WE only stopped in for a short visit after shopping in the CBD. Disappointed we did not get to try the food. It was nice and quiet and we enjoyed a drink while watching the Darts on Foxtel.
Hope we can get back to sample the food one day.
While staying in Ballarat we decided to try the nearby Fish shop,Marty's. We soon discovered we over ordered as the fish was so enormous some of it was wasted. The batter was a bit on the soggy side and the chips could have been better. Not overly impressed.
Having visited Beechworth Bakery in Echuca, this was top of my list to do in Ballarat! The pies and pasties are amazing and that goes for the cakes too! Especially the french vanilla custard slices!Prices are very reasonable and although it is a huge place, get there early for lunch or you will have trouble finding a table! I wish we had them in Adelaide. Pardon the pun, but they would crap all over Vili's.
For anyone who is a lover of yesteryear! Sovereign Hill Museum is one of the cleanest, well kept museums and pioneer village I have visited. There is so much to see it's recommended that you spend at least the whole day there. The kids will enjoy panning for gold in the creek and so will the parents. Highly recommended for kids studying Australian history!
What more could you want when you are visiting Sovereign Hill Museum! Just a very short walk up the hill! Fantastic Apartments! Very modern, comfortable, clean and not very far to the Ballarat CBD. Spacious and one of the most eco conscious places to stay. With high ceilings and rooftop windows to let in the natural sunlight.I would recommend anyone to stay there.
As a dedicated Fruchoc lover,I had to visit the factory! OMG! Wall to wall chocolate covered everything! It was so hard to choose what to buy. Fruchocs and Crown mints are very well known here in S.A. and it's good to know they are now interstate. I will be back.
Fabulous cakes and pastries. I had one of their Award winning meat pies! Best one I've had for ages. The cakes looked so yummy they are irresistable!
Only in Broken Hill for a short visit,it was the first place to get information on the local area and it's history. Not having transport we were limited to walking and the information from the friendly staff gave us a few places to see. The centre also has souvenirs and a Gloria Jeans Cafe. Very informative and would recommend the first place to go when staying here for a few days!
Fantastically big modern Club but left us a bit disappointed.
The meal was not the best and the staff seemed somewhat friendly. The doorman was very cheerful and we thought we might have an enjoyable night. Meals ordered from the specials list were like "only what you paid for". Too much salad and not enough else. Not even chips with the fish! The gaming room was ok but the coffee I had was the worst I have tasted. Needs a bit of improvement!
After visiting other venues in Broken Hill, we found this club to be the most friendly for service and the best for meals.Even on a Wednesday,it was "packed to the rafters" with people for dinner. The meal was great for value, served very quickly and most of all, delicious. The gaming room was excellent and will provide a bit of fun,win or lose.
