There is some serious competition for the sushi market at Westfield Garden City - Top Sushi is amongst the best out there - there is a good range of maki rolls available and the cost is pretty reasonable (around $2.40 each in general). There is always a good line up at Top Sushi - the service is efficient and relatively friendly. I just went the standard California roll as a bit of a snack and it was actually pretty good quality.

This review is for Gelare, South Brisbane QLD

We overlooked a number of other dessert places along Little Stanley Street and went to Gelare on a recommendation. Let's just say that the recommendation was a poor one - the service was poor - despite our prompting, there was no offer of advice or just a little taste (like you get at most places). The ice cream and gelati itself was under par - it was half melted when purchased (admittedly it is hot this time of year in Brisvegas, but turn down the fridge, you're an ice cream shop after all!!). The product was not eaten by finished by three of the four of us (I ate all mine, but it was not the best ice cream I've eaten!). Unfortunately, not a massive selection available either.

This review is for Ole Restaurant, South Brisbane QLD

Ole Tapas Restaurant was a great experience for us and two of our friends - I was a little sceptical to start with, but the service was very friendly (I think that the Spanish accent was authentic!) and the food was varied and great tasting. We got a $55 special which included a jug of the delicious white sangria, two small tapas and two raciones (slightly larger dishes). This was surprisingly enough for us - and left room for dessert. A very good experience all round. Will be back when next at Little Stanley Street!

This review is for Addiction Cafe & Asian Restaurant, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD

I agree with some of the more recent reviewers - we went to Addiction last week after not having been there for a couple of years. The yum cha (though not on trolleys) was very good - great variety of well priced dishes - we were full after 5-6 of them, and its location is excellent - being in the alfresco precinct of Garden City Shopping Centre. Very punctual service also and a good experience all round!

This review is for Sushi Go Round, Browns Plains QLD

We weren't expecting too much from a suburban sushi train that wasn't one of the bigger names, but Sushi Go Round was a pleasant surprise for us. We were seated quickly, the place was kinda busy and there was plenty of sushi on the 'railway'. We had a few dishes, and they were excellent quality - fresh and very tasty, but unfortunately, there wasn't too much in the way of variety - we just kept on seeing the same dishes coming around. Really friendly staff and great prices - excellent value compared to other similar sushi shops. Recommended that you give this place a go!!!

This review is for The Local Bean Cafe, Kenmore QLD

We went to The Local Bean Cafe this morning to meet up with some friends of ours for brunch. The latte was a cut above what you'd typically get, and the iced coffees and frappes were great also. The food was really good - we had poached eggs, foccacia, mushrooms and grilled haloumi - a beautifully executed meal. The service was a little inexperienced, but good all the same. Great, suburban and casual location - great place and great start time if you are an early riser (5:30am most days!). We will be back here!

This review is for VB Kitchen Chinese Restaurant & Asian Cuisine, Springfield QLD

No fellas, this takeaway restaurant doesn't use your favourite brew in its dishes (well not to my knowledge), but it is certainly a workmanlike little shop. While the dishes offered are certainly western-style, they are done quite well. The service isn't too bad - the meals were done really quickly and I got the thumbs up from the 3 year old for the sweet and sour pork dish that we had. Pretty good value - it stacks up pretty well in terms of price compared to Thai Bupha and the the Springlake Hotel.

This review is for Fudge Heaven, Tamborine Mountain QLD

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

Usually places will just do a little fudge on the side, but this shop is dedicated to a wonderful variety of fudges (with some ice cream). I wish that I could have tasted more (free tastings were available), and the Adults Only fudges are really unique. It was busy the day that we went (last Sunday), but still, the service was really friendly and the fudges aren't too badly priced.

This review is for Punjab Curry Club, Springfield Lakes QLD

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

For a suburban Indian place, the Punjab Curry Club is not a bad option - it isn't a world beater, but it is somewhere that I go to regularly when in the area. The service is what stands out here - when I have been waiting for takeaway, I have often been seated and provided with some appetisers - papadums with raita and chutneys - a really nice touch. Look, give this place a go - the curries aren't too bad - like all Indian food, it is difficult to make attractive, but it is more than acceptable.

This review is for A Night In India, Toowong QLD

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

A night in India was recommended to me by a friend, who said it was probably the best Indian restaurant in Brisbane. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations - though the service was very professional, many of the dishes that we had were bland - the saag gosht was certainly far from the best that we have tried. Still searching for a truly great Indian restaurant.... any suggestions anyone??
