I have been here a couple of times with larger groups of friends and have found the service to be really bad each time. I am unsure if it is because there have been a few of us each time? None the less, the food was average, if you like mexican then i'm sure you will like it, but it is not exceptional. I did love the warm cheese dip as entree with corn chips and the peach sangria, but for main I have not been impressed. Would definately go back for drinks and snacks though.

As a local, finding a good restaurant in the area is important. The staff are (mostly) from Mexico or speak Spanish and there is a great vibe to the place. The food comes out very quickly and the plates are hot.. which makes me think they might microwave the meals (and question the freshness) however the flavours are there and it is an enjoyable experience.

We dined at the Essendon restaurant many times and were quite happy and its one of our favourite places, so this time my husband and I went to this restaurant in Richmond for a change of scenery

we were not disappointed, but impressed with the high quality, delicious mexican cuisine

the nanchos are sooo good!!

Been a customer a number of times. It does get very busy and booked out quickly if you want to eat in, which leads to long waits for food and staff that are quite rushed. Food is really good, the usual Mexican dishes on offer, cocktails and drinks are good. Priced fairly reasonably too.

Great quality mexican food, all the fav's available and a great noisy party atmosphere. Has been really busy on Friady & Saturday nights but worth going.

Went to Mexicali Rose with the intention of eating in, but as we hadn't booked and it was primetime dinner on a Saturday night, there was going to be a 90 minute wait for a table so we ordered takeaway.
The food was high quality, well cooked and warm when we got home 5 minutes away - something which I find really important, because it means the establishment's containers or storage things are well thought out.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place again and we'll definitely be going back, albeit booking a table first.

Easily some of the best Mexican food in Melbourne great service and fantastic selection well worth a visit.

A mexican local favourite that has been around for many years. Always busy and noisy. Cosy atmosphere (tables very close together). Love the nachos here.

Excellent venue with Mexican party atmosphere. Best selection of tequilas in Melbourne. Food is great.

The best Mexican Restaurant in Melbourne!! I have tried some others and none come close to this. It has the atmosphere of a nice restaurant, not a cheesy bistro. This is now going to be one of my regulars.
