This cave tour was quite spectacular. Our guide was very informative and amusing and had a great singing voice, as we found out on the tour (I'll leave the reason we found this out as a surprise!). The short walk up to the caves was a much better alternative than driving to the carpark - it was very beautiful. The pricing of $16 per person was quite reasonable and this tour would be suitable for people of most fitness levels. We found the rivalry between the staff of this cave and the staff of the caves in the southern part of Tasmania quite amusing.

Approximate cost: $16

This was a very reasonable buffet, both for dinner and breakfast. The range was good (in particular on the dessert/sweet side) and the food was of reasonable quality for a buffet. It did not stand out as exceptional, however was definately better than some we have been to. There is room for some improvement with the recipes used, in particular on the sweets, however they were all nice enough.
The staff were all very warm and welcoming and recognised us after our first visit when we returned for breakfast.
Be warned that if you sit 'outside' in the now fully enclosed former patio area that it does get pretty noisy when it's busy.

This review is for Tasmania Zoo, Riverside TAS

Our whole experience at Tasmania Zoo was very underwhelming. I have no doubt that the staff and management at the zoo do the best they can with what they have, however they obviously have very little. There is not that much to see here (we completed our visit in a little over an hour) and the enclosures could definately do with some improving. If I was the Tasmanian government I would be putting some money into such a valuable place!
The work that these guys do is incredible, in particular their work with their isolated population of Tasmanian Devils and the staff are probably their most valuable asset - knowleadgable and friendly.
If you are used to mainland zoos then make sure you visit Tasmania Zoo with an open mind and don't expect too much. It is great for what it is (basically a slightly expanded former bird refuge) but nothing like other zoos in Australia. There are obvious signs of improvements already being made and hopefully this zoo can continue to grow and evolve.

Our stay at the Country Club couldn't have been better! We had a gorgeous room - I HIGHLY recommend the suites. We weren't expecting that much from our stay here and were pleasantly surprised at the calibre of service that we received. The staff were friendly, professional and efficient and the room that we had was faultless and quite decadent - all at a better price than we had found throughout most of Tasmania. There is a lot of things to do at the Hotel itself and the grounds are just gorgeous. I would highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting the area.

These guys sell yummy healthy, wholesome food in a cute little cafe. The staff were very friendly, prices reasonable and the food was tasty - that's about all you can ask from a cafe! They also sell a range of tempting gourmet produce from around Tasmania.

This is just a beautiful place to stay. Each of the cabins, although reasonably close together seem like they are isolated and private. The decor of the cabins is nice and they are very cosy - although be warned that there is no phones, internet or TV (including no phone to reception). There are many walks, tours and advetures to undertake in very close proximity to the Lodge, which we unfortunately did not have time to participate in but looked very tempting.

This was a great place to drop in for a bite to eat or for a drink. We had a snack and a drink in the tavern, which has great decor. It is certainly in keeping with the heritage of the site! Our snack (wedges) was good and the other food that was being brought out to people around us looked good too. The museum is worth a visit and is nicely presented. At one stage we felt a little over run though as a couple of buses stopped in for a rest break. I think this must happen quite often but they stick to the bakery side of the building so in the tavern it wasn't too crazy.

This was a great bakery - a HUGE range of products, including delicious looking cakes, pastries, rolls and other baked goods. We had a pie, sausage roll and quiche and they were all very tasty. The service was fast despite the number of people waiting and the outdoor common area is a great place to relax and enjoy your food. They even made a very nice coffee. Their procong was very reasonable and overall this was a great lunch stop.

This is a gorgeous place to stay. Quiet and funky it makes you feel very indulged. The staff are warm and professional and carry themselves in the way you would expect for a $400 a night + hotel. We had some issues with our hot water in our room being pretty unreliable and a tap breaking but other than that our stay was very pleasant. It is fun to browse all the art work lining the halls and rooms. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

This is a beautiful walk in a beautiful place. We were left feeling a little underwhelmed but I think this is because we had already done a walk like this on the mainland. It is a good experience to have anyway and gives you a great view of the forest that you wouldn't otherwise see. You could spend at least half a day here with the extra walks that are available around the area and the drive in was interesting with the logging forests surrounding you.
