We ordered the seafood linguini and the buttermilk fried chicken burger. The piece of chicken itself was nice however the burger was suppose to have some sort of spicy mayonnaise. There was basically none which made the burger quite dry and plain. The Linguine was lacking flavor. ....described as white wine and butter. It was just an oily butter taste. Only one scallop a few small prawns some calamari and 2 mussels one of which was empty. Even the chips that came with the burger were average at best. They were supposed to be rosemary and garlic but couldn't taste either. All in all a very average dining experience one which won't be repeated.

I keep coming back to Creme in Altona but I'm not quite sure why. The service has never been great-the waiters seem to chat to each other a lot and are hardly busy, and you have to get your own water (a bit odd for a cafe now). The food is alright but nothing amazing. The chai lattes are ok but I won't be re-ordering. My favourite thing is the bread shop at the back of the shop as they sell super fresh bread and cute little pastries. Could definitely go for some new menu items that are better cooked and more enthusiastic staff.

The location of this place should make it a winner - along Pier Street with sea breezes wafting up from the beach and pier - even if they're a little cold. I like the outdoor seating. But getting the attention of wait staff is hard and sometimes they don't even look busy at all. Can't order from the bar, told you have to order through the staff ...

Coffee was pretty good though, when it came and friends liked the atmosphere and I guess they get a lot of tourists as first time customers. This is one of a number of eating options along here in this pleasant street, but the only cafe. There is also a park further down if you feel like more alfresco enjoyment.

Not bad but not stunningly good either.

Great value for money, decent size meals. Beautiful staff members, great atmosphere. Only down fall for me was it wasn't very child friendly. Is a beautiful place to go on a nice hot day.

Service was appalling. Staff stood around talking to each other and didn't give our table our cokes that we ordered 20 minutes prior. When the food was served staff failed to inform chefs of dietary requirements of our table and we ended up with the wrong food. When we also ordered we were told these changes could be made and when staff asked the chef we found out that they could not be. We also asked about certain dishes that we wanted on the menu and the majority of what we wanted was out of stock... At 7pm. Then when we refused to pay for our drinks and delayed meals (1 hour to be exact for just starters) management refused to reimburse after out clear display of dissatisfaction. If you like bring treated as a oaf who has no clue, go into anaphylactic shock or experience what it I'd like to be in high school or on the Jerry springer show then this would be the place to go.

Approximate cost: $23 for a Parma?

Good for breakfast, staff always look a bit on the zombie side, and are slow. Have been for dinner a few times and its very hit and miss as to times you get your meal. Its a shame because its a nice relaxed atmosphere. They do good coffee tho.

Approximate cost: $20

We visit Creme on a regular basis and love the casual atmosphere, great food and friendly service. Staff are always very helpful and they serve the best coffee in the west!

Approximate cost: $20

I'm sorry, but i totally disagree.
I'm from Altona, so there are very few places in Pier Street to dine in and have a meal. It's acknowledged that the atmosphere is fairly casual, which i enjoy, but there are three major flaws that can't be ignored.
First is the unfriendliness and unattenentiveness of their staff. It's apparent that the staff turnover is high, because I have rarely seen the same member twice, but is this any excuse for hiring poorly mannered dimwits?
Secondly, the food is certainly not worth what they are charging for it. I've been a number of times hoping that each time the food will improve, but it's sloppy and average in taste. It also takes forever to come out of the kitchen.
Thirdly, despite the 'casual atmosphere' of the place, the decor and layout render it dark and depressing, especially the further into the cafe you go.
It surprises me that creme has been around for so long given the above. But that's just my opinion, so i guess if you want to have your own then you'll just have to check it out.
