Dick Smith electronic shops aren't a patch on what they used to be. There was always some tech head geek working there who knew what you were talking about and could help you. Now they've just got young general retail staff. You ask for a resistor and they just give you a blank look.
Probably the best pub in Sydney. Go there for a weekend lunch and you'll see why. It is always packed. Cool retro furniture and an awesome jukebox playing non mainstream music.
Good Irish pub. Lot of music acts play here. Nice traditional table near the front door. Staff have always been pretty good. Food is ok. There is a good takeaway next door if the kitchen is closed.
It's a bit of a hidden treasure this place. Great fish and chips. A lot like Sydney fish shops. You'll pay a bit more than other Canberra fish shops but that's ok.
Good casino. Nicely fitted out with nice outdoor smoking areas. Nice lounges and heaters. The giant sports screen is awesome. The greeting staff are always nice.
Good airline to fly with. Not worried as much about dodgy maintenance practices like Qantas does. Their web site (like all Australian airline's web sites) is difficult to use and very confusing for older people.
I got a Three mobile Internet dongle, prepaid. Was easy to set up and connect to. I haven't had any service dropouts but they do closed down fairly often at 2am for half an hour or so to do maintenance. Annoying if you're a night owl.
Pretty expensive but an enjoyable shopping experience. Staff are nice, they remember your dog and it's fun for the dog to expore the store. Alexandria is an easy area to shop in.
Good for arthouse and non mainstream movies. Parking in Newtown isn't very good especially on a Sunday. Best thing bout this cinema is that you can have beer!
Have been going to Kingsleys on and off for a long time. Have never had a problem with them. The chicken in the burgers is real, good chips and gravy. Good food option when visiting the video shop next door.
Approximate cost: $8
