Organising a funeral for a loved one can be quite overwhelming. This was our first time organisaing a funeral and Oakdale were amazing. While I was doing my research, Anne spent a great deal of time over the phone talking me through the process, the timing and potential costs of a funeral before we engaged them. By the end of our discussion I was very comfortable with the process and more importantly we were comfortable with Anne and what it would be like working with her during such a difficult period of our lives. We selected Oakdale to direct the funeral and Anne to be celebrant. By the end of our opening meeting everybody knew what we had to do and when we had to do it by and we had selected most of the items that impacted cost. The next day we had a cost estimate before any money was spent. Anne and Oakdale did everything else touching base every couple of days to keep everything on track. On the day of the funeral Anne managed the proceedings and fulfilled the celebrants role perfectly. Our family and friends were comforted that we were able to provide my brother with a funeral he would have been proud of. From a cost perspective we felt that we spent our money wisely on the things that were important and not on the things that weren't. Our experience with Oakdale and their suppliers was very professional as was their outputs. Overall we achieved everything we wanted out of the funeral, with minimal effort and cost while the most important human elements of care, compassion and professionalism significantly reduced the burden of organising a funeral. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't hesitate to engage Oakdale again should the need arise.

I spent a long time looking for someone to organise my mother's funeral. I've never had to do anything like this before - and honestly I felt overwhelmed by the choices out there. I'm so glad I eventually chose Oakdale Funerals.

Anne was amazing! She took the time come over to our house and really listen to my family's story and guide me through everything. As a celebrant she really took onboard the nuances of our unusual family dynamic and delivered the eulogy in a sensitive and honest way that was very important to us. Everything about the funeral really reflected who mum was - particularly the amazing and unique floral array that suited mum more that I could have ever hoped for.

There was also no upselling pressure - I was genuinely just presented with options and ideas. The overall cost actually ended up working out quite a bit cheaper than other estimates, and there was definitely no feeling of compromise in the quality.

For those of you in my position - lost and confused with the stress and worry of organising a funeral for a loved one - I really can't recommend Oakdale Funerals enough.

It’s hard to articulate just how grateful we are that Anne and David took care of every detail for my father's funeral. In our time of grief, the incredible gentleness and genuine care that they demonstrated throughout the whole process was paramount to making it that little less painful. The service went so smoothly and beautifully and Anne and David made it all happen in under a week as we had requested a specific date. They were so understanding and accommodating and the fact that we were never once stressed or even slightly worried about any aspect of the viewing, the service or the cremation is truly a testament to their professionalism and the high regard in which they must be held in the industry. Above all, it was their patience, kindness and genuine care that was so heartfelt that we will never forget.

I am so glad we chose Oakdale Funerals. I have never needed to organise a funeral before so I started by researching big brand funeral homes. However, when I was researching reviews and asking for recommendations, Oakdale was recommended. Chosing a small business meant that we had personalised service, Anne came to our home on Saturday, her warmth was exactly what we needed at the time. We even had a bit of a laugh, it was like sitting with an old friend. Funeral went beautifuly, we opted for Hot Rod hearse which really is special. We can't recommend Anne and David highly enough. We saved a lot, which wasn't a main consideration but was great as it left extra funds for other things that needed to be organised. It also felt good supporting a small business, we live at the time when small businesses need a helping hand, large ones seem to be looking after themselves.

I would like to let other people know what I now know. When losing someone close its sad and overwhelming and if it falls on you to organise the funeral service it’s a lot to take on and often, it’s not something you are familiar with. They helped us navigate the various requirements. They took the unnecessary stress out of what is already a stressful time. Our family appreciated so much the manner in which Anne helped organize our Dad's funeral. Anne was a wealth of information and gently guided us through the whole process. Both she and David were so professional and just knew when, and what to say, at the exact moment!
