Love this cafe, the service is great. Friendly staff, excellent coffee (never had a bad cup from them), and the staff take the time to have a chat even if you are new to the cafe. very small so would not suggest taking prams etc in but for a take away or quick catch up with a friend it is ideal. just a block back from Sydney Rd and near Jewel station. A lot of locals already pop in for a coffee or chai, the food is minimal but this is to be expected for the size of the place and its feel. home made portuguese tarts and vegan options, snacks and nibbles.
Fairly new establishment and I know they will only expand from here on.
Only downside is I wouldn't recommend to go if you are starving, due to the lack of meal options. It is more a take away or quick nibble cafe rather than a sit down meal establishment. Would recommend highly.

I used to like this place a lot as a middle of the range cafe. not too fancy and not too crummy either. just right to fit the budget as things are not too expensive and the food is good. Had some disappointing pancakes once. They were as hard as a rock, solid so I could not even cut them. They were gracious and took them back and refunded my money, but I was upset as I had been looking forward to them.
The service is average, I had a brick fall on my foot from the outside windbreaker (they had been using a wooden block and a brick to secure it in the wind) and they did not even respond when i told them, or ask if I was ok. That did it for me, the lack of care was poor in my opinion. The food is good but not good enough to make up for a lack of concern for customer safety.

Chimmy's is definitely one of my favourite cafe's in Melbourne. I used to live in Richmond, and even after I moved I used to take trips to visit, just for the ricotta and sultana pastry, or just a coffee. Great coffee, not too strong and nice and creamy. The fruit loaf is divine, very heavy with non-traditional fruit such as dried apricots and dates. worlds away from most fruit toast served at cafes, which is generally mighty soft or similar!
service is good, what you would expect for such a busy place. only downside, as the others have said, is that they can sell out or become very busy!

This review is for Alasya Turkish Restaurant, Brunswick VIC

definitely better places to go than Alasya on Sydney Rd. Their food is disapointing to say the least. My friend ordered a vegetarian dish and we didn't even know what it was made up of, the vegetables were slathered with some kind of thick tomato sauce that was really bland. Food looked and tasted poorly. Service is also poor. This business is not even authentic Turkish food in my opinion.

love love love this restaurant. much better than some other ones on sydney rd. home style cooking, just like the others have said. their dips and bread are fresh and made in house. friendly service and great food. what more could you ask for? prices are great, my partner and i share a main sometimes or have the set menu. never too expensive and you get what you pay for. definitely recommend.
