I was told by plumber that he uses expensive top quality taps and shower heads. My shower was leaking and had to be replaced. He told me that the taps and shower heads were worth hundreds.
After I checked online at the cost of the taps installed and the total value of items came to $50.
I was charged over $700 for the job.
Totally ripped off.

Approximate cost: $766

Was quoted for a job to replace the old toilet set to Caroma for $1500. They came at 5.30pm and subsequently saying there was no Caroma stock in the warehouse but could replace it with Mondella on the spot with the same price. We were desperate to have the job done tonight and didn’t realise the difference in the model and quality between Caroma and Mondella by trusting the word of mouth from the plumber that they are the same. After the Job only realised that the Mondella is 1/2 of the price for Caroma but we paid the same amount for the job. We felt being cheated to pay the price for the job with a lower quality product. What a rip-off!

Hot water service died on a Sunday so I understood I would be charged a premium and callout, but for 3 hours work and a new HW service that retails for $715 to be charged almost $4000! What a rip off. By my sums that makes it about $900 per hour!

Paid close to $500 for plumber to unblock storm water drain. Did not use CCTV. Plumber claimed to have unblocked drain but in less than a week went to backwash pool filter and drain is still blocked. Rang for plumber to come back out and I have to pay standard rates. Told that no warranty provided on drains. This is terrible customer service. It shouldn’t be still blocked in less than a week. Will not be using again. Customer service hung up on me when I complained.

Approximate cost: $500

I was charged $320 for shower washers to be replaced. The moment the plumber pulled in the drive he hit "arrive" on his GPS and stated charging at almost $50 per 15 minutes before he had even checked he was at the right address or contacted tenant. This is on top of a $70 callout... before GST. Arrival time was to be between 4pm and 7pm. The tenant had just gone over the road and it took 20mins before the plumber rang her, charging the whole time. She was home in 8 minutes after being contacted so when the plumber walked in the door the bill was already over $170. My tenant informed me when the plumber left which was less than 30 minutes later. Almost 10 minutes later the plumber rang me to tell me work was completed and he was about to stop charging. I said "You left 10 minutes ago". He replied "Yeah, but I'm still in the driveway".
KEEP CLEAR OF THESE PEOPLE.

Always held the Jim's franchises in the highest regard. Used Jim's plumbing for the first time, and it appears they hold themselves to substantially lower standards than any other Jim's franchises.
Rather than spend time seeking multiple quotes for our leaking hot water unit, we (naively!) opted to just call in Jim's Plumbing. Paid $3,600 for (what we later discovered) was a c.$900 Vulcan 170L gas heater. Local plumbers contacted after the event quoted in region of $1,300 to $1,600 (including installation).
Reaction of the franchise manager to questioning the business practices was extremely aggressive.
If, like us, you've had great experiences with other Jim's franchises, don't assume they are all the same.

Approximate cost: $3600

Thanks for your review. Same experience as mine, had a HW service replaced that retails for $715 and was charged almost $4000 for a Sunday callout of 3 hours work. Makes Jim's hourly rate about $90!!

I contacted Jim's Plumbing yesterday (31/7/2017) via their website and asked for a quote for removing and installing 2 new toilets and 2 new bathroom basins and mixer taps. They called me on the phone a few minutes later and they told me that it would coast $73 plus $47 per 15 minutes just to have someone come and do a quote. What a PIP OFF!!!

I was later able to get 5 other plumbers to come and do quotes for free. I called Jim's Plumbing again later the same day and told them not to bother coming.

I will never even consider using them again unless they can provide quotes for free.

Initially when I called them I wanted my sewer and storm water drains checked to see if they had been damaged by tree roots. I was told that there would be no equipment cost unless they needed to unblock my drains. When the guy turned out I was told that they couldn’t check the storm water drains (not because of any reason specific to me) and that if there was damage it would most likely be to the storm water drains, not the sewer pipes. I was also told that I would have to pay the equipment fee regardless. I was also told by the plumber that changing every washer in my house would fix “water hammer” in one tap. When he was done there was “water hammer” in 4 taps and my shower didn’t work. On top of that I was also mislead about the cost of changing the washers.

We are concerned and disappointed to have received this review. We valve all our customers feedback however this was resolved back in October. We followed up with you and you advised us that you were satisfied with the follow up. You were very aggressive to our plumber onsite and you were also very aggressive to our call centre operator which caused her some upset. We advised you that if our plumber had to use any drain equipment he would advise you onsite. We do not charge our customers to use this machine unless used, which our plumber did, our plumber completed a camera inspection which made it clear that you have issues with tree roots entering your drains. We attended at no charge to take a look at the shower for you, and it was clear that you need a new shower set and copper pipe as the line is blocked with rust. We apologise that you feel we have not met your expectations however we feel we did everything we could to follow this up and provide a solution.
