On a recent trip back to Perth I had to visit Miss Maud's for the buffet lunch! Always remembered the beautiful food and it didn't disappoint! The buffet is beautifully presented and the service is friendly. Even on a weekday (Thursday) the place was quite busy so obviously still very popular. There is a great selection of seafood (prawns, herring) and salad which is the best part of the buffet. Hot dishes good but not great. If I could give one piece of advice, they should look at replacing the pots of filtered coffee with freshly made because I think that Perth has moved on from that. But still a great experience.

Approximate cost: $34 pp / buffet lunch; drinks extra

This hotel has been nicely refurbished and has a very nice outdoor area; selection of sunny / shady spots and a decent amount of seating. I visited for a late lunch (after 2pm) on Friday and the full menu was still available. Good range of menu choices, wines by the glass. There is also an indoor eating area which is light & sunny. Helpful staff.

Approximate cost: $20

I booked the studio apartment of this B&B (located a couple of minutes from the main B&B) as it was described on the website as 'self-catering'. The list of features included toaster, microwave and kettle but listed kitchenette separately; in good faith methinks this means additional facilities apart from the above (why list separately if not to give the impression that other facilities exist?) It was also described as suitable for long stays. In fact all that was available was the above 3 items. To me, self-catering means COOKING! Apparently, one is supposed to wash one's dishes in the bathroom sink. No other place to do this (and no detergent, so I bought some!) You can't fit the kettle under the bathroom tap to fill. Tried to use the BBQ the second night - yep, listed as one of the apartment's facilities. It was filthy and non-operational. The only two good points: continental breakfast supplied and a good view of the Swan River / Perth. But don't book here if you want a 'self-catering' apartment: because it isn't.

Approximate cost: $175 / night.

Sounds like this business has not improved since my kitchen was done in 2003! I experienced many of the same issues as "Anonymous". After signing the contract was told it was not possible to leave a couple of days between the old kitchen being taken out and the new one installed so that I could paint the walls. Result: having to paint around the new cupboards. They forgot to put the laying of tiles into the works, then the rude project manager stated that I 'had not specified" that new tiles would be laid. BS!! This was clearly stated in the scope of works, plus WHY would I have had the old tiles removed if new ones weren't being laid? Was I going to have bare concrete in the kitchen?!! They forgot to install the charcoal filter in the rangehood and left a pile of rubbish on the loungeroom floor. Had to call the managing director to come and collect all the crap. He arrived with a bottle of champagne to say 'sorry' all oozing charm. YUK. End result: not having had tiles put down before cupboards installed = kickboards having to be planed because they would not fit to the level of the tiles. What really pissed me off was discovering that the neighbours who recommended this shoddy outfit received a $500 gift voucher for doing so! I was offered the same but would never do that to someone!! BEWARE OF THIS OUTFIT. And if someone recommends a business, do find out if there was an incentive for doing so.

Great service, prompt and knowledgeable. Saved me from having to buy a new tyre by fixing a puncture; this was a few months ago now and never a problem. Did the job while I waited and reasonable pricing. I would always go here for tyres & related stuff. You know you're getting good advice.

This review is for Curtin University Sydney, Chippendale NSW

I enrolled for my post-grad business course with Curtin as I'd studied at Curtin WA years ago. Big mistake!! I don't know whether Curtin generally has gone down the toilet or it's just the Sydney campus, but hell! I am looking to transfer to another Uni to complete my diploma. TOTAL lack of organisation; units stated on this year's timetable suddenly "not offered this semester" so a one-semester (6 month) course will now take 18 months!! Lecturers who read the whole lecture off the PowerPoint presentation (HINT: I can read, too!). Class which was supposed to be a 1 hour lecture and 2 hour lab (a very practical subject) turned out to be a 3 hour 'lecture' from PP presentation. POOR.
20% Assessment for my last subject was a multiple-choice 'guess' online which one could do with notes in front of you; I suppose that sums up Curtin: complete crap.

Approximate cost: $2300 per subjecct

I have used the catering services of this cafe several times now for business lunches, knowing the quality of food will never be in doubt. Orders are always ready on time, they are reliable and they take EFTPOS and credit. Right in the centre of Wollongong so very convenient. They have an extensive menu and various platters available (sandwiches, cheeses, fruit, etc).
