I contacted Just Covers for a pool safety net, since we have a pool and young children. Our property complies with pool safety regulations by having self-closing doors and gates, all with latches high from the ground, so does not need a pool fence (which would not fit in our back yard). However, we needed a last line of defense because children are fast and even if we're all out in the back yard together, they can get into trouble. Actually, knowing my kids, even a pool fence wouldn't be enough to keep them out (judging by the creative ways they're bypassing the child-proof gates inside the house).
I received an indicative quote over the phone, the workers came and worked efficiently, and the result is terrific.

This review is for Nando's, Clayton VIC

I love Nando's and I like this one in particular because it is a bit larger than some of the others. There are a few different seating options including a mega-table, handy if you have a large group.
They are a little bit pricey though, so we only go here for a treat.

We love the food and often order takeaway from here. It can get a bit squishy because it's so popular, so we prefer to eat at home. They also take special requests (my dad orders sweet and sour beef in batter, which isn't on the menu) which is kind of them.

This is the pool shop I go to when I need advice about my pool or my Kreepy Krawly. The prices are not the best, but the guy that runs the store is very experienced and has always given me excellent advice.

This review is for Money Savvy Kids, Newport VIC

I was looking for a piggy bank for my son for his 5th birthday. After some internet research I came upon the Money Savvy Pig. It was just what I needed because it has four different chambers: Save, Spend, Donate & Invest, so that I can teach him that money has different uses, and not just to think about how to spend all the time.
Of course, as per my usual form, I left my research to 2 days before his birthday, thinking that I could pick up something at the local shops. When they proved useless I contacted Jacqueline from Money Savvy Kids directly and asked her if she could possibly send me the package on the same day (so that I would get it the day before his birthday and have time to wrap it and surprise him in the morning). She said she would do her best.
The poor thing had to walk to the post office in the rain, with children in tow to make up for my disorganisation, so that I would get it in time.
I am so grateful for her service, and my boy loved the pig. He wakes up every Tuesday and gets his 10 "silver coins" which he loves distributing over the different chambers in the pig.
I'll definitely be buying another for my youngest, although I might just give Jacqueline a few more days to get it to me :-)

Approximate cost: $29.95 + postage

This review is for Woods Accident Repair Centre, Mount Waverley VIC

verified email - 08 May 2012

After a very minor accident (just some panel damage) my insurance provider let me choose my repairer and I chose Woods because they were convenient and my parents had used them a number of times.
I very quickly regretted my choice. While the service was very good, the quality of work left a lot to be desired. They didn't manage to colour match the paint, they left overrun which looks like clear solid drips off the bottom of the door edge, there were specks of silver spray on the black roof rails and there were fine hairs dried into the paintwork. All things which I didn't notice when I picked up the car, but became apparent on closer inspection at home. I took the car back for them to fix the work. They still couldn't match the paint, claiming that there were six different shades of the colour on the car (which was only 3 years old), but fixed all the other complaints.
Later I found that there was clear over-spray on the headlights too, which wasn't immediately obvious (since it was clear), but in some light you could see where it was because it made the lights look cloudy. In some light you could still see the blend line where they unsuccessfully tried to blend the colour. But frankly, by that stage, I didn't want to be without a car again.
These minor cosmetic defects would be no problem really, unless you are intending to sell the car. Plus it was irritating to look at the car, knowing that the faults were there.
Later on, I found out that the management of the centre had changed a few times since my parents' experiences. It has changed again since my experience, so I can only hope it has improved.

This review is for Clear As Crystal Pool Service, Upper Ferntree Gully VIC

Ian Simpson from Clear as Crystal was recommended to me by my pool shop, as I needed my pool filter to be replaced. I was so impressed that I used him again to replace the filter at my grandma's house.
He did a terrific job and was very courteous and efficient. He got me a great price on a reconditioned motor when mine needed to be upgraded, and he cleaned up well taking the old filter and motor with him.
Highly recommended.

I visited this shop because I had noticed their shopfront (bright orange & black stripes) and my 5yo son has a passion for safety equipment. So I went with my two boys and the sales assistants were really lovely. They were very patient as my boys inspected almost every product (the store has quite a range, by the way). My son was very excited that he had saved up enough pocket money to buy a traffic cone with a reflective stripe, and he has been playing with it the whole day. They also threw in a 340 page catalogue which for sure will take care of bedtime reading for the next month.
So now my boy is back into savings mode because I suspect we will need to go back for another visit.

This review is for Petbarn Clayton, Clayton VIC

This is a very big showroom with lots of supplies for all sorts of pets. They seem to have quite a variety of products. I originally went in because they advertised a special on my dog's brand of food. Unfortunately when I went in it turns out it was not on the flavour that I buy. Upon checking the catalog I found that the fine print did say not all varieties were included in the special. That was disappointing.
Nevertheless, they had another promotion running for their loyalty program where I got 20% off the product by joining up and giving them my email, so the trip was worthwhile. Let's see if the loyalty program keeps delivering, because they would be a bit too expensive without it.
The service was good, but I did go early in the day and there were no other customers there, so it was hardly a test.

This is one of my favourite pet food shops because they have the best price for the Hills Science food that my dog eats. The owner is very friendly and remembers me and my boys every time (even what I buy) even though we only go there every 3 months.
They also have a forklift which is a hit with my boys!
