This review is for Simon E. Smith, Geelong VIC

Simon is a podiatric surgeon, specializing in foot and ankle surgery. I decided to make an appointment to see him for an ongoing problem that my podiatrist and physiotherapist haven't been able to improve. I was very impressed with the detailed questions asked and the thorough examination. I would recommend him highly to anyone who is investigating different treatment options for foot pain.

The staff at Wendy's in Westfield are always very friendly, and service is quick. Some of the staff go a step further than others, giving you ice cream flavors to try while they prepare your order. I really love their hotdogs with cheese, sauce and mustard. They have a deal where you can add a drink too. Always nice for a treat.

I was a bit scared of going to the dentist, as many people are, so I was very honest about this with the dentist I saw. She was very patient with me, explained all the processes, and checked how I was feeling along the way. I felt very calm and relaxed after the experience. It was cheaper than I expected too! This is the dentist I will stick with.

This review is for Nutrition Warehouse, Ashmore QLD

Nutrition Warehouse is my favorite online store for buying protein powder and other supplements. They have actual stores, but I have only bought from the website. Postage is cheap, $9.95 flat, or free if you spend over $150. They have a great range of brands and supplements. I once ordered a product that had sold out, and they contacted me to offer me a big discount on a similar item to compensate me. They are very knowledgeable, so you can call them for advice on products and trust they will help you out. Postage is quick too.

This review is for The Max Hotel, Geelong VIC

The Max Hotel is a good spot for a night out if you want live music and an older crowd. Their beer garden on the ground level is fantastic, a large area with lots of tables and nicely presented. I had heard some bad stories about function there, but I had a good time when I went to a 40th birthday in one of the room on an upper level. They provided a lot of finger food, and we had our own private bar. Overall a good venue.

This review is for King George Fish And Grill, Geelong West VIC

King George Fish and Grill isn't a regular fish and chip shop. Their store set up is a lot more up market, and there are a few seats if you want to eat in. They offer more expensive types of fish, and different sides including various salads, stir fry, chips and garlic rice. I got atlantic salmon with garlic rice, and it was amazing! It was $12.50 for the salmon and side. It's more expensive than normal fish and chips, but so much better! I highly recommend them.

This review is for Jokers Bar Cafe, Geelong VIC

I have been to Jokers a few times with friends for lunch. One of the things I like about it is the beer garden, which is a very relaxing spot to sit and have a few drinks after your meal. It is surrounded by the building, so you don't hear the traffic, and you forget that you are in a pub on one of the busiest streets in Geelong. The staff are always super friendly as well. We often go after seeing a movie across the road.

This review is for Sushi Star, Belmont VIC

I LOVE this place for their take away. You can eat in, they have a very simple seated area, but I have always ordered to go. There is an extensive menu with many options other than sushi. I have tried their gyoza, tempura vegetables and miso soup, but I always order the katsu don, which is crumbed pork with onions and egg on rice. It is so good! Prices are reasonable too. The woman who works there even remembers my order when I go in. I highly recommend them.

This review is for 2 Sisters, Geelong VIC

I went in to 2 Sisters for the first time to order take away. I asked for red chicken curry and steamed rice. The restaurant looked lovely. I was there very early, so it was empty. I would like to dine there one night as it has a really nice atmosphere. The staff are very polite and helpful, and my food came out so quickly that I hardly had time to sit down. The take away serving was a little smaller than other Thai take away I have had, but the prices are good, and the food was delicious. I will go back.

This review is for Km Hair & Beauty, Geelong VIC

verified email - 07 Jun 2013

I noticed km Hair & Beauty, a new hair salon in Market Square, as I was walking past earlier in the week. They had a poster up advertising opening specials, and on impulse I decided to go in and ask if they could tone down the red in my hair. I explained that I wanted to go back to a light ash brown color. I was told they would do a quarter head of foils to lighten the red, and then do a color over to tone the red to brown, and cover the foils so they would be a lighter ash brown. The first thing I noticed was they didn't take down any details for a client card, which is something I think most good salons do to have a record of your treatments. There was no bench at the work station, so I had to leave my bag on the ground, and my jacket. My foils were put in, and looked a bit messy compared to what I am used to due to the actual foils being folded by hand instead of around the comb. When I was taken to the basin to have them rinsed out I was a bit concerned about my bag being left on the floor on the other side of the salon. They have a very open frontage, and are close to the mall. As the rest of the salon was empty I just didn't feel comfortable about where my bag was with so many people walking past. The second color was done, and then shampooed out, but they didn't use conditioner. I was very surprised by this. I have never been to a salon that doesn't condition after washing hair, especially after bleaching it. Back at the chair the hairdresser combed my hair and the comb pulled badly because no conditioner was used. I saw a couple of the bleached areas snap off close to the ends. My hair was cut and then only half dried with the hairdryer, so it was frizzy. I just wanted to leave. I pulled out my card to pay, and was told they don't have eftpos. There are no signs to point this out, and I had not been told when I booked. I had to arrange to come back later in the week to pay, which was very embarrassing, inconvenient and unprofessional in my opinion. When I got home I dried and straightened my hair. It was only then I saw that one side is very stripey and the other is patchy. The foils are not ash brown either. It doesn't look like they were done by a color expert, which is the way they advertise online.
I could not get in on the day I said I would come in to pay and tried to ring them to say I would be in the next day. The phone number they had given me wouldn't work. I tried a number of times, and in the end I had to call Market Square management and ask them to pass on the message for me, and I paid today. I learnt a lesson, no more cheap hair salons for me.
