This review is for Lakeside Country Club, Numurkah VIC

We love this holiday resort. It is located in the town of Numurkah, about 30kms north of Shepparton.Numurkah has a population of about 5000 people, and it has all the facilities you will need for an enjoyable holiday.
The resort is located on the outskirts of town, maybe less than 2 kilometres from the main street; 15 minute walk.
There are about 50 units, mostly 2 bedroom, sleeping up to 6 people, with full kitchens and good-sized living and dining areas.
Most have undercover car parks attached to the units, and many of them are individual home units, or small groups attached, with carparks between.
Fittings and fixtures are very good and units are well maintained and clean.
The resort is set on a large 40 hectare area, alongside a large man-made lake.
The facilities include an outdoor and indoor heated pools, tennis courts, mini-golf course, squash courts, golf driving range, playground, games room and adult lounge with pool tables and table tennis tables. The golf course is a short walk away across the river.
There are various group activities organized, as well as activities for the kids. The on-site managers are very friendly and will do whatever they can to help with resort issues and local tourist and business information.
We have stayed here 6 or 7 times over the last few years, and have always found it very enjoyable and relaxing. There is plenty of room to move, big green lawned areas and barbeques and shade areas around, if this is what you want to do. There are enough facilities and activities to just stay at the resort, if you dont feel like exploring the area. But, there is plenty to do around the surrounding areas as well.
The last time we stayed, earlier this year, the area had just been inundated by floodwater, a large part of the resort grounds had been underwater (not the buildings), but 2 weeks later, when we were there, most facilities were again available, and the management and staff did a fantastic job to make sure the guests holiday experiences were unafffected by the traumatic events they had just been through. Absolutely top marks to them all for this, they really care about their business and jobs.

This is an interesting liquor store, housed in an old church.
There is a very large range of wines in this store, which has nice wooden floors and the stained-glass windows and ornate wooden loft area are still part of the building.
Wines seem to be the main focus of this liquor store, but there are frigs with beers and premix spirits, there is not a large range of spirits, but a selection of most behind the main counter area.
Prices are reasonable, and a good selection of specials are available.
Clean, well stocked and maintained business.

This review is for Millie's Bakery, Mount Barker SA

We had lunch here the other day. This bakery is located at the top end of the main street of Mt Barker. We sat at a table inside, there are about 15 inside and 4 or 5 outside, probably seating for about 50 people. A nice view over the main street and across to Auchendarroch House.
A nice selection of food, we had a toasted smoked salmon and avocado wrap and a toasted chicken schnitzel on a large square cut roll. These were very tasty, although the chicken roll was toasted a little too long, so was a touch dry, but OK.
With a flavoured milk and soft drink, cost for 2 was just over $20.
Nice, cafe-style bakery, housed in an old well-maintained stone building, modernized with comfortable seating and pleasant view through large glass windows and modern fixtures, counters, frigs etc.
Very busy, but service was friendly and reasonably quick.

This is a nice, clean-looking shop. The staff were very friendly.
I had a tasty, fresh chicken roll for lunch, at $6, good value.
There are several tables inside to eat in. A nice range of salads on display for sale as well.
They are open 7 days a week, good, long hours.

This review is for B & B Fashions & Fabrics, Barmera SA

As the name says, this store has a range of clothing for men, women and children, and a good range of fabrics to make your own if that's your thing. They also stock a range of manchester items as well.
The range is large, with a good spread of price ranges as well, from cheap and affordable to better quality.
Friendly staff and neat store.

A nice little jewellery store in the main street of Barmera.
They have a good range of rings, chains, necklaces etc., and a great selection of watches such as Jag. Heaps of appealing designs and styles to choose from.
They also design and remodel jewellery, and specialize in engagement rings.
Prices are competitive, and the staff are friendly and professional. No need to go to the city, great local service.

This review is for Barmera Newsagency, Barmera SA

This newsagency is probably much the same as most newsagencies in a town of this size, but what caught my attention was the fact that the town's Westpac Bank branch is also located in the newsagency, at a counter near the back of the store.
All of the signage out the front seemed to pertain to the Westpac bank, but it was obvious looking in from the footpath that it was also a newsagency.
There was a good range of magazines and papers, stationery and cards, etc., and it is also a Lotteries agency.

The Barmera Information Centre is easy to find, near the roundabout at the top end of the main street. There is plenty of off-street parking, on Pascoe Terrace, and the bus-stop is also here.
It is a nice-looking building, big glass windows facing the roundabout and a nice alfresco seating area at the side, with a nice view down the main street.
There is a coffee shop on-site as well as the tourist information section and gift and souvenir items.
There is seating and tables inside as well as the outside area. to enjoy your coffee and cake.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and are obviously enthusiastic in promoting their town and area (which is certainly very beautiful).
A great place to start your holiday in the area, and to get info. on the town.

We missed seeing this shop on our first walk down the main street, because you don't walk straight into it off the main street footpath. There is a verandah in front of the store, and you enter along the verandah, from in front of the Barmera Pharmacy.
But, when we noticed it, as we were walking back down the street, it was worth finding. It is a very neat and clean store, with lots of great and different gift and homeware items, nicely displayed.
So many places just have the same old ho-hum items, with not much imagination or flare, but this place had so many different and interesting items that would please most people.
A couple of my friends with us at the time commented that they wished this store was close to where we all live, as they had recently needed gifts for different occasions, and this place had plenty of gift items that would have suited.
My friends bought a couple of wall prints suitable for teenagers and young adults rooms, at a reasonable price, under $20 each.
Well worth a browse when you are in Barmera.

This is a well-stocked liquor store in Barmera. It does not have a drive-thru, but there is plenty of street parking along the front.
They have a good range of beers, wines and spirits, with a good-size walk-in coolroom, so there is plenty of cold stock and carton quantities, as well as the display frigs in the store.
The prices were reasonable, and there were some good specials.
Neat and tidy, and service was prompt and friendly.
