This review is for Paul's Famous Hamburgers of Sylvania, Sylvania NSW

Pauls is a pretty good place, they make good burgers and everything is fresh.
The mistake most people make is they listen to a person who grew up in the shire rave about Pauls and then they gets disappointed after hearing the amazing stories of how good it is.
A little history, Pails holds a special place in the hearts of people my Dads age. In the 70's everything used to close early especially on the weekend so when you left the city after a night out there was no drive through macas or dirty kebab shop, from the city to the shire there was only Pauls to get something to eat at night. Being the only place open it was where everyone went so it has this mythical reputation of being the best burgers in the world because at some point in their lives to many shire folk it was. It's sort of like Harry's cafe de wheels, very good quality food now but the legend most likely stated with some hung-over guy swearing “it was the best burger I ever had!!!”
Its a good place but just don't go there expecting more than a good burger place

Really great local business, they are just round the corner from up so we usually pick up and it makes their prices very affordable.
They have a big range and a good selection of Veggie pizzas with is great for us.

This review is for Doyles At Sydney Fish Markets, Pyrmont NSW

I really got the feeling that Doyles at the Fish Markets were trading off their good name.
We ordered the days special of a grilled seafood plate for about $25 and garlic king prawns for $15.
The grilled seafood plate was ok, sort of thing i'd be happy to get at a pub but not really the standard i would have expected at Doyles, slightly rubbery calamari and over cooked prawns
the Garlic Prawns were tiny and i mean Tiny, 6 prawns in a little prawn cocktail cup, really poor value and not that tasty.

Really don't pay the prices, totally not worth it

I used this company to for our wedding registry with flight centre. The flight centre that we used were very helpful but said they did their registry through this company.

It cost about $25 to set up. the form was complex and i had to call their service centre to get help.
The web address that they gave us to send our guests to was long and looked horrible on our invites
http://www.giftvouchers.com/Retailers/Flight_Centre/GiftRegistryHome.aspx

After the wedding we were sent the gift card and a sheet of paper which should have had the names of our guests and the amounts they gave us, the paper just had our name over and over and the amounts which didn't add up to the full amount.

When we went to spend the voucher the it read as locked and i called to get the card unlocked but the whole staff other than 2 new customer service people weren't working for the long weekend. No one could help me to get it unlocked.

There was talk of emails sent to managers and try to help but in the end it wasn't unlocked till i called back today, then it was fixed in a second.

I missed out on the flights we wanted and it cost me over $900 extra.

This review is for Cell Bikes, Stanmore NSW

verified email - 11 Feb 2011

The story from the start. Cell Bikes are partners of the Qantas store (meaning you can use your frequent flyers to buys things from them); we started emailing them back in September asking about their bikes and the ordering process. We placed an order in October for a ladies bikes and a men's bike. After we paid they told us they were out of stock of the ladies bike but will have them by the end of the month. October ended, no bike, at the end of November we were told Christmas blah blah blah early January. First week of February we emailed them to ask when the bike was due in, 3 days later we got an email from Qantas saying that our points had been refunded, no email or call from Cell.
We went into the store twice, once in October to get the size of the bike and once in January to see if we could get any communication face to face or swap to a different bike. Both times we were totally ignored by the staff and treated like it was an inconvenience to have us in store. I'm a pretty quiet and shy person I never made a fuss about this till now; every time I was in store I was very polite.
The service was just so awful, the way they ignored us was almost to the point of rudeness and I would advise to shop anywhere else.
I will also say that if you look at the Qantas store today they have bikes showing as in stock that they told us in September were old models and are not available. Without calling them you could well be in the same situations that we are.

This review is for Govinda's Restaurant & Movie Room, Darlinghurst NSW

This place is one of Sydney's little treasures. So the deal is that for $29 you get all you can eat amazing veggie meal and it is the best food. This is not a place to go if you are a diet because its very hard to stop eating, once you are done with the buffet try the chocolate moose, its so rich and yummy, share it with a friend.
After dinner you line up and go for a little lay down and watch a film, they usually have a mix of current films and a little bit of bollywood/art-house in the mix. don't feel shy if you fall asleep in the film, i have but just try not to snore.

Approximate cost: $29

This review is for Hoyts Cinema Paris, Moore Park NSW

verified email - 04 Jan 2011

I love this Cinema. As far as movie theaters go i think this is the best in Sydney with the possible exception of Govindas but that is for totally different reasons (see my next review)
This place is always neat and tidy. The seats are big and comfy and the atmosphere is great.
The staff are always really helpful, one even loaned me his personal phone the other day when i lost my husband.
The films they show tend to be more arty and interesting, not that i don't love a blockbuster but its nice to have a space thats so nice to see the less main stream films
