Charged for product but did not receive it

I made a purchase online for $2,999 for a new graphics card. When I placed the order the website gave a generic error message and indicated that my order was cancelled. I checked my online account and indeed it showed a cancelled order.

I saw that a pending transaction on my credit card was made for that same amount. The Umart website indicated that if an order does not go through this transaction should disappear after a couple of days.

However a few days later (while I am still without the product I purchased) the transaction is no longer pending but instead the money has been taken out of my account. I contacted Umart multiple times but each time they allege to have not charged me anything. They didn't seem to put any effort into investigating - I guess spending thousands of dollars isn't worthy of customer service from them.

So I have had to raise a chargeback with my bank, which means I am wasting even more time getting back my money, and it means I cannot buy what I want until it goes through (who knows how long that will take).

Stay clear of umart/msy/pcbyte, no returns excepted

Umart is not excepting a change of mind return unless the box was not opened.
I bought an expensive monitor, which was not available for review in store. The monitor to not meet my expectations, and Umart is not taking it back, not even for a restocking fee. So please buy at online stores which offer a change of mind policy, even if it is involving a restocking fee

Ordered a high-end custom Computer build from Umart. The first time they POSTED it to me the inside was scrap metal. The $2200 Graphics card was hanging almost unsupported. The second time they posted to me was the same. See the video of the epic fail. The customer service is the worst of any company. Their repair policy says they may replace faulty parts with used parts. Never trust this company. I'll never buy from them again. https://youtu.be/JStvF8n7k4M

TLDR: item arrived damaged, tried refusing to refund me, almost 2 months and lots of hassle to get a refund. I will never shop here again.

My item arrived damaged and they refused to give me a refund, claiming that I had damaged the item (despite my initial email with pictures being sent 90 minutes after receiving the item). Despite shipping interstate, there was no attempt to protect the item (bubblewrap or otherwise) - it came in its regular box within a thin plastic satchel.

Here is a quote from their email to me:
"We cannot facilitate the warranty claim... this is the final word in this matter, my apologies for not coming up with the resolution you're expecting". After quoting ACCC warranty and refund guide, they finally took my refund claim seriously.

It took many emails and phone calls over the span of a couple of weeks before they would even give me return paid postage (still with no guarantee of a refund). After returning, it took another couple weeks for them to agree to refund me.

Only because I can't give it a 0 trying to build a PC cant online go into the shop they edit an old quote give it to me. Go in try to amend told the quote is over 7 days old even though I only had it done that morning. Several emails and days later get told they are not doing builds anymore, maybe remove it from your website. Get crappy overseas call centre who have no idea. Will never deal with you again, lost me as a customer. Just missed out on 2k thanks to great service from a local company cost 100 dollars more but at lease I got to talk to a human

Honestly the work shopping experience I have ever had. My experience with them has been going on for months, but I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

I purchased a $1200 49" curved screen back in January. The instructions tell you to set it up in the box, which I did. When I lifted the screen up after assembling the stand, it had what looked like really bad water marks down the front of the screen. I tried to wipe them off, no luck. I then turned the screen on and it became obvious they were cracks. See photos attached.

It was after hours so I called them the following day and was told to bring it into any store and they would replace it. It was close to closing time so I confirmed it didn't matter which store as I wouldn't have time to make it back to the store I purchased it from and they assured me 8 Mile Plains had stock and I could take it there.

On arrival, they inspected it and told me it would have to be sent away. I told them I needed the monitor for work and this was contrary to what I was told on the phone. Who I assume was the manager, then made some accusational comments about how the screen was damaged and confirmed it would need to be sent away and forced me to sign a piece of paper saying I would have to foot the bill if it was found for inspecting it if I was found to be at fault. I assured them I didn't damage the screen and asked how on earth they would tell that it wasn't damaged in transit and that I had done it. He claimed they had cameras of all the loading points and would review them. Something I highly doubt, and even if, it still doesn't show that it wasn't damaged in the supply chain. It seems like a lot of labour to chew up just to try and prove a customer is wrong. Interesting way to run a business.

Fast forward about 8 weeks. I have not received one piece of correspondence other than a email with a 'RA' number after I physically went into a store to find out what was happening as their overseas phone support is useless. I have called weekly and get the same script each time that they will look into it and let me know. Nothing...not one word. When I went into the store I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and said he would follow it up personally as it had been over a month which is against their own returns policy. Still nothing.

Two weeks later I go into the store again. After waiting over 20 mins in a line, I get told the same excuses and that someone will look into it and get back to me. I've been told that at least a dozen times now and not once has that been the case. At least your team are consistent, I'll give them that.

So now as my entire workplace is being forced to work from home due to the Coronavirus, still no screen, still no answers, and still out of pocket. Even though I shouldn't have to, I would have rather paid my excess and put it through my own insurance than wait 8 weeks. But I can't even do that as I don't even have the monitor to claim.

They may be cheaper than elsewhere, but buyer beware! You don't get what you pay for. Just a heap of running around with nothing to show for it except $1200 less in my pocket. Hopefully Umart will see this and maybe the reputational damage might drive them to action as no amount of follow up seems to. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere. Someone only wastes their time with a review like this if they have been forced into it but a sheer lack of competence and a huge amount of frustration.

Placed an order online. Was bewildered by the fact there was no online checkout process. Placed order online nonetheless. I went to pick it up today, drove 30 minutes to get there and waited 20 minutes to be told that my order was cancelled but they still had it in stock and that I could still have it...for 40% dearer than it was on my original order ($130 more). Needless to say I have wasted almost 2 hours of my weekend and left empty handed. There was no communication saying that my order had been cancelled. My favourite part still is, that in 2020, an online IT business doesn't do online checkout, is genuinely laughable. Their prices are good (at least when they honour them), I will give them that, but that doesn't make up for a terrible customer experience.

Horrible support, no help what so ever. Items displayed as not what they say. Then support doesn't help after purchase.

Just grabbed a motherboard / cpu / ram from them. The motherboard turned out DOA, so I took it back for replacement.

First they wanted to charge $100 to even 'check' it, which I declined to pay as it was more than the cost of the motherboard.

They said they would 'check' for free, then they got back to me saying that it was scratched and that I scratched it so it's my fault and I wouldn't get a replacement.

Basically, as a 10+ year IT tech I have never in my life received this kind of absolute dreadful service, and lies. They are breaking the law in declining the replacement/refund.

Go elsewhere. Umart used to be good years ago, now they're just money hungry.

Don't trust them. They give bad advice and con you into buying things you don't need. Their after sales services is pathetic and they're rude and annoying. Avoid Josh and Mark. Both clueless.
