This review is for Green Palace Thai Vegetarian, Newtown NSW

This shop has a dine in section, and a front display where you can get small bits and pieces takeaway. I had some vegetarian rolls which were delicious. The only bad thing I'd say is that it is a little expensive. The variety of vegetarian foods on offer will not disappoint, however. The man at the counter is friendly and I might try the dine in option next time when I am not in a hurry.

This review is for Thai La-Ong, Newtown NSW

This place offers really cheap meals- at lunchtime there are lots of yummy meals on offer for only $6. I had a fried rice which was nice, but I must say I prefer Newtown Thai, also on King St. I once came into La Ong in the evening to order a spicy soup takeaway, and the quality was a bit lacking for the price of $8 or so. I would only go for the lunch specials, because later in the day you have to pay more for $6 value food.

This review is for Asakusa Japanese Restaurant, Newtown NSW

This is a nice Japanese restaurant. The menu is extensive, and the prices are reasonable. The food was good, as was the service. I had a teriyaki chicken from memory with green tea which was yummy. The place was very busy when I was there for dinner, so lots of people must think it is a great place too. The decor is good, I loved the Japanese atmosphere.

This review is for Newtown thai2 Express, Newtown NSW

There are 3 versions of this shop: Newtown Thai, Newtown Thai II, and this one, Newtown Thai II Express, which is opposite NHSPA and near Newtown train station. The original shop, Newtown Thai is the best in terms of the flavour of the food, but this one is good value for money too. I had a fried rice with chicken eat in, and you get really big servings, so for $6.50 at lunchtime, this is a bargain. The only thing that worried me was when I noted one of the chefs having a smoke outside, who then returning to the shop to cook without even washing his hands- this put me off a bit. The same man emptied a bag of bean sprouts in the display counter without washing them. This was a bit of a let down, I wish they would observe proper hygiene standards.

Newtown Thai II offers food at an exceptional value. The lunch specials for $6 are really great value for money, and it's little wonder the place is always packed. I do however prefer the original shop's cooking (Newtown Thai) as it's slightly different and more tastier, e.g. the fried rice with chicken. Obviously it is not the same chef, but nonetheless you can get great food here, and this is really a cheap eat which will satisfy.

This review is for Romanella Pizzeria Marrickville, Marrickville NSW

verified email - 11 Aug 2010

This is a nice local pizzeria. There are lots of pizzas to choose from, with gourmet options also. The pizzas are tasty, and the thin crusts and toppings on offer are impressive. Perhaps they could improve the decor a little to something a bit more upbeat, but for it's location, it is not too bad. The staff are friendly, and the wait to get a pizza is not long.

This review is for Sweet Chilli Indian Foods, Marrickville NSW

This is a very small Indian takeaway located in the heart of Marrickville, on Marrickville Rd. The food is of a high standard, and there are lots of curries on offer, at prices which are very good value. I got a small container of butter chicken for around $5, and it was delicious. I also tried a lamb dish, and you could tell that a lot of preparation was taken to make it- I could taste a rich array of spices and herbs. There are also bites which you can grab like samosas and tandoori chicken. Highly recommended.

This review is for Tomodachi Japanese, Ultimo NSW

verified email - 11 Aug 2010

Tomodachi is a great Japanese restaurant and sushi train. I love the red theme and modern decor, the atmosphere here is great. The food is delicious and reasonably priced from what you would expect to pay for sushi and other Japanese delicacies. Unlike some other Japanese restaurants, this one has real Japanese staff, (as opposed to Koreans) and the staff are very polite. The service is excellent too.The only downside is that it is packed sometimes.

This review is for Buon Gusto, Chippendale NSW

I dined here for dinner, and the food was good, very reasonable, but perhaps a little expensive. The decor is southern Italian country style, which is comfortable but may not be to everyone's taste. The interior is a little dark with low ceilings - I like this closed in atmosphere, but for those who don't, there is some outdoor seating. Overall, good pastas on offer here, and there is a lunch discount for Sydney Uni students.

Approximate cost: $17

This review is for Dr Eric Saaks, Bondi Junction NSW

Dr Saaks did an excellent job with my braces. I am really happy with the result. The service is friendly (they even sent me cards on my birthday). This is high quality, professional service by a committed orthodontist in a convenient location. Dr Saaks also has a practice in Port Macquarie.
