This review is for Fresh Chilli Thai Restaurant, Laverton VIC

Fresh Chilli is my favourite Thai restaurant in Melbourne. It is always booked out so many other people must think the same as me! You only need to book on the day or one day before and they will fit you in, however often we will just have takeaway. My favourite dish is the cashew chicken-plenty of cashews and it tastes wonderful with the coconut rice. The do a good set menu which is great if you are going there with a group. Another item to try is the roti bread with satay sauce-so good! Service is usually amazing, but on one occasion we were left waiting quite a while for service, but that won't stop us from going back.

This review is for Jock's Icecream, Albert Park VIC

Jock's plum pudding ice cream is so delicious I'll be ensuring I come here every Christmas. The ice creams are very creamy and smooth and they have a nice selection of flavours. It is only a small shop but worth the experience.

This review is for Rockpool Bar & Grill, Southbank VIC

I took my partner here for his 25th birthday and it was such a memorable evening. We were seated at an intimate table that was never noisy and nice mood lighting. The waiters know their product and are very friendly. Our steak and chicken was delicious and filling, the bread was so fresh and the desserts were delicious. That salted caramels are so nice, so if you can squeeze something in at the end of the meal try them! Rockpool is definitely for a special occasion as it isn't cheap, but it will be a meal to remember.

This review is for Dendy Deli, Brighton VIC

I've been to Dendy Deli a few times and every time the service has been horrible. Often you have to seat yourself, and then you are waiting 5-10 minutes for a menu and then another 10mins to order drinks. They have a good selection of cakes and drinks but you would think with the number of staff they have on duty, that some would be working. I have complained to the manager before about the lack of service and nothing has changed as he seemed not to care. There are so many better cafes to grab a drink or feed at before you head to the movies there.

This review is for The Groove Train, Brighton VIC

verified email - 14 Aug 2013

The Groove train is a great place to go when you don't want anything too fancy, and you want to be full for a decent price. They have a big selection of items on the menu and the occasional special. It can get quite loud on the weekends as there are many families that come here for birthdays. My favourite thing from Groove Train is the Nutella strawberry calzone-a sweet, folded over pizza. It's big enough to share between two but one dessert lover can finish it off.

This review is for LuxBite, South Yarra VIC

Luxbite was a place I so fortunately wandered upon one day. They do fantastic macarons in a nice selection-one of my favourites is the ribena, also the sour strawberry is very good too. The sell a raspberry lychee dessert sized Macaron and it is so so good. It is one of the best desserts I have had in Melbourne. There isn't a heap of seating inside, but it isn't usually so busy that there's not enough space. The waiters are also very friendly and will offer you some tips if you don't know what to order.

This review is for Nando's, Bentleigh VIC

verified email - 14 Aug 2013

Nandos in Bentleigh is a small shop with room for about 15 people outside and some seats outside. In winter the seating is very limited so it is best to just grab takeaway. The food is on par with other Nandos-freshly made burgers and wraps and chips that can have a tasty peri peri salt added to it. Service can be improved with a bit of a smile and a bit more welcoming attitude.

This review is for Peninsula Hot Springs, Fingal VIC

I've only been to the main section here but I really enjoyed it. My tip would be to go on a cooler day as you will enjoy the warm and hot pools a lot more. I love the cold little plunge pools-they really get your blood flowing. The also have a nice few pools that are a bit more hidden away. It's not cheap but if you have a spare morning or afternoon it is well worth the relaxation.

This review is for Capital Kitchen, Chadstone VIC

I've always thought that Capitol Kitchen would be a bit too fancy for me but when I finally went in for lunch one day I really enjoyed it! They have a great range of lunch items including fresh baguettes and salads. I find the savoury items to be quite well priced but the sweet items are very expensive for what they are so I have stuck with savoury. The service is friendly and the food takes an average time to get to your table. This is nice place to catch up with friends.

This review is for Chocolateria San Churro, Cheltenham VIC

verified email - 14 Aug 2013

San Churros is my favourite place to go for dessert, especially before heading to the movies. I've probably tried 70% of their menu so I'm glad I have a 10% off card! (You can get these once you have bought 10 hot drinks-cards at the front). Everything I've eaten there has tasted great but my favourites would be the Churros, the ice cream sundae with brownies, the cookie cha cha shake and the thick hot chocolates. The only reason I haven't given them five stars is that they seem to have a high staff turnover rate so often tables aren't cleared or younger staff don't know the product well. The manager however is great and knows my regular order so it's good to feel like you're welcome there.

Approximate cost: $5-9
