Don't make the mistake we did of going into The Haus just to have a cup of coffee like we did late one morning. We did not want to have brekky and the withering looks we got were palpable. We were stuck at some ricketty wooden table and chairs, which I find difficult to sit in (back/leg probs) so we moved. As we moved tables the 'seating waitress' walked past and I said to my huz this chair is b****y uncomfortable. The atmosphere was decidedly cold. We eventually got our coffee, if you could call it that, because it was so strong I'm surprised our spoons did not dissolve.

We all hate moving house right? However when we do move we want it done right don't we? My huz and I were very impressed with Barnett Furniture Transport from our initial phonecall to the time our belongings were safely at their new home. We had a visit from Barnett's to inspect our goods and advise us what would happen. The big truck with the boss and a helper and an apprentice arrived early and everything was loaded inside quickly and efficiently. Extra care was taken with precious objects which may sustain damage such as our wooden dining table which was coccooned in a padded cover for safe travel. Barnett's has insurance in case of accidental damage. Mirrored objects were give special treatment and wrapped accordingly. Once arriving at our new home our items were positioned where we wanted them instead of being just off-loaded. I asked about that because I had nevr experienced it before and was told that moving our furniture and even our boxes where we wanted was all part of the service. They even took their shoes off because outside the house was a bit muddy. Barnett's original quote of $1000 was cheaper than their competition and the final cost came well under what we expected to pay. Barnett's are a local family company doing a great job. I would recommend them to anyone moving across the road, around the corner or across the country.

Too many chairs and tables in too small a space. Can be kept waiting for up to an hour for your main course. We figured the kitchen is way too small which is why service takes so long. Careful if you order prawns as a main course because their tails are still intact so obviously they have not been deveined. Their fried rice was nice but be careful once again because the prawns have not all been deveined...ewww! Their Mongolian Steak is super heavy on the chilli (not on the menu) so be warned. Main courses do not come with rice. I was surprised it was not busy and it was late night shopping. Maybe most people in the area were already aware of BBQ Hill's shortcomings.

My husband and I come here for their 2 course $12 lunch deal. Good choice of specials and good choice of hot vegetables and salads and accompaniments. Just a note to say the 2 course meal is now $15 but still good value.

Approximate cost: $12-$15

Picture it...my 60th birthday and I have had a booking for 6 months for high tea. I had informed them it was a birthday celebration. On our arrival we were NOT asked of any food sensitivities which we both have. We were NOT asked if we had any likes or dislikes or favourite flavours. I wrongly assumed we would be asked about this later. The decor was nice but I noticed on the table the sugar spoon was broken so not a good look there. No chipped crockery or glassware on our table which was good. The assam tea came out in a large silver teapot but the flavour was mediocre. When the food arrived on a small 3 tiered platter everything was coloured brown not brightly coloured as I had hoped for my birthday celebration. One of the cupcakes had a lit candle in it which was nice but this cupcake was date which I dislike so they should have checked this on arrival as I stated earlier. The other cupcake was okay so my husband had that and there was some white christmas which neither of us tolerates. The sandwiches were stale and dry and contained nuts which is a real no-no for me. The only good thing was the scones (although they were a bit dry) with jam and cream. Most of the other items we left but we did eat the scones jam and cream. However at $40 a head it's a very very expensive devonshire tea wouldn't you say? The table next to us must have had regulars because they received much better service. I would have thought the owner would have noticed all the food we left and queried it? Sadly they did not. High tea normally runs for 2 hours but we left after 45 minutes. The owner even apologised to my husband for the expense we had incurred but did not offer any discount or extra cupcakes to take home. It is not a disability friendly establishment either so beware.

Most people buying takeaway from here end up with something extra...a dose of food poisoning. Everyone I know including my husband who has tried the takeaway food has ended up being ill for a week.
