This review is for Melba's Chocolates & Confectionery, Woodside SA

I wouldn't say they have the best chocolate on the market but it's still high quality (maybe it's just personal taste). Going there for the experience and the range is what makes it special. Being able to watch the lollies being made is a real treat and there's plenty of souvenirs/gifts to buy. They really win with presentation. Growing up in the hills I've visited numerous times, especially during school holidays (I'd recommend taking young children there as something to do during the holidays.) I love buying a small amount of lots of different lollies/chocolates. Definitely one of the top 10 places to visit in the Adelaide hills.

This review is for Foodland, Lobethal SA

With limited personal transport having a local grocery store is great. Both the Lobethal and Woodside Foodland are located in their relevant main streets. The Woodside location feels a little dirtier...but I think its mostly due to less lighting. Unless you need something specialized (eg. egg whites) they have everything you would expect from a small town grocery store. Very convenient trading hrs (closes at 8pm) so is perfect for shopping after work or picking up a forgotten ingredient. Small business/country town prices most of the time but occasionally there will be great specials that beat even the big guys (managed to get a large 6pk of crumpets for under $2).

I visit the Woodside location more than the Lobethal one, but I always order the same things. They have amazing doughnuts that don't make you feel greasy and perfectly textured vanilla slices. Their cafe area is simple and inviting. The pastry for the pies/pasties/etc. is beautifully golden and crisp. The pies are NEVER cold in the middle! They have a great range of gelati which they serve in generous portions. Would recommend the bee-sting cake - the cream they use is perfectly sweet yet not overpowering. Some items are a little pricey...but it's fresh baked everyday, so you get what you pay for.

This review is for Wright Guitars, Mount Barker SA

During my high school years I chose to do work experience there for a week and got to know the business first hand. Tim Wright owns and runs the business by himself. He does excellent repairs on guitars and won't rip you off. A friendly atmosphere where your welcome to try out guitars in the store. Being a small business lets the customers have a better relationship with the store, and having a friendly conversation with Tim or one of his staff isn't out of place. I usually buy maintenance items like strings and guitar picks but I also purchased a guitar. Tim was very honest about the guitar's specs and gave me advice on how to get the most out of the guitar. If you want to support local business as a musician I highly recommend Wright Guitars.

Booked a hotel last minute no problem. Got an email asking me to give a review (optional) but other than that I was happy with their service. Website is easy to navigate and booking options are displayed in an easy to view fashion.

This review is for Giovanni Pizza, Mount Barker SA

Best pizza I've ever had! After a single visit I fell in love with their perfect bases - crisp on the outside and soft on the inside (I would personally recommend the Large Margherita pizza for just under $20 which is enough for 2 adults). Despite friends running late for a dinner it didn't hurt our experience. Giovanni's is open til late (around 10ish give or take) and still continue to serve pizzas. The staff is friendly and quick. You get what you pay for here, higher prices for a high quality small business. The atmosphere is pleasant, the menu is large (pizza isn't all they're great at - pasta dishes and desserts), and the layout makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Another plus is being able to see what's going on in the kitchen. Separate M/F toilets, simple and clean.
