Although I was a little sceptical at first, just one visit changed my mind completely. Nicholas is a skilled NET (neuro emotional technique) practitioner, who is warm and approachable, easy to talk to, and very effective at what he does. I'm not a fundi on NET, but in my layman's terms, I would describe the experience as a combination of psychotherapy and kinesiology. It may sound rather 'out there', but the results are amazing. There's nothing scary about the sessions. It's about unblocking 'stuck' patterns in a relatively quick way - far faster than discussing issues with a counselling psychologist during endless sessions, for instance. I'm not saying that counselling psychologists don't have a role to play, but sometimes, it's difficult to get beyond a certain point. The NET way of dealing with issues is quite different to anything I've experienced before. You may want to google and read up on NET to gain a better understanding of what's involved. But one thing's for sure, I have found sessions with Nicholas extremely positive and effective. Not sure if this is just me, but I'd suggest you take plenty of tissues (I think he has a supply as well), because unblocking some painful issues or memories can often result in a sudden release of tension. I've often found myself in floods of tears (without consciously wanting to cry - it seems to be on a subconscious level). But wow, it's so cathartic and liberating. And it's not even vaguely embarrassing. I know several guys who go to Nicholas and they have no problem crying during a session (and I'm talking about beefy, macho blokes!!). BTW:NET is not just for psychological issues - it's also a great way to de-stress. It's also incredible how you can reach a conclusion/solution without really knowing how you got to that point. Anyway, you won't know until you give it a try. In my opinion, NET with Nicholas Kovacs is great... and it works for me. Highly recommend.

This review is for Dr Mark Rosenberg, Mosman NSW

verified email - 29 Jan 2014

Dr Rosenberg is extremely thorough and treats you as a unique individual with specific requirements - not a one-size-fits-all approach. He is passionate about dental care and prevention. I wish I could banish sweet treats forever, but I really do struggle! He uses the latest technology, tells you what he's going to be doing (I find this very important so that I can manage my expectations accordingly), and is happy to provide a quote/estimate pre-treatment if required. As we all know, dentistry is very poorly covered by the majority of medical/health funds, so there's quite often a significant cost involved with specialised dentistry. Dr Rosenberg is pleasant and friendly and so is the rest of his team. He doesn't bulk bill, but I don't mind paying extra when I know that the work he does will be to the highest standards. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who wants a really good dentist.

This review is for McConnell & Clements Physiotherapy, Mosman NSW

verified email - 29 Jan 2014

Jenny McConnell was recommended to me by a leading physiotherapist at the Sports Science Research Institute in South Africa, whom I'd been seeing regularly for over five years after surgery to correct a slipped disc in my neck. Naturally, I was very apprehensive about going to a new physio in a new country. Imagine my delight when I found Jenny's practice was located on the Lower North Shore (I was also living in Mosman at the time). In fact, I was able to walk to my appointments. Jenny is very personable and professional, and I found her treatment excellent. She is known worldwide especially for her knee-taping (the procedure/technique is named after her). She worked on tennis player, Pat Cash, back in the day. He would fly from wherever he was in the world to see Jenny, so that she could treat and tape a chronic knee problem. If, like me, you're a tennis fan, you would have seen Li Na's knee taped with black tape during the recent Aus Open finals, which she won. The McConnell Approach addresses chronic musculoskeletal problems to upload soft tissue, usually with tape, to decrease pain and optimise treatment effects. I found this worked wonders for me (and she wasn't treating my knee, but my rhomboid & scapulae areas), and I would strongly recommend Jenny and her team to anyone requiring expert physiotherapy. Because Jenny is so well known and popular, I suggest calling well in advance to secure an appointment.

This review is for Dr Stephen D Horrowitz, Randwick NSW

At the time, I was in Sydney on holidays and was haemorrhaging badly. I had no idea why. Dr Horrowitz was recommended to me, so I contacted my travel insurance and requested to be seen by him. Once I received the go-ahead, I contacted Dr Horrowitz immediately. He was in surgery, so I explained my situation to his receptionist. That same afternoon, Dr Horrowitz called me and said I needed to have an ultrasound scan asap and take the results to him. He also asked me various questions about my condition and recommended that I immediately start taking iron tablets that contain vit C for absorption. He mentioned the brand and told me exactly what to do. Although he was fully booked months in advance, he said he would do whatever was necessary to fit me in. Once I'd been for the scan, I called and made an appointment. As promised, he squeezed me in to his busy schedule. I found him funny, personable, and he immediately put me at ease. He does call a spade a shovel, but I prefer doctors to be completely frank with me, so this didn't bother me at all. After looking at the scans and examining me, he booked me in for surgery that same week. He explained absolutely everything about the procedure to remove a large fibroid and gave me additional written material to read. He was extremely patient with me, as I asked him loads of questions. I felt I was in good hands... literally. The surgery went well, and as an extra precaution, he kept me overnight for observation to check my electrolyte levels. From that day on, I would not even consider going to another gynaecologist. Dr Horrowitz knows his stuff, is a highly skilled surgeon, has a great bedside manner and I have total confidence in him. I would definitely recommend him to other women - as a gynae or obstetrician. I cannot praise him highly enough.

This review is for Hooked Gourmet Seafood, Greenwich NSW

I've mostly had takeaways, but have also had a sit-down meal here. Their seafood is great - fresh and tasty. The service is friendly and fast, and this spot offers good value for what you get. There's nearly always a queue (which is a good sign, I think), but the wait is never long. My friend and I sat outside the one time, and the waiter was so accommodating. He brought the portable gas heater closer to us, because he could see my friend was cold. The cutlery was stainless steel, not plastic (as with many takeaway joints), and the food was nicely plated and presented, as well as delicious. I've mostly had fish and chips or calamari, but I intend to try some of their specialities in the future, as they sound and look extremely tempting. On my 'wishlist' is: beer-battered oysters, Sydney rock oysters and prawn skewers. Charming sidewalk setting in the tiny village of Greenwich (right alongside a bottle shop, which is also handy). I'd call it 'cheap and cheerful'. BTW: I'm not sure of their hours, but I know they aren't open on Saturday nights. I guess they need some time off too (it's a family-run business, I gather).

Approximate cost: $10 - $15

I was actually on WOMO, when a google ad/offer for skincare samples popped up. It listed Strivectin (a brand I know is good), so I thought I'd give it a shot. Never again! First you fill in questions about your skin concerns, eg, wrinkles, crow's feet, fine lines, etc. Then they recommend three products from which you can choose. You only pay for postage (approx $4). So the one that looked the best to me was a product called InstantLift - supposed to reduce frown lines, etc (supposedly contains Argeruline - which I've heard of - as a topical alternative to Botox, plus some other ingredients I've never heard of). For $4, I didn't think I had anything to lose, and the site and ads, etc, looked professional. Then as I was about to put through my payment details, another offer popped up. As a special 'add-on', I could select one of two products & only pay for postage. One was a BB cream and the other was Pure Garcinia Cambogia - they even feature a video clip of Dr Mehmet Oz (who was a regular on the Oprah Winfrey show & now has his own), where he discusses the benefits of Garcinia Cambogia with a scientist. Apparently, it is derived from a fruit skin and doesn't allow fats to be stored in the liver, it releases seratonin & reduces cravings and appetite. So I thought: 'Why not? If Dr Oz reckons it's good stuff, I may as well give it a go, as he's a credible medical practitioner.' The postage for the Pure Garcinia Cambogia was just $1.35 (odd amount, now that I think of it). Before making the payment, I checked the 'Checkout' page to make sure it was protected by a credible source, such as VeriSign, which it was. I wasn't all together happy not being able to use PayPal, but it all looked authentic, so I went ahead with the payment via credit card. Big, big mistake!!! A few days later, I just happened to be checking my bank account statements and noticed a debit of $179 from GDM Cambogia Trim. So I went to my email confirmations of payment and checked everything thoroughly, and of course, there was no amount of $179. Then began the mission of trying to contact these guys. Well, the numbers they provided had either been permanently disconnected by Optus (recorded voice message to this effect), or the auto message said I was number one in the queue and my call was important, so I should please hold on. I put my mobile phone on speaker and let it hold for over 30 mins, before hanging up. I tried emailing all the email addresses I could lay my hands on (permanently undeliverable, of course). Meanwhile, I received notification from Aus Post that there was a package for me at my local post shop. After having no luck getting hold of anyone, I then googled and found a site called Scambook, and what I read there, may me feel ill. There were over 190 complaints about this Pure Garcinia Cambogia company, claiming damages of nearly $50K! One of the bloggers said to contact the bank immediately before they could debit any further amounts. So that's what I did. I cancelled my credit card immediately and lodged a complaint, which the bank then investigated. I had to make do without a credit card for about 5 days (I cancelled it on a Thursday), which was very inconvenient, as I don't like to carry around large amounts of cash. Fortunately, the bank managed to credit me with the $179, and I now have a new card, so I can breathe a huge sigh of relief. I still haven't managed to get in contact with Pure Garcinia Cambogia, & finally received a very vague response from BeautyClub.net, in which they would not acknowledge that the product had anything to do with them - even though it was offered on their site??? Odd, to say the least. Since then, I've been on to the BeautyClub.net website to check it out properly. It's NOTHING like the website that I saw previously when I clicked on the special offer. It looks very dodgy, the English is poor, and the actual design of the site looks like a bad 'cut & paste' job. When I tried to click on the link 'Ingredients' (I wanted to know if I should even attempt to put that stuff on my face!), there was no click-through, so it's fake? Lesson learned. I just felt I should warn others, so they don't make the same mistakes as I did. Oh, and btw, I am in the marketing industry, so I'm not easily fooled or gullible. I must just point out that there are probably some genuinely good, reputable, credible suppliers of Garcinia Cambogia, so it's not fair of me to paint them all with the same tar-brush. Just be very, very careful. And my advice to myself (and to everyone out there) is to only use PayPal for online purchases. I hope this review saves someone from the horrible hassles I've experienced. I'm now rather wary of buying anything off the internet, but will first do my homework thoroughly if I do decide to do so in the future. As the saying goes, "Buyer beware!"...

Four of us dined at this delightful restaurant with gorgeous water views, a lovely, relaxed ambience and traditional touches. The owner, Omar, is really hands-on, and explained anything we wanted to know, and the waiters are quick, efficient and friendly. The shape of the restaurant is such that if you get a window seat (looking in the direction of Chinaman's Beach), it's not at all noisy, even when the place is packed. It's a colourful spot, with a feature stained glass lantern as you walk up the stairs, ornate wine and drinking glasses and tableware, and hues of Moroccan blues and oranges on the walls.

We shared some starters (tapas), which were all very tasty - B'stilla Fingers, Carrot salad marinated in paprika and lemon dressing, Moorish pan-fried sardines served with Moroccan tomato salsa, lamb back strap marinated in cumin, paprika, garlic, extra-virgin olive oil and herbs, and some North African Zaater bread. For main, I had the lamb merguez with minted yoghurt which was delicious - very fragrant. The others had the slow-cooked sweet lamb, Barramundi fillet with fennel & orange salad, and the seafood Bastilla cooked in Moorish spices (too fishy for me, but the person who ordered it loved it). All the meals were delicately flavoured and really tasty.

I decided to try the Moroccan coffee, which is poured by Omar in a very interesting, traditional way. Not really my thing, though - I found the cloves a bit overpowering. I think it's an acquired taste. The mint tea was also served in a traditional way (great co-ordination skills to pour from such a height!) - and this was more to my liking.

This spot is special. The views, the service, the food and the value. We had a most enjoyable evening and will certainly be back for more.

Approximate cost: $26

These guys are 'amazing'! I was previously with Vodafone, and they were OK (well, only just), but not a patch on this bunch... and I'm getting really great value too. For $39.90 per month on the UNLIMITED plan (post-paid), I get 6GB (they keep adding on extra as a bonus), unlimited standard calls to landlines & mobiles, unlimited standard SMS, unlimited calls to 13 & 18 numbers, unlimited standard MMS, and unlimited voice mail. At first I was a bit nervous that they don't have a physical store you can visit - everything is done online. But I need not have been concerned. Their service is awesome - live online chats or emails. And the best part is that the customer service representatives are all based IN AUSTRALIA (not overseas in India, the Phillipines or elsewhere)! They are even available to help on public holidays. Their response is immediate and they have been able to sort out any questions I've had in super-quick time - and they were pleasant about it. The coverage is the same as if you were with Optus - so it's good. Their email updates are friendly and well-written. All in all, my experience with this company up to this point has been great. I would strongly recommend them.

This review is for Sven's Viking Pizza, Neutral Bay NSW

Sven's pizzas are way too difficult to pronounce (unless you're Swedish), but I can tell you that their pizzas are seriously good if you enjoy a thin, crisp base and unusual toppings. My two favourites are Frö (premium beef eye fillet with mushrooms & bearnaise sauce) and Yggdrasil (garlic & chilli prawns, crispy pancetta, roma tomatoes & chevre goats cheese). Medium is around $22, while the Large is $26 (there are also cheaper options). Italians would probably have a 'turn' if they saw these un-Italian toppings, but these are a great change from the norm. Only negative is how hot it is inside - have to stand outside to 'breathe'. I pity the workers! Definitely recommend.

Love popping in to stock up on a quarter roast chicken after a long day at work when I'm not wanting to cook dinner. Their devil chicken wings are yummy, too, but sadly not a healthy option. They serve great seafood, too - well, that's their main focus, I guess. The fish & chips and calamari is outstanding. You can also choose from an interesting selection of healthy salads and sides. Great prices & special combo deals. Either eat in, or takeaway. Great location - right next to the station - and if you walk a little further down to Bradfield Park, you have fantastic harbour, bridge & Opera House views. Great takeaways and fast, friendly service. This gets my vote of approval.
