moka gigi are great. i love their turkish coffee (kahve), this seems to be better when had in-house rather than taken away for some reason. I know turkish coffee is time-consuming to make (when authentic) so this could be a reason. i've had their breakfast which is great, as well as their bagels with cream cheese, honey and walnut. yum! great food with a turkish flavour (breakfast has olives, feta, sucuk (su-juk, turkish spicy sausage), scrambled eggs, turkish bread, and tomato. not your eggs, bacon and toast of regular brekkis. lovely snacks and desserts, again with a turkish flavour. they do a lovely rice pudding, turkish style.
would definitely recommend if you don't mind a little alternative kind of breakfast, although they do regular style breakfast options as well as the turkish ones!
just writing this makes me want to go grab a turkish coffee and croissant! *tummy rumble*

This review is for Mule Bar & Cafe, Brunswick VIC

mule is mediocre. i've heard great things about the coffee, but to me it was just ok, not bad, but not great either. this cafe does not have a great range of bakery items or snacks, their meals are ok but they do stop cooking and close quite early each day. they never seem to be cooking when my partner and i arrive! i have had their banana bread which was pretty nice. fresh but a little dry. i would suggest going here if other places are too packed or if you're having a quick coffee catch up. not an ideal breakfast location on sydney rd, i can think of a few others that serve better breakfasts.

i also am a big fan of rewards central. It is like a daily habit for me also, I check my rewards central and do all the tasks listed. I have also received 100 plus 30 and other things like 50 vouchers etc so like they say, its not a get rich quick thing but it helps. i put my vouchers toward the groceries or get cashout to pay some bills. fun, interesting, and a bit of variety in what you do to earn points. definitely one of the best aussie survey/points sites.

This review is for Grill'd, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 22 Apr 2012

I do love grill'd but I tire of the expensive pricing and lack of combo options. it will cost you around $20 for a burger and chips and sauce.
They are quite slow to make your order, which i suppose can be expected for made to order burgers, but they do often get it wrong or are just too slow to deliver. They gave me a satay burger once by mistake, and as it was take away, i didn't know until i returned to my office and unwrapped it. the next time i went by and told the manager and he gave me a $25 gift card. i was pleased they took the time to care but they should have been more careful. i hate satay burgers! :(
good for a treat when you are not cash strapped or time poor.

This review is for Pie Face, Melbourne VIC

pie face aren't too bad, a good option if not much else is open. I didn't like their coffees, however. I bought one that purported to be strong, and it was just medium. their coffee is mostly machine made I think. It is definitely not a barista type place.
they seem to have a good selection of pies and pastries and i haven't tried one but friends have said they are ok.
service is average, nothing special or anything past expected.

This review is for Max Brenner, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 22 Apr 2012

max brenner is ok. they are very busy and with such a small store in melbourne central (for how packed they get), it is difficult for the staff to clear tables fast enough and make the drinks on time. our drinks were great tasting, but a little on the slow side, and as a result my mocha was only warm when it arrived. I could have swallowed it in one sip (to give you an idea). not terrible and not that bad, but I would have liked it a bit hotter, to be able to enjoy it longer. our table was not cleared the whole time we were there and they did not give us any water (the previous patron's water bottle was still on the table).
i agree with the others, 6.00 for a mocha is expensive. good for a treat every now and then but i wouldn't make it a habit.

This review is for Big W Online, Sydney NSW

verified email - 19 Apr 2012

since I found big w online I haven't been back into a department store in person. Why would I? Great prices, a clearance section, the site is well-organised, and they offer a wide range of items. They stock dvds and cds too which is a surprise as most online retailers won't - the department store ones.
I have not had to deal with the customer service as I have had no issues with them. I order on the weekend or Friday and the goods arrive on the Thursday, which is good I think.
I can rely on their store to find what I need and they deliver as promised. Parcels come by parcel post or courier depending on the item.
Only downfall is how the shipping rates are organised. I often find that I am paying two flat fees as the senders are different depending on the item.

This review is for Birdie Num Nums, Carlton North VIC

This place is good, family friendly and the service is always happy and genuine. I have been there with my partner a few times, the coffee is good and reasonably priced, the milkshakes actually come in the large steel cups which is fantastic, as most places use glasses. the back area is spacious and relaxing, with vines and little birds can be spotted from time to time flitting about (I think some of them nest in the greenery around the area).
Only drawback I would say is that they tend to close early for a high street cafe. I'm not sure of their opening hours but we have gone by a few times in the early afternoon (3-4) and they are closed or about to close.
Other than opening hours, I would definitely recommend them

This review is for Azura's Oasis, Brunswick VIC

verified email - 19 Apr 2012

I love Azura's, very friendly and fun! I had done some bellydancing before and enjoyed it so I went back to lessons when I moved to Melbourne. Great fun and Azura (Heidi) always makes you laugh. Good for a giggle and to learn unique skills, like muscle isolation! great workout and chance to let go and forget about whatever is stressing you out. I always feel better after going to class, no matter how hard a day it has been.
The good thing about this school is that you don't have to be a great dancer to come along, anyone can do it (well, any woman can do it!), and you never feel like an outsider or like you are completely unco. Everyone from students to Heidi and the seasoned dancers are friendly and welcoming to newbies.
Pricing is good, especially if you get in early as there is an earlybird discount. Classes are fairly flexible with make ups offered if you can't make a class. There is opportunity to take this where you want - if you want to learn technique and become involved in performances, then you can, or you can stay at the beginners level and just come along for fun. I love that there is no pressure to advance if you are happy just cruising and taking it easy.
Heidi is very caring and helpful, yet professional. In performances she expects the best and draws this out of all her dancers. She has a real passion for bellydancing and it shows in the classes.
Would highly recommend, if you have ever thought about trying out bellydance or Zumba, just go for it.

This review is for Vodafone Customer Service, Sydney NSW

verified email - 19 Apr 2012

I have dealt with vodafone a number of times as I have had multiple issues over the past few months with my prepaid service. Firstly, I recharged, and two days later they tell me via text I have used $150 in credit, 500MB of data, and $50 in V2V credit. I had made hardly any calls so you can imagine my shock. They still haven't told me how this happened. Apparently their data was not being updated so it took them three days to try and tell me what was wrong. they kept calling me back at times other than what I had specified, so I could not answer. very frustrating.
Second issue was their recharge menu, which lacks vital information. option 1- recharge $5 for 150MB data, option two, recharge $12. I chose the $12 thinking it would be one step up from the $5 as no other information was given. However, when calling them to ask why I had no data, they told me the $12 option is for 1900 numbers only. It would have been nice if they would have said this on the menu.
I think they have abolished Lara now as she was so annoying. The customer service staff are friendly and try to help, they give you a lot of free things when they can't help, and you can tell they want to resolve your problem. Its just that they often don't have the resources to solve the problem so they give you something free in the meantime.
I have no problems with the staff, just the value of the plans, which is poor in comparison to other plans, and their technical issues. I have had poor data connectivity in the past few days and I live in the inner suburbs of melbourne.
Same as other people, some times they are good and I have no issues, other times I feel appalled at the issues that occur.
