Not a Clarendon homeowner, but a "victim" living next door. Building a Clarendon home is a great way to make your neighbours hate you.

It's over a year since demolition and it's still a long way to go. I have seen nearby houses start months after this one and be finished months ago.

Their site preparations caused massive water runoff into our property, almost flooding our house. Clarendon completely ignored our plight and it took complaints to council before action was taken.

Excessively loud music and profanities from the tradesmen are common. While the contract with Clarendon prohibits this, they don't reinforce or enforce it. It is extremely tiring having to constantly go and ask them to turn the music down and tone their language down. The typical response is that they are incredulous that neighbours might wish to live their lives undisturbed.

Communication is almost impossible and the poor receptionist at Clarendon is left to carry the can. Is there any other possibility than that their management is either too busy to respond to complaints or they just don't care? Which is worse?

Moved into home late 2015 reported to them last week Dec2021 that I had a issue with a stacker door that now I have a lot of problem opening, when I try to pull it open its like the door is bent in the middle and the glass window and about to break.I believed that this would be covered as a major fault but was informed this is not so, looks like unless building falls down nothing is covered ,so I'm left with a back of the house entrance to my garden that I can't use. They promote them selfs as quality builder's also the wall the window sits in is not square bricklayers not so good as a bow in wall,Look elsewhere when looking for a new build because if you can't open your doors or windows in a few years time and they tell you your not covered what good are they,or their warrantys....Update they sent someone out to check door after complaining and saying I would post their answer on internet, seemingly the roller carage that the door runs on needs replacing, this is because we are coastal and the salt can get into them, I'm now satisfied with the response .

Defective builds, and oppositional after care team. They avoid rectifying any problem, lie, obfuscate, shift blame, anything to avoid correcting defective build standard.

Million dollar home is now unliveable due to black mould and health related issues resulting from short laying tiles, inadequate water proofing, incorrect pointing meaning a constantly leaking roof.

Do not risk your money on a Clarendon home

Our experience with the sales consultant was Fantastic, It has now become clear though why the detail was always hard to get a straight answer about. ensure you get a price list of all the upgrade options (aircon, floors, Stairs, electrical, kitchen, insulation, cat6 cabling smart home etc) we got quotes from contractors than added 25% (allow for Clarendon markup) than allowed 10% buffer, once going through color selection the cost were over double what we have allowed.

Stay away .
Had an issue with a roof truss . Main HEAVY LOAD beam failed. Ceiling was sagging down about 15cm and was about to collapse . Called Clarendon home. Anthony came , inspected and addressed the issue to trussmaster company . They turned up and did inspection as well . Put jacks to support it . Answer from Clarendon home was : “ Everything as per design and no builder mistake . We can’t cover this under warranty because you are the second owner “.
I thought “ bad luck” and called my friend builder to fix it. After they opened it up , we discovered that main heavy load beam , which takes load of nearly the whole roof, was made of two pieces, joint with gangnail plate. So it’s actually failed where joint is . Clarendon home guys even did not notice that . They thought it’s a full span beam and just got warped over the time . My builder told me he never saw such a dangerous installation for 30 years of his experience.
It was definitely engineering fault and supervisor did not pick it up.
I contacted Clarendon home again . And guess what .... The same answer :” it’s not our fault, everything as per design”.
Our roof was about to collapse and no brainer, for obvious reason . Main beam was wrongly installed .
It cost me more than $10000 to fix it . But it’s not about money . It’s about SAFETY and QUALITY. And of course - responsibility. None of those Clarendon home has . At least in my case .
So my strong advice is STAY AWAY from Clarendon homes .

we have been experienced with clarendon homes since we have decided to go ahead with them.

3 months after the contract signed, we have suddenly noticed by them that the design of house is not going to be approved by authority, they then suggest some other designs to replacing the one we loved, I have asked them why this issue be found after 3 months contract signed, they did reply that their hydraulic engineer just found the issue which would not be approved by authorities for DA. we have no choice in accepting another house design offered by them as they refused to refund deposit we paid. in result 3 month delay in our home project. no and compensation from clarendon homes.

when our home approaching to completion, we were told by their site manager that the pre-handover will be taking next 3 weeks until now we have not seen any happen for this, they not answering phone call and not responding email in regards delay of handover, very bad customer services from either site manager and admin I think.

the scheduled now we are in strand as many of external contractors are waiting for access into the site, we have been advised if further delay by clarendon home, cost on each project would be increasing.

Hi jenny-d925, thank you for sharing your experience. Would you be able to update your comments in www.productreview.com.au so that more people can be benefitted from your post? Can you please let me know which design did you pick originally and what design did you change to at the end? and whether or not you are happy with the final quality of your build. Thanks Duffy

I purchased a Clarendon Home from the original owner when it was only 5 years old. The cornice work in the living room was deforming in spots equal distances from eachother i.e. ceiling joist locations. The owner had it repaired before we bought it. The problem has returned worse than before and also has transferred into the hall and bedroom. I contacted the builder and they will not return my calls now. The Building Manager said he'd look into it but went AWOL. They do not stand behind their shoddy workmanship and the Government is really to blame for not legislating proper building code and warranty. Get someone else to build your house!

From day one we have had nothing but trouble from pushing us into signing the contract, to charging us $17,000 plus over the included site costs for having a completely flat pre excavated dirt block. Charging us $4,146.00 for Traffic Control, $212.00 for overhead flagging and $1,776.00 for spoil removal that we advised was not going to be needed due to the location of the house etc however they kept it in the contract and assured us when signing the contract that if they were not used they would credit them from the final balance. However that

is not the case they have now changed their story and will not refund us our money even though these items where not needed.

Throughout the build that started December 2015 and is now November 2016 we have had nothing but issues, from start to finish/ still ongoing. These issues have not been minor and have been a constant stress and strain on our life; it has been the worst experience we have ever been through I would not wish this upon anyone.

Some issues include:

• Building our façade wrong, the balcony was built lower than the front door height so when you exit the front door the roof drops down lower than the door height. Due to this the front windows where lowered to the floor.
• In the colour studio we were told we should upgrade the front windows to a heat protector glass, this was not supplied in two of the study windows.
• Upgraded to a high ceiling and the door heights were not raised as they were meant to be.
• They missed a feature wall.
• They painted the external part of our house in the rain.
• In our main bathroom there was a cracked tile that we were told is meant to be cracked :/ .
• Our corner stacker door unit was designed to be the same height as the windows and paid extra to raise the height and recess the tracks into the slab. The doors where made shorter than agreed with uneven and massive gaps all around.
• There is flashing missing, so at current and through the whole build when it rains the water is going into our ceiling.
• Clarendon cracked a pipe while digging a trench for the gas line, luckily we were there at the time and made sure the appropriate people were informed we were originally told that they had repaired the pipe however you could tell that the pipe was still broken as the water was/is still coming up from underground when we questioned this they then changed their story and advised us they would report it to hunter water and they will not be fixing it. I rang Hunter water the other day and reported it for them as they still had not.

During the process I received several phone calls through work and had to leave urgently on a number of occasions. Some phone calls including receiving a call asking if the shower niche was not meant to be tiled as it hasn’t been done and they assumed I had optioned not to tile there?? A phone call to come urgently and advise what paint colour goes where, A phone call to come and show exactly where I would like the house sign to go, I had to come then and there if I wanted it hanged up, Phone calls from neighbours twice saying that they have left the water on and the water is running into their yard.

On our practical completion walk through we advised Clarendon that we did not agree and noted the items that needed to be completed for practical completion as well as items that would need to be fixed later on. Clarendon took over two weeks to reply just giving us a date for handover and no mention if the work needed has been done. Still to this date have no idea what is going on.

I would NEVER recommend to anyone to BUILD WITH CLARENDON HOMES!!

we were shopping around for a house to build on our land. this place was beautiful but very expensive and not many inclusions were in the package, so by the end of it we had to add another 100 000 to get a complete home!
