We've patronised this place many times because it's the only place for yum cha in our area and food is quite good while the service is generally mediocre but that's something we can overlook; until today. 10 of us (7 adults+3 kids) celebrated a friend's birthday. There was a miscommunication with a fried rice order and Staff A claimed that we had "ordered wrongly". Since there wasn't a menu, he just grumbled and agreed to bring us the updated order. As my friends tucked into the second fried rice brought to our table, two of them found pieces of foreign objects in their rice and they alerted the staff. The same Staff A came over to inspect them and quickly sprung to his own defense by suggesting the objects could be fragments from our kids' toys! Hello....the kids didn't bring any toy to the restaurant! At this point, we were sure there will be no apology coming nor any effort for accountability on their part. Disgusted with the staff's attitude we quickly finished our lunch in order to leave the restaurant. Whilst settling the bill, my birthday friend decided to explain to another staff at the cash register that all we wanted was to alert them about a possible mistake in the kitchen and that we weren't gunning for a free meal. Instead of accepting our feedback gracefully, Staff B sided with Staff A who came running to us and accusing us of causing trouble and told us "If you're not happy, don't come back. We don't want you here!" Those were his exact words... words certainly not acceptable from any food/service establishment. I'm sad now as I have to go all the way to Chatswood for my yum cha fix in future.

Just got a simple trim. The staff were very friendly and chatty and made me feel at home. I had to wait a little longer than my appointment time but they were apologetic. The haircut was nice but the price was on a high side. No shampoo, just cut and blow dry for $55. Not sure if I'll go back though.

Approximate cost: $55

There was heavy moisture on the carpet outside our wardrobe and we discovered that inside it was flooded. Rang plumber on Monday morning and the plumber responded in good time. However the job he did was unsatisfactory. He fixed a leak on a pipe and replaced a valve in the cistern. All in was on the premise for no more than 1.5 hours and gave me an exorbitant bill of $495! Plus the bill was not detialed; only wrote "Labour+materials".

2 days later, we rang to explain we suspect it wasn't fixed properly as the leak must still be there as the carpet was still drenched and that we could hear a faint hissing sound. Same plumber then claimed he had checked the water meter to make sure that water wasn't still flowing before he left. However, we had done that experiment as well and the meter didn't move. Later we would find out that the pinhole was so small that it wouldn't make a difference on the meter in less than 2 hours.

He then reminded us that there is an outstanding invoice (which was actually authorised for transfer the night before but the bank hadn't sent through) and that additional charges would apply to a second visit. Whatever happened to after sale/post-job service?

Because of this sort of attitude, we decided to ring up another plumber who in the end found a second leak, removed bricks surrounding the outdoor tap which was connected to replace a portion of the pipe which had the leaks, patched the bricks up, replaced my water heater valve; all in spent a little under 4 hours on the job and charged me only $418 including GST. He even told me to give him a ring if any problem persisted and that he'd be happy to come by again. Those were reassuring words that gave me some relief in my time of distress having lived through the week with an almost flooded bedroom and enduring water restrictions in the house.

Now we feel disappointed that this company had overcharged us (since it wasn't a weekend or night job) and they have certainly lost a customer. This is a perfect example of once bitten twice shy.

Approximate cost: $495

Very happy with the job done; James was a very friendly and professional man who explained everything so that I (who doesn't know anything about plumbing) could understand. He was also thorough in his investigation of my leaky pipe situation. He had to break a whole in my wall and made me take a photo before patching it up so that my husband could see what he'd done inside. Overall, he spent a good 3.5 hours investigating, replacing the damage pipe and water heater valve, testing and cleaning up. Thank you, James!

Approximate cost: $418
