This review is for The Oxford Tavern, Petersham NSW

am totally loving this place. The oxford tavern used to be the home of female jelly wrestling and there is a tributre to this past in the mega 'jelly wrestle' dessert- $20, for sharing, no cutlery; you get gloves. We didnt make it this far, however having opted for the BBQ. The meat is on display and you choise the type and amt you want, pay per 100gma. there are lamb ribs, pork ribs, piulled pork, beef brisket and others. The meat comes with slaw and a bun and you can add extras like beans, salad and tatter tots for extra. There is a menu also, but its a challenge to go past the BBQ. there are specials at lunch during the week and larger and smaller options for people not wanting meat. Bit or a dude-food, rockabilly vibe happening.

Approximate cost: $20

lunch on a sunday was pretty quite. i think there were more people in the front bar drinking beer than eating. the menu is good, enough choice for those that want good regular pub food and those that want something more fancy- thinking salmon etc etc . the staff are nice and ameneable to requests and will try to accommodate you dietry needs or desires. Cheap and cheerful.

Approximate cost: $15-20

one word...disappointing. The food was good, the service was good, but there was nothing really special here for me. The lamb ribs were a stand out, but nothing else really lit my fire. Being a regular visitor to vietnamese places in marrickville and further afield, you cant help but compare. The decor was certainly superior but the food was on par at twice the price.

This review is for Bar H, Surry Hills NSW

i really liked bar H. its small and intimate, and the food is good. Mod-asian (whatever that means nowadays). the food is fresh and tasty and its a little different from the norm . the dishes are for sharing and come one at a time. its a little more reasonable priced than other places serving similar fare. the menu is interesting and the plates provide tasty morsels, the more diners the more tastes. we were a table of 6 and had to order 2 of some dishes due to the size, to allow each person a reasonable mouthful.

Approximate cost: $60-80

This review is for Sake, Sydney NSW

sake is a little hidden place on argyle st. big on the inside, deceptively so, from first imopressions. the staff are slick, and so they should be given the price. Its not cheap, but the food is top notch. The fish is oh-so-fresh and there are some interesting twists for the well initiated. someone in the kitchen likes thier sashimi with jalepenos!, but there is trad food here too. they diches are served for sharing, one at a time so its very easy to overorder and overeat (not to mention drink a bucketload- so watch out) a good option for a special occasion, bit expensivce for an everyday visit.

Approximate cost: $70-90 per person

This review is for New Theatre, Newtown NSW

a true fan of local theatre. I am a regular visitor to new theatre (as an audience member). Its cheap for live theatre and the productions are great. Sure, there is the occasional miss, but on the whole its intimate and relaxed. Expect to pay 30-35$ a show for an adult. It plays interesting plays and musicals- to kill a mockingbird was fantastis, privates on parade was great! and also participates in mardi gras and short and sweet. i wholeheartedly recommend supporting independant theatre, i have seen shows here which are just as good as the stc etc etc

Approximate cost: $30-35$

my local- lucky me. Its comfy, reliable and good. Wine, beer etc etc with a few different areas depending on how many people and the weather- the courtyard is nice (but be wary if you are a non smoker...). i prefer inside overlooking king st. A bit of people watching is endlessly entertaining. there sfood upstairs and they have sav blanc on tap! - its not great but imminently drinkable. friendly, comfy and reliable. see you there.

This review is for Concord Plumbing Services, Cabarita NSW

a friend referred me to Clay- he is the principle of concord plumbing services and i found hime reliable, accessible and responsive to calls, enquiries and emails. So far, so good. He is pretty flexible and well priced compared to other quotes i had for my guttering. I woudn't hesitate to recommend for roofing/guttering services. I havent tried the plumbing.

This review is for Master Framing, Alexandria NSW

very good service and excellent quality work. there are lots of frames to choose from, the framing work is excellent and well priced. They were efficient and my pictures were ready when promised (actually, before hand). What i liked most were the business hours. Master framers open very early so you can drop things in before work.

'ok'- apt description. If you cant get the chinatown or hurstville (or even ashfield) this place will do. Its more expensive than the other asian hubs, and not quite as fresh- understandable given the likely slower turnover. the service is ok- you feel like you are dragging grandma (ah-por) away from the tv, but although not that friendly is reasonable efficient. The standards are available- bbq pork, custard buns and so on.

Approximate cost: $2.50
