This review is for Dandenong Pavilion, Dandenong VIC

A piece of Melbourne in Dandy? Went to the Dandenong Pavilion for lunch on a weekday, it was very busy, with a lot of other business lunches happening, so it was quite loud. There is a nice bar area, and good seating arrangements for lunch. We chose to sit outside in the sunshine. The lunch menu is well priced, a foccacia for under $12, and the service is friendly. However, we had to return the vegetarian foccacia, as there was limited vegies in it, the staff happily took the plate away, and made a new foccacia, with much more filling. No hard feelings, as it was dealt with appropriately, and we ended up very happy with our lunch.

This review is for Misty's 1950's Diner, Prahran VIC

The saying 'It could only happen in America....' comes to mind when I hit Misty's for a meal. It can only happen in America where the sugar and calories are hundreds, when there are pork spare ribs and rance sauce on the menu, but most imporantly, its only in America when EVERYTHING (even the 'French Fries') are EXTRA LARGE!!! Walking back into the 1950's is what happens when you enter Misty's welcoming diner, not taccy or overclassed like Hard Rock, Misty's is original, with booth seating and candy cola's surrounding.
A highlight....Misty herself, her enthusiasm abounds and you cant help but get caught up in the moment and ask for extra chocolate sauce on an already over compensated by choccie sauce brownie.
Loved the meal, pretty cheap as well, for the servings were really big. You will come home full, and probably with a few extra cans of Canadian Dry and some candy!

This review is for Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 11 Dec 2007

There really is nothing more traditional than getting up at the crack of dawn and heading to the ole Queen Vic Market...with dodgy trolley (that has a mind of its own!). Don't let the loud butchers and grocerers deterr you, it all just adds to the atmosphere. Rows of bargains, with fresh fruit aplenty, be prepared to serve yourself at some stores, but most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The meat market is quite a bit confronting so early in the morning, but its your chance to get the prized piece of eye fillet. Great bargains. Then, on the way back to your car, you can stop off at the deli to get some dips and other gourmet goodies. Also a large variety of coffee shops, just what you need after all the market excitement. There is usually car parking on the side streets at this time of day for free.

This review is for Paesano Restaurant, Wantirna South VIC

Went to Paesano at Knox Ozone for a sporting get together. They cater for large groups, with long tables. The Restaurant is usually pretty busy and so it is sometimes difficult to hear the conversation. The meals are satisfactory, with entree sizes for pasta being ample for the average eater. Service was polite and helpful.

This review is for Dairy Bell Ice Cream, Bayswater North VIC

On a hot day, cold day, any day, its ice-cream day. And the place to go is Dairy Bell, where the ice cream is fresh and creamy, with numerous flavours and toppings. The Sundae's are a real treat, with 3 massive scoops of ice cream, followed by nuts, hot chocolate fudge and nuts...mmmm. All at a reasonable price.

This review is for Hush Bar, Wantirna South VIC

verified email - 11 Dec 2007

After dinner at Knox Ozone, it was time to move on for a few drinks, and we headed straight for the inviting surrounds of Hush Bar. Unfortunately, it was anti-climatic. The drinks were expensive, and the coke in the bourbon's was very flat and sickly. It was also disappointing that drinks were left from previous customers on our table...but even more so, that the drinks stayed there for over an hour!! The atmopshere is cool and funky, and the seating arrangements outside comfortable and appropriate with wooden gatherings.

This review is for The Coffee Club, Forest Hill VIC

ICED CHOCOLATE!!! I am not sure if it happens at all Coffee Club franchises, but at Forest Hill I was subject to the most beautiful, tantalizing, enjoyable Iced Chocolate I have EVER had. Massive statement I know, but the liquid chocolate which sinks to the bottom followed by fresh full cream milk splashed with ice cream and topped with a delicious cream and chocolate powder is to die for. It is reasonably priced, with an extra piece of chocolate on top. You have to try one, as I am yet to be disapointed and keep going back for more!!

This review is for ELV Recyclers, Springvale VIC

verified email - 11 Dec 2007

My old car blew up on the side of the road, there was no point in getting it towed back home, or to a mechanics. So, I fould ELV, End of Life Vehicle Recyclers. All you have to do is fill out a form on the net, or call them up, and they organise (without you even being there) to tow away your old car or wreck straight to the recyclers....and they send you out the cheque!! I got $120 for my old car, when it would have been over $250 to tow. No hassles.

Absolutely shocking! What can I say, this dealership is run by the one family, and for this reason, when you complain to the boss about service....nothing is going to ever happen. Negotiated for a new car, and all that was required was the finance. Finance Manager rang through the next day, saying how much a week....when I finally got it out of him the price of the car it had gone up unexplained by $3000! Once I refused the car, the service was unprofessional and rude. Not once did they offer to show me a different car more suited to my budget. As for unprofessional, when I went to show family members what was to be my 'new car' the doors were open and keys still in the ignition at 9pm at night on the grounds!!

This review is for The Geebung Polo Club, Hawthorn VIC

Sunday Session!!! The Bung, is the place to be on a Sunday afternoon, especially a sunny one. With a great selection of food for lunch, followed by a few beverages and an evening of dancing to a great coverband, you can't go wrong. Long tables outside means you can bring all your mates and sit comfortably to witness (check out!!) the talent and surroundings. The bar is well serviced, with not a long wait, and the atmosphere is classy, funky and fun. Give it a shot at the Geebung!
