This review is for Hungry Jacks, Kallangur QLD

The new 24 hour Hungry Jacks on Anzac Avenue only opened a few months back and has earned a place in our family for a pleasant, clean and quick dining experience should we need it. The Drive Thru is also efficient and they don't even mind when you EFTPOS for $1 frozen cokes. The food is always fresh, hot and neatly arranged in packaging. Staff are friendly and courteous and overall it is one of the best Hungry Jacks I've been to in a long time. Refreshing to see someone doing the job well!

This review is for McDonalds, Kallangur QLD

Now I know that it's ONLY McDonalds, but honestly, the Kallangur location on Anzac Avenue is a good one and we particularly enjoy the McMuffins once a week on the way to school. Recently however, I entered the Drive Thru and was waiting at the second speaker when I heard a voice say "Place your order please". Thinking it was for the car in front, I just sat there. The speaker I was at had "Next Speaker Please" showing on the monitor. After a couple of more attempts to get my attention, I realised that the girl was talking to me and boy did she give me attitude. Not only that, but she mixed up our order big time. My medium McChicken meal came with mayo, which I didn't want, the Fanta turned into a Coke and the two large McChicken BLTs became tiny small dry McChickens a la Happy Meal size with a half piece of bacon, a slither of tomato and lettuce sticking out everywhere. And it wasn't even busy. I am all for giving the Teens a chance, but this outlet has declined quite a bit over the last few months in terms of service, food quality and cleanliness. Bring back the older lady who used to man the Drive Thru please.

This review is for Kallangur Tavern, Kallangur QLD

As far as a local goes, the Kallangur Tavern is better than most. The pleasant dining room is always full of happy diners, the food is fresh, well presented and tasty and you can't go past their $10 lunches. If you are looking for a bit more though, they offer aged beef that melts in your mouth for around the $30 mark. Staff are always friendly and it is worth a visit on Melbourne Cup day when they have heaps of sweeps and promotions. All up I'm glad this is my local!!

This review is for Kallangur News, Kallangur QLD

Don't you just love large Newsagencies with room to browse and check out magazines and cards without being harassed? Well this is one of them. Kallangur News has some of the friendliest Staff I have seen, who are always up for a chat. They also have a large supply of gifts and other merchandise and are open 7 days a week. The only down side is that if you are in a hurry, you'll never get away without having a conversation. I don't know about you, but I think this is better than a snarling teenager serving you quickly and with disdain!! Highly recommend.

This review is for Kallangur Fair Pharmacy, Kallangur QLD

These days I try to support local businesses so I have taken to visiting the Pharmacy in the local shopping centre for all my pharmaceutical means. Kallangur Fair is a friendly place and the Pharmacy is no different. Generally you are served straight away and prescriptions are filled efficiently and usually within a few minutes. This gives me time to duck into Woolies or the Newsagent. The Pharmacist is helpful and always willing to offer advice and I have seen the courteous Staff assist an old lady who had lost her purse to get what she needed immediately. Rare qualities like this should be mentioned. Highly recommend especially for the elderly who are treated kindly and with respect!!

This review is for Pizza Capers, Kallangur QLD

verified email - 06 Jun 2013

We love Pizza Capers but used to visit the Strathpine outlet which was great. Tried the Kallangur store once we moved and were relieved that the same standards seemed to apply. Our lambada and kids chicken and cheese pizzas were made relatively quickly and were still hot when we got them home. There were good amounts of topping, crispy crusts and the service was friendly and hassle free. Will visit again.

This review is for Tommo's Fish And Chips, Kallangur QLD

verified email - 06 Jun 2013

Tommos is the other Fish and Chips shop near us which we tried recently when the family had the flu and just wanted something wholesome and hearty without cooking. One word - grease. Everything was dripping in it - the skinny chips, the fish, the potato scallops. The oil definitely appeared to need a change. In addition, we were served the tiniest pieces of fish we've ever had from a Fish Shop. Have been to Tmoo's elsewhere and it was fine. Don't know what else to say but YUK!

With limited options for take away, we thought we'd try Kallangur Fish and Chips for a change. Whilst we were happy enough with the fish, the service and value, the chips, potato scallops and dagwood dogs for the kids were overcooked and chewy. On top of that the grease on the scallops was a little much and the chips were pretty tasteless. Disappointing and not sure that we'll try it again.

This review is for Sajan Indian Restaurant, Kallangur QLD

verified email - 06 Jun 2013

We have ordered from Sajan on a number of occasions and as usual the service is efficient and the food great. We always get a phone call to confirm our order and let us know how long it will be. The food is fresh, hot and made to order ie. milder curries for the kids. The flavours are authentic and remind me of food I've had in India, rather than the Western versions that many local Indian Restaurants adopt. The only complaint I have is that the samosas/pakoras are sometimes not as fresh as we would like and a little chewy. The curries are fantastic, particularly the lamb rogan josh and butter chicken. We will keep ordering from them as they are a more nutritious option than the usual fast food fare and they have a number of specials that make it reasonable value for money! Thanks Sajan.

This review is for North Lakes Golf Club, North Lakes QLD

verified email - 06 Jun 2013

Went to the Golf Club for the first time last weekend. Saturday night was busy and the service suffered appropriately, however on the whole, I was pleasantly surprised. The entrees arrived fairly quickly and my husband and I enjoyed the Antipasto Share Plate which was reasonable value. My daughter loved her Parmesan Bread which she pronounced as "Yummy". It was however a while until our mains came. The Coal Roasted Beef was tasty but a little bit colder than I would have liked and slightly overcooked. My husband thought that the Pork Belly was great, but daughter is too old for the kids menu and wasn't thrilled with the chicken. We shared the Dessert Tasting Plate and whilst it seemed like better value, it didn't knock my socks off. Overall it was good for a local night out and definitely better than your usual pub fare, but not sure if I would choose it for a special occasion. The price tag made me think that we could have got more bang for our buck, but hey, this isn't exactly the most upmarket part of town in a foodie sense. I prefer the Mango Hill Tavern.
