This review is for Vermont Terrace Gift Shop, Vermont South VIC

This shop is like Aladdin's Cave - full of goodies. Over the last seven or so years we have bought gifts for new babies, toddlers, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, overseas friends and colleagues; gifts for Christenings, First Communion, Birthdays, Christmas, Easter... The owner and her staff are always polite and helpful. We return time after time and find something special and a little bit different each visit.

This review is for Muddings at Kingsway Bakery, Glen Waverley VIC

We regularly buy from Muddings, particularly for special occasions. This week, we purchased party sausage rolls, a family size apple pie and a honey swiss roll. All were delicious. Muddings is also a great place to stop for lunch or a snack, and a decent cup of coffee. Their birthday cakes are wonderful and it has become something of a family tradition to purchase our Birthday Cakes from Muddings. The service is always friendly and efficient.

This review is for Orthodontist, Dr Michael J. Kirshon, Glen Waverley VIC

Dr Kirshon was patient and efficient in his examinations of our daughter. His interaction with her has been positive and supportive. He explained to both parent and child what he felt was necessary and how best to go about achieving the desired result. We didn't have to wait long between the initial consultation and starting treatment, which is progressing well.

This children's bedroom furniture shop may not be the least expensive but the products for sale are good quality, nearly all locally made/manufactured and attractive. We have just bought a king size single and trundle bed and mattresses for our daughter and we are very pleased. The service was outstanding - patient and informative. We made three visits in all, each seeking different information and involving a change of specifications. The transaction was easy - make a deposit (approx 30%) and then the rest is paid upon delivery. The delivery charge is reasonable and the wait is reasonable, considering the bed needs to be made for us.

This review is for Euroa Hot Bread Bakery Cafe, Euroa VIC

verified email - 10 Nov 2010

We don't live in Euroa but stop often when traveling between Victoria and NSW/ACT. This bakery cafe is a great place to stop for morning tea, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. There is always a great range of pies and sausage rolls and pasties, there is a sandwich bar and there is a great selection of sweet treats. Additionally, you can buy a great range of breads and rolls. The Cafe sells the usual coffee and hot chocolate variations and there is a fridge with a range of cold drinks, if you prefer. There is plenty of seating inside, as well as some on the footpath outdoors. The service is always courteous and prompt, even when busy. Our family particuarly enjoys the wagon wheels, meringues and neenish tarts. We return to this bakery cafe because the service is great, the food and drinks are high quality, and the space is clean and friendly.

This review is for Grants On Sherbrooke, Kallista VIC

This restaurant and gift shop is just at the entrance of Grants Reserve (at Grants Picnic Ground), in Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenongs. There are some lovely walks - one suitable for young children and people wishing to take a stroll (only a kilometre or so) up to more ambitious, hours long walks. You can buy seeds ($1/bag) from the gift shop if you wish to feed the many parrots that visit the Picnic Ground - including cockatoos, galahs and rosellas. This is a great activity for all visitors.

The restaurant is smart but casual, reasonably priced and has a menu that caters to children and adults. You can eat on the deck outside, weather permitting. The service is invariably courteous and understanding of children, if a bit slow sometimes (when very busy).

The gift shop has a very wide range of Australian-themed merchandise, ranging from clothes, toys, manchester, hats and other giftware. It is especially good for those wishing to buy gifts to take or send overseas, or for visitors wishing to take home an 'Australian' memento.

We love this place and usually have breakfast or lunch there after a walk. We visit every three months or so.

This review is for The Nobbies Centre, Summerlands VIC

verified email - 05 Nov 2010

There is a great display area inside the Nobbies Centre that has great information about the sea and sea life in the area around Phillip Island. When working, there are cameras that offer a view of the Seal colony off the Nobbies. There is a fantastic boardwalk that takes you around the visitor's centre and lets you observe the nesting bird colonies. In early November, the silver gulls were nesting and we were able to see roosting birds, chicks of all ages and all sorts of comings and goings. The scenery is spectacular, the boardwalk is well maintained, there is a cafe and children's play area inside for inclement weather and the gift shop has a range of merchandise with prices starting at less than $2.

We arrived after 8pm on a cold Friday night, tired after traveling for a couple of hours, and needed to be fed well and quickly. The menu included a good variety of dishes, suitable for both children and adults. Everyone in the family found a dish to suit their taste (pasta and pizza) and the same was true of drinks. The service was excellent, helpful and unobtrusive and polite. A bonus was the paper 'tablecloth' which we were able to decorate before, during and after dinner. Then, we got to take it with us! My husband left his hat behind and was able to go and collect it the next day without any drama. Next time, we will try some of the more 'exotic' dishes!

This review is for Alvina Holiday Cottages, Ventnor VIC

verified email - 05 Nov 2010

This accommodation is situated on a small farm on Phillip Island. We didn't actually stay in one of the cottages but in an apartment attached to the owners' residence. The accommodation was clean, tidy and comfortable - cosy on a cold, wet weekend. Breakfast supplies were included in the tariff, including cereal, spreads, a litre of milk and a loaf of bread, which we considered generous. Parking was undercover, which was welcome considering the weather. Everything we wanted to do and see was easily accessible by car. We arrived late - about 7.30pm - but were welcomed in person in a courteous manner. All in all, a great place to stay for comfortable accommodation and self-catering independence.

We needed accommodation on a holiday weekend, at short notice and hadn't managed to find it using other on-line services. We tried this service and found a suitable place straight away. We confirmed availability of accommodation, booked it and paid for it using this service and doing it all on line. Accommodation was identified and confirmed all within a couple of hours.
