This review is for Wyld Physiotherapy, Blackwood SA

Brendan Wyld has been the physio in the Blackwood Health Centre for over 20 years. I have seen him off and on for about 15 years. He is very skilled and experienced. I also took part in his hydrotherapy class held in the pool at the Blackwood Fitness Centre following an injury, which was quite helpful. There is currently another physio working with him in the Health Centre as well.

The staff at Fotoswift are professionals who provide excellent service every time. I used to get all my camera films developed here. Now they have great facilities for getting digital camera photos developed. I've had my passport photos done here - and had no problems at all. They have a range of photo frames and other equipment and services. The staff have also been very helpful in easily, quickly and calmly resolving a problem with downloading photos from my SD card recently (while I was panicking!) Service, quality and value are all wonderful at Fotoswift and I highly recommend visiting this great local small business.

This review is for Hungry Jacks, Blackwood SA

In my opinion, Blackwood Hungry Jacks is good for what they are. The food is not restaurant quality, but that is expected here. The service is pretty good all things considered. I generally get drive-through and rarely have to wait long. The burger I order is not standard but 9 times out of 10 they get it right - even if they have to verbally confirm what I mean a second time. The hash browns are particularly good, as are the chocolate sundaes in summer. As a fast food drive-through restaurant, this one is actually reasonable.

This review is for Blackwood Village Chicken, Seafood & Chargrill, Blackwood SA

This is our absolute favourite fish/chicken shop and the best in Blackwood by far. Our family has been going to this shop for about 10 years - including back when it was Georgio's.

The food is of the highest quality and absolutely delicious. Their chickens are great and always freshly cooked (coming out just in time for tea!). The chips are tasty and crispy with great tasting chicken salt (the gravy is great too). Their fish and other seafood is very tasty. It can, however, be a little pricey for items like crumbed calamari and crumbed prawns ($1.30 per prawn). As well as chicken and seafood, they do a large range of other take-away foods such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken & bacon rolls, chiko rolls, chicken nuggets, several types of yiros and a variety of chargrilled meat. They have a good range of salads, desserts, drinks and icecreams available too.

The service is second to none. The staff are extremely friendly, happy, kind people who know all our names and (if it is quiet) are up for a quick chat. It can get very busy some nights so I recommend getting in early before all the chickens run out. I particularly like that you can place your order by phone before you go - so you're not waiting around! The atmosphere of the shop is extremely good. It was fully renovated a few years ago and is bright with a positive feel. They are open for lunch and dinner (and snacks in between). The quality, service and value here are all amazing. I highly recommend Blackwood Village Chicken, Seafood & Chargrill.

This review is for Subway, Blackwood SA

We used to eat here fairly regularly. Previously the staff were friendly, cheery, and efficient. However, recently the service and the quality have decreased quite significantly. The new staff are often sullen (as the previous reviewer pointed out), annoyed-looking and much slower to prepare the food. There are often long queues. The quality of the food has decreased while the price has become more expensive. Unfortunately, it is not as good as it once was.

This review is for Barnacle Bill, Blackwood SA

My family had butter fish, chips, crumbed prawns and crumbed calamari from here one night. No one enjoyed it. In our opinion, it was best described as tasting like plastic. It was absolutely nothing like the great quality, tasty seafood we are used to at our usual fish & chips shop. The service was reasonable and the cost was fairly cheap. However, we did not like the quality of the food at all. There is disability permit parking and it is disability accessible. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

This review is for Pizza Hut, Blackwood SA

verified email - 16 May 2013

The quality of the pizzas from here seem to have improved in recent years in my opinion. We like the thin crust pizzas, including their ham/pineapple and supreme pizzas. Their chicken wings (box of 6) are also very good but they are very very spicy indeed! The service can be a hit or miss here - quite inconsistent. Delivery is also not good. From experience it can take at least 1 hour even though we live in Blackwood. Once the staff actually said it would be at least 90 minutes so we should just pick up! Thus, I recommend this pizza hut for pick up but not delivery if you are hungry and want to eat anytime soon!

This review is for Caffe Primo, Blackwood SA

verified email - 16 May 2013

My family eats at this Caffe Primo fairly regularly and also gets take-away from here. The steaks are our favourite - their pepper sauce is particularly nice. The chips are usually excellent - long, thick and lots of chicken salt. The iced chocolates here are the best in Blackwood (although certainly not the best in Adelaide). The service is great and the staff are very friendly. It is noisy but that is to be expected. The steaks are pretty pricey and the cost of the meals is more expensive than many years ago. However, that is consistent with other restaurants and we still like eating here nonetheless. It is certainly the best cafe primo I have been to. The restaurant is disability accessible, disability-friendly and there are several disability permit parks close-by (including one right by the front door!). I would recommend this restaurant.

Have had takeaway from here dozens of times. The service is good and very fast. I can never finish a whole serve - there is so much food in those seemingly small containers! Unfortunately, prices have risen recently. We have also gotten sick a few times after eating takeaway from here. It can be a bit inconsistent - sometimes very good, other times not a pleasant experience.

This review is for The Artisan Cafe, Blackwood SA

This is hidden gem in Blackwood and my favourite cafe! The service is absolutely fantastic every time. The quality of the food and drinks is great. They source their food from mainly local suppliers. The atmosphere is really wonderful. They display local artwork and have jazz and tapas nights on weekends which are very good to attend. There is no disability permit parking nearby. However, the cafe is disability accessible and certainly disability-friendly. I would definitely recommend the Artisan Cafe!
