This review is for Kahmon Japanese Restaurant, Shelley WA

I've visited this place a couple of times and love coming here for a bento. Depending on the mains you order, a bento will cost you around $14 or so and hit the spot. It comes with rice, agedashi tofu, salad, pickles, sushi along with the main dish. Really enjoy the teriyaki fish and ginger pork - food is quite delicious. It is a takeaway restaurant, there are seats for dining in but your food will come in takeaway containers even if you intend to dine in. The main negative about this place is the customer service - the owner is not entirely friendly and can be quite rude and abrupt. He is also very particular about no separate billing (he only took our order when our group of 6 arrived despite 3 of us arriving early and wanting to order first). But if you disregard the poor customer service, you will enjoy Kahmon for its' yummy and well-priced Japanese food.

This is my favourite place for cheap & good Japanese food around UWA. The food is tasty and delicious, and very well priced. I love the chicken katsu curry ($6.90) and also the katsu sushi rolls ($5.50 for 6). It is a popular food joint with UWA students and seating can be limited especially during lunch & dinner peak hours, so takeaway is usually the best option. This humble little shop is bound to satisfy your Japanese cravings without burning a hole in your pocket :)

This review is for Cake Delight, Applecross WA

Cake Delight serves up some wonderful cakes - the flavours are interesting and beautifully put together. I love the chocolate and pear cake, and the matcha cake looks fantastic! The cakes are yummy - they are not too rich and just nice on the palette. There is a good variety of different cakes and flavours on display and there is also the option to order cakes ahead of time. The cakes are a tad pricey but it's worth it once in a while if you really enjoy yummy cakes.

This is easily one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Perth. The food is always delicious and completely satisfying. The tomyum soups, pad thai, green curry and special basil duck are some of my favourites. The food is authentic and decor of the place adds to the atmosphere of eating there. There is ample parking by the road side and the staff are polite. You will not be disappointed eating here!

This review is for Emperor's Kitchen, Leeming WA

We come to Emperor's Kitchen when we are craving dimsum but don't want to trek all the way to Northbridge. While the quality of dimsum here differs vastly from other dimsum restaurants in the city, the food is yummy and satisfies those cravings. Staff come around quite regularly with food trolleys guaranteeing that your table will never be empty for long. It can get quite crowded especially on weekends so try to come early if you don't want to be waiting for a long time. Prices are reasonable. The bubble tea here is not bad and worth a try.

This review is for Two Fat Indians, Mount Lawley WA

I love coming to Two Fat Indians for some hearty Indian food. It's great to come with a big group of friends so you can share different dishes and try a variety of different foods. Some of my favourite dishes are the malai kofta (fried cottage cheese dumplings in a creamy cashew gravy) and butter chicken. The vegetable curries are quite delicious and definitely worth ordering. Garlic naan is a must-have accompaniment to your meal, along with some rice. I always leave this restaurant satisfied and eagerly look forward to the next occasion when I can come back again. It is not exactly cheap, so save this for special occasions or use the Entertainment Card to get 25% off your meal. But definitely check Two Fat Indians out if you are after delicious Indian food :)

This review is for Jamie's Italian, Perth WA

verified email - 20 Aug 2013

We went to Jamie's Italian on a Sunday night, having made a reservation 4 months in advance for a group of 12. There was a long line outside the restaurant when we arrived with wait times up to 1.5hours. The restaurant was lively and noisy, packed with people. When it came to the food, we did not have to wait too long for it to come after we ordered. The food was well presented and portions were decent. Taste-wise, the food was average..I had the angel hair spaghetti with squid ink and scallops and while it was tasty, it wasn't impressive and I felt like the pasta was a tad undercooked. I also tried the crab risotto which similarly was tasty but the rice was a little crunchy to the bite. Although staff were polite and friendly, it was quite difficult to get their attention in this busy restaurant and it took us about 10 minutes before we were able to order our food.

It was good to say that I've eaten at Jamie's, but it is unlikely I'll be back here anytime soon. I'd rather go to PastaCup or Ciao Italia for my Italian food cravings.

Barrett's Bread is an awesome little bakery. I'm always spoilt for choice whenever I come here - everything looks so delicious and I just want to eat everything! The food tastes as great as it looks - perfect place to come to grab a coffee and afternoon snack. The staff are friendly and approachable. This bakery is full of wonderfully baked goods that's bound to brighten anybody's day :)

This place is famous for their kolo mee and kampua and is very popular among Malaysians. The food is tasty and the menu has quite a bit of variety. Kolo mee is my favourite (they have a 'special' kolo mee but the additional cost for a few extra ingredients is not quite justified). The serving portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. If you are a big eater, they also have extra big portions - you are bound to leave this place with a full belly! Great place to check out if you like a big bowl of tasty, yummy noodles for less :)

This review is for Toast, East Perth WA

Toast used to be one of my go-to places for breakfast. The cafe is well decorated and is interestingly cute. Great setting for breakfast and brunch by the river, perfect to enjoy some sun and good weather. Food is tasty and yummy though a bit overpriced. It is a popular food joint so seating can be problematic at times. Still a place I would go to enjoy breakfast once in a while :)
