The food here is great, the problem with it is, its sister business up the road, Newtown Thai 1, does the same menu just that little bit better - a few more fresh ingredients, a few more smiles. I make the extra walk if I have time.

there is alot of thai restaurant in newtown area. this restaurant is quite nice , they have lunch special for around$8 which is great because most of the other thai food around the area cost more than $10 per dish. i had their chicken pad thai and their lad nad. it was delicious and quite a big portion too.

I love the food here. There's a great selection of Thai dishes and I always find the food to be fresh and delicious. My personal favourite is the Laksa. We favour this place for lunch on a Saturday because they have a great meal deal where you can get dishes for around $8.50. Great value. It's not necessarily the nicest looking of places but the food more than makes up for it. Also, get there on a sunny day and there are some nice seats outside. Definitely worth a visit.

newtown thai 2 is sister to thai 1 busy at lunch i had a chicken curry with coconut milk was so tasty and spices u can taste rice is cooked to perfection also had a green curry with vegatables they were nice and crunchy,lunch time they have great specials for only $6 very cheap

Love the duck and mushroom stir fry for dinner. Off the lunch specials menu its hard to go past good old Pad Thai. Solid thai offering, I go there at least once a week.

This is my favourite thai joint of the seemingly that thousands on king st in newtown. cheap and really good.

Newtown Thai II offers food at an exceptional value. The lunch specials for $6 are really great value for money, and it's little wonder the place is always packed. I do however prefer the original shop's cooking (Newtown Thai) as it's slightly different and more tastier, e.g. the fried rice with chicken. Obviously it is not the same chef, but nonetheless you can get great food here, and this is really a cheap eat which will satisfy.

I was dining at Newtown Thai 2 4 weeks ago. They have the best pad thai in town! Great portion great atmosphere. I was very satisfied with the night.

Newtown Thai 2 should not be confused with the original - this branch is near Cold Rock and next to Thai La-Ong 2 while Newtown Thai is next to Guzman Y Gomez. Had the Pad Khee Mao lunch special. I gave this 2 stars for quality only because I vastly preferred Newtown Thai's version - it was more flavourful and had more...oomph. However, NT2 is still pretty good, can't go wrong for $6 meals.

The best and cheapest thai you'll find in Newtown! The restaurant is small and always crowded (because everyone knows how good it is) but it is well worth it. Heaps of options for vegetarians as well, especially entrees.
