I had no idea it had changed to Indian and Chinese cuisine! The owner own Da Uday so I see where it's stemmed from, but it needs a name change!
My personal experience was finding STEEL WOOL in my desert, when I complained we were only offered free drinks (could be a win if I wasn't pregnant and had only had one coke!) very awful, and dealt with horribly!

Hi Britranyf2, hopefully you will not pay any attention to the highly questionable review/comment made by Sam786786, as he/she clearly doesnâ??t know what he is talking about. This combined with his questionable TrustFactor, shocking English/punctuation and the fact that he joined WOMO only to comment on this one business, appears highly likely that this individual is somehow connected with the business in question. Since the serious alterations to menu/signage were made (some time ago now), the business has been doing poorly, with hardly any patronage. (For some reason, the business in question seems to erroneously believe that repeatedly changing the position of their fairy lights will increase attendance.) One is left wondering how on earth they manage to remain in operation, when any normal business would have closed their doors. Clearly money is not an issue for this establishment and one wonders whether it might be a front for something more sinister. Irrespective of this, your experience of finding steel wool in your food was inexcusable and the matter was not dealt with in any responsible manner! Thanks for continuing to share your experiences. It breaks my heart to give Veer's a one star.

At one time this was a great go to place, night out with friends, special occasions - you name it was a place we would always go.

Beautiful mains meals (Veer's special steak -- came with mushrooms, avocado and a beautiful Marsala wine sauce... if you ordered it with steamed vegetables you'd get one of these awesome potato balls with a crispy bread crumb outside, soft delicious mash potato with mild herb taste on the inside... perfect to soak up all that extra Marsala wine sauce).

The design on the inside the restaurant was beautiful exposed wooden beams, nice lighting... quiet with a little bit of music in the background... Very friendly and polite staff who would ask how your meals are, hand cracked pepper.

Your thinking... this doesn't sound bad at all... why the one star?

I'll tell you why - the menu change... this wasn't even a small change... oh no no no.

Veer Italia... emphasis on Italian dining in the name in the name of the actual restaurant... is now ONLY Indian and Chinese cuisine.

The light jazz in the background, now replaced with the sounds of Bombay. The delicious steaks and pastas - GONE... and replaced with the smells of poppadoms and generic curry...

You don't even have the decency to update your website, let alone change the business name.

So disappointed that our party of four politely told the waitress "no thanks, we wanted Italian".

You broke my heart that day Veer Italia... it was like coming home from a hard days work and finding your high school sweetheart in bed with half the St Kilda football team... You broke my heart...

That's why you receive 1 star, that's why I'll never return again.

Mongoose and Wombat: It defies logic why any business would embrace such an illogical (and radical) change and for once in my life, I am rendered speechless.

Some businesses just let you down after years of good running. I know a chicken shop nearby where people just couldn't stop themselves from going at one state to now a 'meh'. At least our chicken and salad shop they've still the same menu just the service has gone missing.

The signage on the afore-restaurant has finally changed (somewhat) to accommodate the new menu. While the sign appears to have been repainted, for some illogical reason it appears that management have decided to retain the Italian (national) colours. While the restaurant’s name has officially changed to more adequately reflect the cuisine transformation, the new name, ‘Veer Indian and Chinese’ just seems lacking and unimaginative. While the website mentions the change in cuisine, menu items remain elusive and the website is still sporting the previous title.

I will go back, only for the yummy pizza,It was really yummy. The vegetarian with hot salami.Or I will get it take-away.I have tried this restaurant several times with people, a couple of birthdays,a free meal voucher and the meals I had previously had were not good, and overpriced, you come to expect that in Ballarat unfortunately. So this time I thought I would order something that surely an Italian restaurant could cook, and they did.The drinks were slow and the coffee not good and the atmosphere nothing to write home about but the waitress was friendly and the venue clean,as well as the restrooms.

This place was the worst meal I have ever had out in Ballarat. I'll explain our experience in chronological order. Arrived at 7PM, sat down and ordered our drinks. Drinks took 10 minutes to come out and half of them were missing, had to call the waiter to get the rest. 15 minutes after that they took our order's of entrees and mains. 30 minutes after that our entrees arrived (bruchetta served on naan bread? WTF?)... 20 mins after that the waiter came out to explain they had deleted our main orders off the computer and we would have to order again. (This was about 8:30 they came out and told us this, been there for 1 and a half hours). Our food then didnt arrive until a bit after 9PM, all in staggered lots so half of the table was finished before the other half even got theirs. So the meals are now out. 1) I had Gnocci, it was in huge balls and was not cooked, another person on the table had the same and theirs was not cooked either. Another person ordered a chicken dish and was about to start eating it and the waiter rushed over, said that was the wrong meal and just picked it up and walked off....(rude) the correct meal then came out and my friend started eating it.. got into the middle and it was raw (raw chicken not good!) None of the other meals were very good, no one said they enjoyed their meals. My friend who had the raw chicken got their meal for free.... but really they didn't eat any of it. The 2 Gnocci's we still had to pay for, and when I spoke to the owner and said they were raw she went and spoke to the chef and said he apologises, he didn't cook them for long enough (really??). I would assume a competent chef wouldn't send out food unless it was cooked, but obviously I was wrong.

It was very overpriced for the quality of the food and the service that we received.

Approximate cost: $24

A good restaurant should get it right, first time and every time - they shouldn't need more than one chance to impress someone. The idea of this review is to let people who they are getting themselves into, and to allow them to make better choices when deciding where to eat...... It Veer Italia (or should I say you?) wants to attract more people, then lift your damn game!

Naanu-60: What an ignorant comment to make! JoshT’s experience remains a valid one, irrespective of whether or not you agree with it. How many chances would you have customers give a badly run business? Not all of us have money to waste on over-priced, poor quality food and ‘one’ negative experience to some of us is one too many. If however the business in question apologized profusely and made active attempt to solve any ongoing issues, this would be different, but from the negative ratings I have read (on this and other websites) this doesn’t appear to be the case. Incidentally, since when was bruchetta served on naan bread an Italian staple? In relation to the reports I have read in relation to undercooked chicken, this is nothing more than a simple and inexcusable health violation and would potentially see the end to this (or any other) incompetently run restaurant. If these comments however happen to be coming directly from the restaurant in question (which is a WOMO violation in itself), I have one comment to make, “If you don’t like receiving reviews with a ‘negative’ content, fix the issues at hand and make an added effort to please your customers and you will see your ratings improve across the board.” No-one should be offering excuses for such poor quality.
