This review is for Skybury Coffee, Mareeba QLD

Apart from the tour, the cafe/restaurant at Skybury's Australian Coffee Centre is certainly worth a visit alone. The Australian coffee certainly does taste pleasantly different, while the meals are well cooked and honest. This venue would make wonderful setting for a wedding reception - the surrounds are quite breathtaking.

Don't be fooled by the 'Curry Club' name or the location of this restaurant - this place certainly punches above its weight, providing more than respectable meals that are really good value. The service is a standout - very polite and accommodating for our family. We really loved the Saag Gosht - far from the worst one that we have tried!

This review is for The Glen Hotel, Eight Mile Plains QLD

The Glen Hotel is a classic, honest location that is well suited to a few drinks with the girls or just a pleasant night out - the food will not blow you away, but the patrons are generally relaxed, with all having a good time. We organised a farewell function there and while there was some confusion with payment and the like, the staff were pretty well versed in executing this sort of thing with minimal fuss. The finger food wasn't too bad. We go there regularly and I certainly recommend it for its ambience and location.

This restaurant doesn't rest on its location, with smart service and satisfying meals consistently delivered. Overall it is an excellent and typically Queensland coast dining experience - I could eat here everyday I think. It is relaxed and the menu really does utilise a great range of local and Australian seafood. The Moreton Bay Bugs are outstanding. Highly recommended, particularly if you are wanting to take some visitors to a beautiful Queensland restaurant.

This review is for Scratchleys on the Wharf, Newcastle NSW

If I could describe this place in one word, I'd say it is overrated in terms of value for money and quality of the meals. After the first time there, we weren't overly impressed and decided we'd give it the benefit of the doubt, however the second instance didn't get any better. While service was to a high standard, the portion sizes on all occurrences were disappointing. Quality of the food is also a concern - Paymasters is hands down a far superior experience all round and is just a short stroll away.

This review is for Spring Lake Hotel, Springfield QLD

My husband and I have been to the Spring Lake Hotel three times - on all occasions, we have been impressed by the quality of the food and the ambience of the restaurant. It is very pleasant and child friendly with plenty of space for them to move around if needed. The staff are fairly well trained, and the wait for the food is not overly excessive. Food quality is probably the best you're going to get in the Springfield area if you are after a pub meal. Overall, a pleasurable experience and recommended.

This review is for Landmark Restaurant, Sunnybank QLD

As the name suggests, most people know this restaurant - the Yum Cha does taste great (it is dominated by seafood-based dishes), but make sure you take people who you are going to have a good time with - the service is abysmal and generally apathetic if you have a query or question. Apart from this downside, the ambience is always pretty intense, particularly on Saturday mornings!

This review is for Cafe Avion, Fyshwick ACT

If you're after some informal cafe fare, then Cafe Avion is a great place to go within Brindabella Park Offices. While it is a bit high school like, (grab your tray, pick up what you want and move along the line to pay), the place is practical and fast if you are in a hurry. The coffee isn't too bad to be honest and the rolls and wraps are always pretty fresh. Prices aren't too bad when compared to surrounding cafes, but you pay for the service! An average, but honest cafe - I wouldn't hesitate going back here.

This review is for Fat Goanna Cafe And Bar, Pialligo ACT

verified email - 01 Feb 2012

The Fat Goanna is arguably the best place for a coffee, for breakfast or for lunch within Brindabella Business Park Offices. The ambience is pretty impressive and the quality of the food is very very good. Service is well executed, but the cost of some items is pretty high. Pasta of the day is always very good and not too bad a price - serving size is certainly acceptable. Coffee is quite good (best in area) and it is a good place to unwind from the office if you need break. I highly recommend this cafe.

This review is for Bread & Butter, Pialligo ACT

verified email - 01 Feb 2012

Bread & Butter Cafe is centrally located within the Brindabella Business Park Offices. The coffee is respectable, but not outstanding, while the schnitzels for lunch are pretty good (but then again, how could you not get a schnitzel right?!). Service is a bit cold and could be improved, but then again, my husband and I went near the end of the lunch session in mid December, so it could have been a tough day for the staff. I wouldn't go out of my way for Bread & Butter, but then again, it isn't that bad.
