This review is for Sushi Bay, Belconnen ACT

Went to Sushi Bay tonight for a quick takeaway bite. Upon entering, the whole staff went up in arms with a bit of a cheer, which was a good start (it felt a little like I was entering a gameshow). The service was friendly and attentive - explaining what I needed to do for the takeaway option. The dishes were many and varied, a really good range and extremely fresh (nothing stale). Price was pretty high, but hey, with a sushi-train style, at least you know what you're getting and for what price. Really nice and airy restaurant with good atmosphere - very much recommended - a cut above the other stock standard sushi places at Westfield Belconnen!

What appears to be a bit of a dinky little shop is a virtual world of seafood when one enters the Aussie Seafood House. The range is really impressive - lots of locally caught fish and all manner of crustaceans and squid, along with some imported fish also. The frozen section is good if you need to buy in bulk. Highly recommended for that side of Brisbane - it is a surprisingly good experience.

This review is for 16th On Park, Milton QLD

Went here on Thursday night, it was very quiet on Park Road so we had our pick of the places - on first appearances, 16th on Park is a very attractive, sophisticated venue. Service was extremely friendly and casual. Quality of the coffee was acceptable, however for dessert we had the chocolate fondant cake, which was overcooked and with no fondant in the centre... quite disappointing for the $15-16 price tag. Obviously, only one dessert tried, but it is worth a shot otherwise - perhaps the execution is better in some of the other dishes.

Approximate cost: $16

This review is for Lido, Acacia Ridge QLD

After reading some of the reviews on WOMO, we headed down to the Lido Chinese Restaurant last night (despite the weather) - we weren't disappointed - for a fairly unassuming place, the service was very friendly (including free Prawn chips). The spring rolls were clearly made on premises and the fried rice was just like mum's - really impressive. The Singapore noodles were excellent, as was the BBQ pork and plum sauce. Price was quite good for five dishes plus two lots of spring rolls came to $70.

This review is for Fishes Cafe, Point Lookout QLD

The view from Point Lookout certainly adds to Fishes Cafe - the food itself is passable, and the service is friendly (as it is everywhere on North Stradbroke Island!). Didn't take too long for the food to be prepared, which was surprising because it was a busy Saturday lunch time with beautiful weather. Not a bad Fish and Chips place - my meal was great, the wife's chicken burger could have been better (was a schnitzel burger, but lacked something to set it apart.... perhaps a homemade relish or something would be better?!)

This review is for Wok 888, Mount Ommaney QLD

Pretty run of the mill Chinese fast food at Mt Ommaney shops - massive bay marie of options available, but some of it looked a little old to be honest. I had the wonton soup - not too bad quality, but only four wontons, which was a little disappointing. Service was friendly and helpful. Not bad, not great....

A good lunch, not a great lunch. We had the 2 person pack, which included two pieces of cod, small chips, some calamari and a couple of seafood sticks for $23 - this was pretty good value to be honest, but the girl on service got it wrong - I specifically asked for one battered, one crumbed, but they both came out crumbed - not to worry, a little more attention to customers wouldn't go astray. Chips weren't too terrible... great location though, which gets this place over the line.

This review is for Gourmet Pizzas Parkinson, Parkinson QLD

Still the same owner, but a different sign out the front - the pizzas and breads are fantastic, as are the ribs. We had the chorizo with tomato pizza and the cashew pizza and they really were first class. Great service from Mark - he really is a character and often does specials via his FB page. Excellent all round and highly recommended - the freshest ingredients are used here - we'll be back!

We went to this place following a movie last night and it was really very good - it is very much representative of the similar shop up at Maroochydore Shopping Centre - which prompted me to buy the Maroochy Burger - talk about a big meal! The staff were very relaxed and friendly - in keeping with the whole place to be honest. Plenty of people at this place also, which made it a fantastic atmosphere all round. Highly recommended for an inexpensive but very filling meal.

We stopped here for a coffee and a light meal - we ordered the trio of dips. The service was quite slow and though it was hot, there could have been a little more urgency. The coffee was quite well done - no complaints on this front. The trio of dips however, were atrocious - it was slopped on and they were mixed in. Two of the three dips didn't taste too crash hot. Wouldn't be back here in a hurry - it is a fail for me.
