaurant in a big city if located there - it is fantastic. The staff are brilliant - very friendly and knowledgeable. The location is very relaxed - part of a little shopping precinct in Centenary Heights (the Sausage King nearby is pretty good also!). The Penang curry and the Green curry dishes are just beautiful - subtle sweetness is what I love about them. The Pad Thai is also very good. Prices are always reasonable - a great experience all round. Highly recommended if you are in Toowoomba.

This review is for Chutney Mary Tandoori & Curry House, Toowoomba QLD

This is a very well known restaurant in Toowoomba's CBD - the curries themselves that we had were of acceptable quality - the mango chicken did taste a little too sweet, but the butter chicken was much better. Chicken tikka masala was good also. Unfortunately, it is the service at this place which lets it down, utterly rude and in general, disappointing. Takeaway would be a better experience (which is a sad thing to say for any restaurant!).

This review is for Sushi Hiroba, Springfield QLD

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

The presentation of sushi always has a big influence on whether or not I'll give it a go, and Sushi Hiroba's presentation was pretty good today. The range of options are refreshing - sweet chilli chicken, crispy chicken and avocado, and of course the old faithful chicken teriyaki, California rolls, etc. At $2.40 for each maki roll, it is quite good value - most places these days charge at least $3.00 each. Importantly, the taste - it was really quite good - but unfortunately, the nori seaweed was a little tough and the meat was overcooked (better than being undercooked I guess!). Not too bad a place though - probably more child-friendly than its competitor, I-Sushi.

This review is for Grace Takeaway Fish And Chips, Wynnum QLD

verified email - 01 Jan 2013

Grace Takeaway Fish and Chips is generally the least busiest takeaway shop in the area, but it really isn't too bad if you are at Wynnum and have the family at the wading pool or the whale park area (which I might add is awesome). The staff are always friendly and the prices are good. The chips have been brilliant on all occasions and the range of seafood is surpisingly good. Definitely worth a visit - take the fish and chips across the road and enjoy Brisbane's relaxing bayside.

This review is for Lota Takeaway, Lota QLD

verified email - 01 Jan 2013

On first appearances, the little Lota Takeaway shop looked quite good - a pretty classic, old style menu with all manner of deep fried goodness, along with some healthy options liked grilled fish that you'd expect these days. The price appeared pretty reasonable and the staff were very friendly. Sadly, the chips were the best part of the meal, but they weren't anything special. There was excessive oil on the fish and the seafood sticks, and the grilled fish looked more like fish jerky - being fairly dried out and quite small. This place could improve so much with just a little more quality in the food.
