Milano's have some great specials for pick up as well as free delivery to a number of local suburbs (and a small surcharge for others).

They offer traditional and gourmet pizzas cooked in a real brick oven. I recommend trying the Milano (kind of like a Hawaiian but with prawns as well) for something different.

Approximate cost: $10 - $21

Always friendly and helpful - open 24 hours so whether you're on the way home from the pub at 4am or need to duck out to get dinner for the kids this is a very convenient take-away outlet.

Good quality food - their Kebabs come highly recommended.

Stopped in on a whim as I was walking past as I needed to update my anti-virus software. The range in store was fairly sparse, though for a small regional country town, this is not unreasonable.

The lass who served me was personable enough, but it took her a while to acknowledge my presence (granted, she was assisting someone else but just an acknowledgment that I was waiting would have been nice), and once it was my turn to be served, her product knowledge wasn't brilliant.

Several items on the shelf weren't priced which prolonged the buying experience a bit as well.

Stopped in tonight on my way home from work for a quick takeaway curry that I could scarf down in front of the footy.

The staff were friendly, and helpful as far as they had to be, but I wouldn't call it mind-blowing excellent service (yet they were in no way rude on unhelpful).

The food was quite nice, not overcooked, undercooked or with any overpowering flavours. The place looked clean enough not so as you'd eat off the floor but it certainly doesn't strike you as grotty.

Approximate cost: $9 for a takeaway regular curry with rice

This is a great place to stop for a meal or a snack on the road between Hobart & Burnie/Devonport. The hot food is delicious (pies, pasties, sausage rolls etc) and the mouth-watering array of cakes and slices to sample are sensational.

Be warned though, the place can get a bit busy during peak tourist season and their ordering system lacks a bit of organisation at times.

This review is for Yellow Cabs, Hobart TAS

This would have to be the single worst experience I have ever had with a cab company. It's experiences like this that tarnish the whole industry.

In December last year, I called Yellow around 4pm and made a booking for a cab to pick me up at about 6pm (plenty of notice you would think).

6.30 rolls around, no sign of the cab, OK, it's Saturday night, there's a lot of functions on this time of year, I can understand they may be running late.

7pm - still no sign, so I call them to enquire. "We're very busy tonight" was the response (I kind of guessed that when you were an hour late "it will be there as soon as possible"

7.30pm - STILL no sign. Another call to Yellow "We're very busy tonight" is this a recording? Still no apology for being 90 minutes late. Is the cab en-route to me at this point in time? Will it be here in the next couple of minutes? "No it isn't" At this point I decided to cut my losses with this company and suggested a dark and uncomfortable place to park their cab.

Wonderful little place off the Great Ocean Road offering tastings and sales of cheese products made on site with fresh local ingredients.

We stopped in for a tasting, and grabbed some delicious cheeses to take with us on the road. We had all our questions answered and were able to enjoy a cuppa while we watched a short documentary on the place.

Approximate cost: $Free entry & tastings - cheese prices varied

We stayed a couple of nights here last December as we toured the Great Ocean Road. We arrived in Apollo Bay without any firm bookings, drove around til we found a place we liked the look of and went inside to enquire about vacancies and price.

We were greeted a really friendly couple who genuinely seemed to love their work. They didn't just go to a price list and rattle off a price, instead they looked at what rooms were available, picked the best two, asked us to check them out and they'd do us a good price if we liked them.

The rooms we saw were very well appointed, clean, comfortable and well priced. Walking distance to town, private balcony with water views and of course the service was great.

Approximate cost: $150.00

This review is for Annapurna, North Hobart TAS

verified email - 26 Mar 2009

Annapurna is my number one choice for Indian Cuisine in Hobart without a doubt. I am yet to have a meal there (either dine-in or take away) that is less than sensational. The menu caters for those who don't like it too spicy right up to those that like plenty of grunt.

If you like Indian (or haven't tried it yet) and you've not been to Annapurna, you're doing yourself an injustice.

Approximate cost: $13.00
