This review is for Pancakes At Carillon, Perth WA

This place is great! The pancakes are light and fluffy and the portions are quite generous. I got an all day breakfast that had four rashes of short cut bacon! Also if you just want a short stack with cream it's less than $10.00 which I think is reasonable. I would definitely go back. Unfortunately we went in school holidays. I would definitely try and avoid this if you can.

The Oriel (or the new oriel as they are now called) has been in business for years. The only thing i remember from when I was a teenager was they used to charge you to sit down if you went with friends and did not order anything. As it's now under new management me and my fiance decided to give it a go. The first thing we noticed was the decor was quite awful and did not seem to have any particular theme (modern cafe style tables, with old 70s Italian lamp shades and a bar). But really if the food is good who cares? There are many places to get good italian in Perth and this is NOT one of them. My fiance order a meat lovers pizza which was dry and burnt and I ordered chilli mussel which were small and very average. We could not believe any restaurant would send out a pizza that looked as awful as ours. As well as this we both felt quite unwell afterward. If you are looking for good Italian head, up the road to the freo cafe strip. Far superior to this rubbish.

This review is for The Party Team, Wembley WA

This really is one of the worst party shops I have ever seen. When driving past you almost wonder if it still in business or an abandoned building. Everything is everywhere, the displays are dusty and faded from the sun and there is no order to anything. It really feels like going to a swap-meat. On top of that, everything is overpriced (a pack of 10 red plastic plates was $7.95 compared to $4.50 elsewhere or $5.00 to hire ceramic ones). Its a real shame because the people that own it seem really nice. I would give them another shot based on that alone but only because I drive past. I would not go out of my way to go here. It would be great to see them invest in a shop window dresser or interior designer as I think it has potential and Perth needs more good party shops.

I have been here and few times and every time I have been very happy. The chilli mussels are the best. I find their pasta is quite average but their steaks and seafood is exceptional and reasonable value.

The prices are the same as most cafes but I like to come here because there is always loads of parking and of course it's free.

This review is for Grill'd, Subiaco WA

I love this place. Even the burgers in the USA are not this good (and I ate lots). The herbs in the chips and patties make everything so tasty and juicy. I would love to know their secret. I have not tasted a burger anywhere in the world I love as much as a grill'd burger. Personal favorite is the cheese and bacon.

The service is also fast and friendly and there are a few seating options.

But be careful, once you start you won't be able to eat another burger from anywhere else again!

I have been here twice with my fiance and both times the service has been terrible. It seems like they are always under staffed. The first time we came we were very excited but found the menu to be very confusing so we just ordered straight coffee which was fine however it took over 15min for us to receive them.

After what we thought was a false start we decided to try again. The second time coming here it took 25min for us to get two coffees (no desserts or food) which is the longest I have ever had to wait for a coffee. When they finally did arrive my partners coffee (long black) had floaty bits in it. We were told it was supposed to be like that and it was because it was "strong". They eventually agreed to a refund and we left. Great concept for a business but still a long way to go. There are so many great places in subi, I would suggest going elsewhere at least for the time being while they learn to get things right.

This review is for Oggies Ice Cream Cafe, Henley Brook WA

They have a great variety of high quality ice creams here from your standard chocolate to whiskey ice cream or even apple pie flavored ice cream. They also make it all on sight so it's really fresh. It is quite unique because although being flavorsome all the ice creams feel quite light on the stomach. Head here if you want a good old fashioned, rustic ice cream cone.

If you like coffee this place is a must! When you walk in the smell of fresh coffee is overwhelming. They import the beans and roast on site where they sell loads of different varieties (15-20 from memory). They also offer free tastings every day of the week. You can buy anything coffee related here too from beans to coffee flavoring syrups, mugs and gift baskets and even coffee machine related keyrings. I love coming here and would come anytime I was in the valley again.

This review is for The House Of Honey, Herne Hill WA

verified email - 09 Dec 2010

This is a great place that uses honey produced in the swan valley to create honey products. You can buy normal honey or flavored honey. Honey biscuits, lollipops, candles, soft toys or even honey water sparkling water (which tastes great). And then there is the honey beauty and personal care range.

Even if you are not a fan of honey it's worth having a look to see the bees working in the 'viewing hive'. There are free samples of all the honey and it is the best place to go if you are needing gift ideas. Would definitely recommend a look if you are out in the valley area.

Was quite impressed with this place. It's right on the beach and there are lots of tables inside that allow you to sit right next to the window and look straight at the ocean.

The other great thing is the coffee prices are not absorbent like more beach view cafes in Perth. $4.00 for coffee, $4.00-$5.00 for cake. I had a cappuccino which was very nice and a smartie cookie which actually had over 30 smarties on top and through it!

The only downside is the parking is at the back and you have to walk past some bins and other unpleasant things to get to the front door. I would come back again.
