The knowledge, excellent customer service, range of shoes and price range were exceptional
My granddaughter bought a pair of Doc Martin shoes for exactly $100 cheaper than a city store.
I always leave with a smile visible on my face .

Hicks is the best shoe store in Melbourne, with a huge range to choose from, exemplary customer service and reasonable prices. This place is a gem!

Both my wife and I needed new shoes and we were very impressed with the service the staff provided. They were very attentive to our needs and made sure that were satisfied with our choice. Hope the shop will be there for a long time to come.

I've been to Hick's at least three times this year with varying needs for shoes in the family from proper sporting footwear, to "going out" shoes, to good, strong walking shoes and each and every time we've come home with a quality pair of shoes which fit, look great and are destined to last and wear well. The staff here really take personal service to another level and go out of their way to find out what you want and make sure you're happy. Especially good talent with children. Certainly not cheap but compared to buying 3 or more pairs of "bargain" shoes which are a compromise and don't last, it's the best option. The old saying "you get what you pay for" describes this place exactly. The range is great for a small shop and they always have a reduced table out the front as well.

Simply said, the "shoe fits".
Fantastic service, variety of shoes, assorted colours and the smile with service is free. Other stores could learn from this store.

I can honestly say that this is the best shoe shop I have ever been in! I recently discovered the store and couldn't believe the amount of comfortable yet fashionable styles available. I have "problem" feet and usually have to settle for "nanna"styles but I was in heaven with the choice here and will make regular visits here from now on. Actually I don't think I will need to shop anywhere else for shoes again. The service was fantastic, despite the store being extremely busy with back to school shoppers. I especially loved the Tsonga brand of shoes - amazing.

I have lived in Altona for 45 years & one of the best stores is Hicks Shoes in Pier Street. It is a lovely experience to shop in this store as it has kept its original décor, my favourite item being the shelves of boxes that they service by way of a library styled ladder. Recently I purchased a pair of my shoes for my husband which turned out to be unsuitable. I returned them the very next day & received a full refund, the service being exceptional & the staff thoroughly understanding of my situation.
= Subsequent to this my husband & I returned to Hicks Shoes & ended up purchasing eight [8] additional pairs. This was as they had a great sale happening & the prices were too good to pass on. The staff were exceptional, showing much patience, genuine helpfulness and total acceptance of our need to try on various sizes of multiple pairs of shoes. We lay buyed three [3] and took home five [5] - again the staff were excellent, happy for me to take the time I need to pay it off - just as long as a regular payment was made.
**Overall I must say that I highly recommend Hicks Shoes. It is run by great staff, has a better than average choice and is so much nicer to shop in as opposed to the bland, robotic stores that are franchised.
** I also recommend looking at their stock of shoes known a TSONGA, these are hand made & imported from Africa. Hicks are the only store around that I have found even known about TSONGA shoes and I have personally purchased at least fourteen [14] pairs of these wonderful sandals / shoes and all from Hicks. 10/10.

I bought some orthotic thongs from hicks Altona and was served by a lady who I found to be abrupt and rude. I asked for a different right side shoe because it felt loose, she would only offer me the display so I took it. Got it home and discovered the strap was damaged. Took it back and she offered me the loose one back or "we can glue it for you". I just bought these thongs half an hour before hand and that was the options I was given!! This is a shame because it is an otherwise good store with plenty of variety in shoes, and something iconic to Altona especially as their two other stores in the west have closed and this is the only one left. I have never encountered such poor service, making me feel like it was my "fault". Thanks to this, I have chosen to buy a pair of Birkenstocks online as I don't wish to part with anymore money at Hicks Altona, if this is the sort of service you receive after you've handed over your money!!!! Wrong!!!! Disappointing!!!!
