This review is for Royal Pavilion Seafood Restaurant, Haymarket NSW

verified email - 25 Feb 2018

The Royal Pavilion Seafood Restaurant offers everyone a private dining experience whether your having lunch or dinner with your family and friends. The place is elegant and there are a number of small private rooms, as well as large group function rooms, which will cost you extra. It can feel a bit uncomfortable with a waiter standing outside the screened room whilst you eat.
Since it was my first time here, we ordered the Peking pork ribs, which was so delicious and a seafood claypot. The seafood claypot was filled with large fresh prawns, scallops and lots of tofu, whihc was yummy, but lacked heat from the wok and seasoning. One of the nice thing about the Royal Pavilion is that they give you pickled radish and carrots as side dishes and a small piece of dinner dessert and fruit. On the negative is that they charge you $5 for hot tea, which is normally free in most Chinese restaurants.

This review is for Yang's Dumpling Resturant, Burwood NSW

verified email - 11 Feb 2018

Yang's Dumpling is a Shanghai style dumpling restaurant located in a cosy small lane near Burwood station. One of the must eat item is the pan fried pork buns with a crispy base and juice soup pork filling. I also tried their curry beef vermicelli noodle soup, which was ok, but nothing to rave about. Their iced lemon tea and milk tea are great. I would recommend getting a set meal which has a noodle and dumpling or steamed/pan fried bun set, as they are a good deal.

This review is for The Dessert Kitchen, Haymarket NSW

The dessert kitchen is an Asian dessert cafe. We had the Ujikintoki Traditional Japaness Style Dessert, which was a green tea shaved ice with red beans and mochi. The green tea powder on the shaved ice was too strong and not pleasing.
I do recommend getting the taro-flavoured shaved ice, nata de coco, glutinous rice balls and chewy taro-rice dumplings. Also the Ice Stream Ramen, which has noodles made with kanten, a Japanese seaweed product that turns liquid into jelly and underneath is sweet, milky soup, crushed ice, and rice balls.

This review is for Gogyo, Surry Hills NSW

verified email - 10 Feb 2018

Gogyo is a Japanese Ramen resturant that has recently opened in Surry Hills. If you love ramen, this place is a must and lives up to the hype. I came here for the 1st time after hearing some review and it was worth it. The Kogashi miso ramen is a charred miso, chicken broth, 1/2 egg, pork belly chashu (a must eat) is rich in flavour and the Kogashi shoyu ramen is a charred shoyu, chicken broth, 1/2 egg, pork belly chashu is also delicious. If you like it hot then the Chilli shoyu ramen with chicken broth, habanero pork mince, bamboo shoots, tomato coriander, pork belly chashu is for you.
Some small dish that you must get is the King Prawn Guacamole and the crackling piggy rolls.
I will be back here for more.

This review is for The Uncles BBQ, Strathfield NSW

verified email - 21 Aug 2017

The Uncles BBQ is a very popular Korean BBQ restaurant, so booking is definitely recommended for big groups. Like most Korean BBQ places, be prepared to have your clothes smelling of BBQ as the table in the back of the restaurant do not have any smoke suction above the BBQ grills.
For dinner we had slices of pork belly and marinated beef, which was very good quality. We also ordered a beef offal stew, egg and tofu dish, spicy chicken with cheese, corn with melted cheese, seafood pancake. All meals can with Bunchan (side dishes of kimchi, salad, radishes, etc).
The food was very nice, but quiet pricey compared to some other Korean BBQs in the area.

This review is for Bitton Cafe, Oatley NSW

verified email - 21 Aug 2017

I had lunch at Bitton Oatley Cafe for the first time with some friends. The cafe was very warm and friendly and had a big garden courtyard to lunch in. The courtyard had a playhouse and various other games for kids, which was very nice and family friendly.
For lunch, I had the Grass Fed Beef Burger, which had Bitton Spicy Vegetable Pickle and Bitton Mayonnaise, Fresh Tomato,
Mixed Leaves, Caramelised Onions on Turkish bread, served with Pomme Frites. The burger was very big and full of flavours. the only negative I had was that the beef patty was slightly over cooked for my taste. My friend ordered the Wagyu Minute Steak (250g) with Pomme Frites, BĂ©arnaise Sauce and Watercress Salad, which was absolutely delicious and I would recommend getting this dish.

This review is for Chatswood BBQ Kitchen, Chatswood NSW

verified email - 06 Aug 2017

Its the first time that I have been to Chatswood BBQ Kitchen and was very surprised at the quality of the food they served. This place reminds me of a typical Hon Kong cafe. This place is busy, but the food is served quickly, so there is a good flow of customers coming in and out of this restaurant without a waiting.
All the BBQ meats looked delicious and we end up ordering the Peking duck, which was half a duck cut up to make 6 pieces of the Peking duck pancake and 3 Sang Choy Bow. The Peking duck were large pieces and so juicy. The sang Choy Bows were so full of duck that the meat was spilling out with each bite. We also ordered a plate of combination stir fried rice noodles, which was so fragrant and delicious.
A lot of other customers were ordering various Bbq meats with rice, which also looked so good. All serving here were very big and good value. I will be back here to try more of their food.

This review is for Yi Pin Xiang, Burwood NSW

verified email - 30 Jul 2017

For some traditional Hunan (Xiang) Chinese cuisine, you must come and try Yi Pin Xiang at Burwood. Hunan cuisine is spicy, so you may want to ask for mild when the waiter asks you how hot you want the dishes to be. Aside from chillies in most of their dishes, this style of cuisine uses more dried or preserved ingredients and condiments.
This was out first time here and we ordered the Braised pork in Chairman Mao's sytle, the pork was very tender and it had capsicum, onions and dried chillies. We also had the chicken claypot, in which the chicken was cubed and very fragrant and had lots of fresh chillies. Both dished were delicious and the servings were generous. I will definitely be back to try thier other dishes.

This review is for TeaPlus, Burwood NSW

verified email - 18 Jul 2017

TeaPlus is a Taiwanese cafe which serves some delicious food in addition to a variety of milk teas and smoothies. I came here for dinner an the place was full, but the food came out quick and a constant number of people coming in and out of the place. We ordered Pork Sauce on Rice, Peppercorn Sauce Pork Chop on Rice, Takoyaki (surprisingly delicious considering this is a Japanese dish), Original Milk Tea and Super Mango Smoothie. All dishes were delicious, especially the house dish of Pork Sauce on Rice. This place is a must try.

This review is for Sushi ZoriZo, Pyrmont NSW

verified email - 07 Jul 2017

Zorizo is a nice cozy Japanese restaurant. The staff are nice and friendly. The food came out to our table at a quick pace with just 3 people working in the restaurant. We had dinner there and there was a great Groupon deal that offered a set menu of Edamame, prawn gyoza, Mixed tempura, Mixed sashimi, Tempura prawn roll, Teriyaki chicken and yakiniku beef with rice & Miso Soup.
We were so full and all the dishes were very good.
