WARNING WARNING WARNING

I took my pet to Petvax for a simple spey operation. Things seemed ok and I wasnt too concerned by the fact that the head vet wasnt even there to speak to me or anything when I went to pick my girl up. I have had experience with working for vets so I knew everything anyway and therefore, it didnt matter to me much. It was 5 days later that things started to go wrong. My girl started to have omental fat coming through her skin sutures. I knew this wasnt from her licking or worrying her sutures as I had been pedantic about having someone with her 24hrs a day as she is a massive sook. She was taken back in to see this vet after a brief conversation on the phone in which he basically told me it was my fault and that I must not have cared for her properly (what a load of rot that was and it rang alarm bells straight away). When I took her in, he refused to even see my dog, allowing the vet nurse to do the exam and give me advice. It was obvious that she wasnt very happy doing this and told me that the fact that I had followed emergency vet's advice by covering the wound meant that I would have cooked the flesh!!! I had done no such thing and was concerned by the stuff that was being told to me. I was then told to give them another $200 to fix her or take her home on antibiotics insisting that she had undone her skin sutures when in fact, they were entirely intact. I was terribly upset and left to go to another vet straight away. This vet said that she has done several repairs from this vet's surgeries and that in every case, neglilgence was the sole cause of the need for repair! When she opened up the dog, there were no internal sutures at all and the little bit of material that she found was so lightweight that it was NEVER going to hold together anything on a 40kg dog like mine! If I had of left her, as per their advice, she would have died and they wouldnt have cared less! I would be very wary about using this vet..they are unprofessional and incompetetant. Not only did they almost kill my dog but the so called "budget" spey was over $400 before we even had problems!!! I, just yesterday, used national desexing network vouchers and had another of my dogs speyed and chipped for only $200!!!!! While these guys may be able to vaccinate (lets face it-anyone with any experience at all can do this with no dramas and even those without can do it quite easily) but they cannot operate and I wouldnt risk it on a beloved part of the family. BEWARE!!!

Approximate cost: $400
