This review is for Macau Noodle Kitchen, Burwood NSW

verified email - 09 Dec 2018

Macau Noodle Kitchen is like a typical Hong Kong style cafe with simple and clean looking seating. all dishes are decent pricing and large servings. service is pretty quick at lunch, with it served to you in 5 or 10 mins after you order.
I do recommend you try their lunch specials which range from $10 to $13 and has a wide variety of rice, congee, egg and rice noodle dishes.
We ordered the stir fried beef and rice noodles with veggies (Beef Hor Fun) and the prawn dumpling and egg noodle soup. The prawn dumpling and egg noodle soup was ok, but the stir fried beef and rice noodle was fantastic and I would have it again. I think the stir fried dishes here are a better quality and some of their popular dishes include the beef and bitter melon stir fry or the eggplant and pork mice hotpot with rice.

Horizon Asian Dining is one of the proper Chinese restaurant in the food section of District 8 within the Cabra-Vale Diggers club. I've been told about a great hotpot deal and came to try it. The hotpot special that Horizon has is a $108 meal wand the hoptpot includes, wagyu beef, abalone, half a chicken, tofu, enoki mushrooms, vermicelli rice noodles and various vegetables. This meal serve 3 to 4 people on its own,
The quality was good and the serving were decent. I'm eager to try more of their other dishes.

This review is for Pho Saigon, Cabramatta NSW

verified email - 29 Sep 2018

Pho Saigon specialises in Pho as per the name of their restaurant and this was my first time trying it out. The place looked busy, the waiters were nice and the service was fast.
Most Pho's with 1 type of meat topping are a standard $10 for a small bowl and $11 to $13 for a large size. They also have other noodles and rice dishes like crispy chicken rice.

I decided to have the Ox Tail Pho as this was unique and tasted average. the soup base was very sweet and missing the flavours and heartiness of a good Pho broth. With so many Pho shop at Cabramatta, Pho Saigon needs to pick up the game.

This review is for Stretch Italian, Chatswood NSW

I came to Stretch with my friends to try out their food as it looked amazing on Instagram. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We had the Slow Braised Wagyu Beef Brisket Bolognese pasta with smoked mushrooms, house pickled onions, Parmesan and parsley, which was below average as it was missing the strong bodied taste of the beef and the the pasta was overcooked and very soft.
We also ordered a Prosciutto and Rocket pizza with Parmesan and aged balsamic vinegar. I found the pizza fairly sweet and cutting the pizza was a bit of a challenge as the base was soft.

This review is for Simple Asian Vegetarian Cuisine, Canley Heights NSW

Simple Asian Vegetarian Cuisine is a Vietnamese Vegetarian restaurant, which surprisingly gets very busy during lunch on the weekend. Its my first time trying this restaurant and we order the Wok fried flat rice noodles with vegetables and tofu, as well as the fermented noodle soup (Bun Mam). The servings are fairly big size and both dishes are delicious.
I also saw a number of tables order the eggplant in clay pot dish, which looks so good and would love to come back and try.
The only negative point about this restaurant is the service as even with 3 waitstaff, the service was slow as tables were left uncleared for some time, menus weren't handed out and we had to ask for tea several time. There was also a male waiter that was quiet rude and you could see that he did not want to be there.
On a positive, the kitchen was fast and food came out quickly once our orders were take.

This review is for Swanky Noodle House, Parramatta NSW

verified email - 30 Aug 2018

The Swanky Noodle House serves warm comforting northern style Chinese food. The food is delicious and the prices it fantastic and servings are large.
I've tried the spicy stewed beef and hand pulled noodles, which are delicious and comforting on a cold day or night. If you love lamb then you have to get the Spicy lamb chops, which are chunky pieces of fried battered lamb with dried chilli, capsicum and onion. If you don't like spicy food, then try the lamb noodle soup with glass noodles and serves 2 people. There is also a deep fried pork with a vinegar sauce if you like a bit of a zing in your food.

This review is for Khao Pla, Macquarie Park NSW

verified email - 30 Aug 2018

Tried Khao Pla for the first time and the decor was very modern and clean. The one negative about the restaurant was the dim yellow lighting for the tables in the back, which made reading the menu very difficult.
We ordered the pear and soft shelled crab, which was a sure win tasty dish, as well as the pork ribs in a sticky tamarind sauce. Gai Nam Prik Pao (Fried Chickjen with cashew and chilli jam) was quiet nice, the Pla Pad Cha (southern Thai style fried fish fillets with turmeric, chilli, Thai eggplant and basil) was very salty and definitely needs to be eat with rice. We also ordered fried rice with chicken, which was but a very small serving.
The one thing I was not impressed by at Khao Pla, is that if you bring cake in to celebrate a birthday, they will charge you a fee if you serve the cake at the restaurant,

This review is for Foodie Meet, Burwood NSW

verified email - 12 Aug 2018

Foodie Meet is Asian fusion restaurant that is tucked away in the building across from Burwood Plaza. I've been passed this place a number of times, but nothing really seemed to have catch my eye in the past. Today, some of their lunch specials caught my eye and we decided to give them a go. We had the seafood laksa, which had plump prawns, mussel, squid, crab meat and large pieces of fish. We also ordered the grilled pork neck with fried rice, which is their speciality and it was amazing and must get dish. They had a special on some of their soups, so we ordered the chicken with tea tree mushroom soup, which was simple, but flavoursome. for drinks I ordered a passion fruit tea with honey and grapefruit (also know as First love).
Foodie Meet is refreshing and the waitress we had was super nice. We will be back her for more food.

This review is for Tuk Tuk Lao and Thai Cuisine, Canley Vale NSW

verified email - 29 Jul 2018

Its been awhile since I had Thai/Laos food, so came to Tuk Tuk to try this place out. We had the Papaya salad (Laos style), which had fermented crab and snake beans, , raw beef salad and grilled Ox tongue. The papaya salad had a great flavour, but the papaya shreds was very thick and they did not pound the salad so that it adsorb the sauce. I was also disappointed that they only gave us a few pieces of cabbage to dip in the sauce and usual mint herbs were missing. The raw beef salad was delicious and a generous serving, so a mast have. The grilled Ox tongue was juicy and cut in nice thick slices, but could have been grilled a bit longer for that chard flavour and they sauce was a sweet dark sauce, which was very different from the preferred fish sauce and vinegar dipping.
Overall it was a good meal.

This review is for Hattrick, Macquarie Park NSW

This is the 1st time trying out Hattrick and I was not very impressed. I decided to have the sliding lamb (mini lamb sliders), which was 3 small buns with cold lamb, on top of fries and all I could taste was the bun. We also had sweet potato fries and Lebanese crisp with hummus, which was pretty good. For drinks I has the the peach, passionfruit and mixed berries mocktail (pash me), which was fantastic.
