I have both received flowers from this florist, and ordered them, both in the shop to collect and for delivery, and each time been very happy with the product and the service.
They have a wide range of flowers and bouquet options that are lovely and colour coordinated and always smell devine. They also have a range of price points, which is always important. Even their cheaper bunches are still quite nice.
Don't be put off by their website only either - in store they have cheaper bunches that are put together so they are really elegant and lovely still. The website kinda put me off initially when they have "shop by price" and the cheapest tab is $65, when you have done a bit of a work collection to get flowers for someone and only have $40 that causes a bit of panic, but they do have options that suit the smaller budgets.
Lovely, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff which is fantastic too. You don't get stuck with blank looks or dirty looks when you give them low budgets like you are wasting their time, which I have had in other florists, and makes me feel really uncomfortable.
Worth a try if you are in the area.

I really like this place as a bit of a Weekend afternoon catch up venue. It generally isn't to crazy busy at those times, so you can easily grab a seat and chat with friends over a beer.
They have a pretty wide range of beers, for about $6 or so each, which I find pretty reasonable. The food less so, it is not an extensive menu and is kinda expensive. That said, you do get a pretty decent serving on your plate.
It has a cool decor, the bar is awesome, normal top but built with old books, I really like it. The walls around the pool table are covered in comic book pages and another wall has bookshelves with more old Readers Digest books. A bit funky to my mind. Have picked up a book on occasion when waiting for late friends, and been happily kept occupied.
The main letdown of this place is the staff. I don't know if it is their intention, but they all maintain an attitude of complete indifference at most times, except when they are talking to each other and ignoring customers at the bar.
Overall, I quite like this place and recommend it definitely for a beer with friends.

This review is for Yatala Pies, Yatala QLD

It is simply not possible to say anything bad about this awesome business!
They have amazing pies, a really wide variety and you can buy them either cold or heated. The beauty of this is that they freeze beautifully, so you can grab one for now (hot) and munch on it on the way home, and a few others (cold) to pop in the freezer for the next time you have a craving and can't make it down to Yatala.
On average you are looking at about $5 per pie, and they are worth it - nice solid chunky items, not dodgy, no filling type things.
Most people I know drop in on the way to or from the Gold Coast, but I do have one friend who used to go weekly and buy about 40 pies to take to work at night for everyone he worked with. He did this for about 8 weeks, it was absolutely crazy, but made him the most popular staff member on the night shift. They really are that good that you will have everyone around you jealous.
Absolutely worth the drive, in my opinion no matter where you live :-)

This review is for Whywait Plumbing Services, Coomera QLD

verified email - 11 Nov 2012

I will admit that I have fairly limited knowledge and experience with plumbers, so when I say these guys are good it is not by comparison but rather just their direct impact on my.
Having been a renter for ever, it was always someone else's problem when anything went wrong... Oh how I miss those days :)
Anyway, Whywait are based down the Gold Coast, but service the Beenleigh area too, thus my experience with them.
Issues with the toilet of the serious, deal with right now, things going the wrong direction kind occurred and we really needed someone out quickly.
The guy showed up quickly, was nice and polite, actually bothered to explain what was going on and did his diagnostic thing. Sadly for us the diagnostic results lead to about 5 hours of work needing to be done, but again, the situation was completely explained and dealt with quickly. Whilst I will never know if trade type people are ripping me off cause I am a woman, at least this one didn't make me feel like that is what was going on, which for me is a happy win!
Whilst I hope no one has any overflowing toilet issues that actually require emergency plumbing services, if you should find yourself in need of help, they are worth the call.

This review is for Roberto's Cakes & Pastries, Springwood QLD

Such absolutely lovely cakes at Roberto's.
This shop has been there for absolutely ever, and I think based on their awesome product they always will be.
The shop is located on the service road in Springwood, first left after Watland street if you are coming from City direction. It is open 7 days, from about 9-4 on weekends, so you are set for last minute products for parties if you have poor memory like me.
While the name is Cheesecake, they have more than just this - strudels, cakes, gateaus - all devine. Today we had an International themes party we needed to bring a plate for, so we picked up an American Bakes Cheesecake, which was a huge hit. The temptation to get the amazing Black Forest cake was high, but I bought it for work a few weeks back so figured we would go with something else.
They have candles and decoration things like that too, so you really are set to grab whatever you might need in there. Big chocolate disks with "Happy Birthday" are my favourite.
Also, if you are smart enough to get in early, you can order things. They can do big slabs on their whole range if you want as well, so it is easier to cut for big parties.
Obviously, the prices range according to what you buy, but generally you ar looking at $20-30 for a full cake across their range.
The staff are lovely a friendly and happy to help with any enquiries as well!!

This review is for SouthBank Cinemas, Cineplex, South Brisbane QLD

This is pretty much the only place I go to see movies, excluding when I am given gift vouchers as gifts for other places.
They are crazy cheap compared to other places (like $8.50 for adults, cheaper for students, and on Tuesdays and during the day) for the ticket itself and also for the food products that you can purchase there.
They have 5 cinemas and heaps of variety in the movies that they show. It's not like you only get old movies or anything, they have all the new releases and really good times that they are on - exactly the same in every way to other cinemas but half the price.
The location is fabulous, there are heaps of eating venues around to grab dinner before or after the film, and free parking under the complex for up to 4 hours if you see a film and get your parking ticket validated. If you go over the 4 hours you get hammered with parking, so be careful of that (it is $35, so completely kills the cheap movie experience if you get hit with it). You can also park in Southbank and walk over, the general parking there is only $15 so with the ticket and food savings you still really come out on top, if you are car pooling.
The cinemas themselves are comfortable, good chairs, easy to snuggle with your partner if you want, and lots of room. The screens are nice and clear and big.
They do ask that you take all your rubbish with you and put it in the bins when you leave. I am a bit of a crazy on this whenever we go - to keep the venue cheap they count on their customers to do the right thing and not trash the place, because they don't have as many staff there to clean up. That does sometime mean if you see a later show on a busy day the cinema isn't entirely spotless, but I really don't blame the staff for that, customers need to take responsibility for their inability to keep their popcorn in their mouth.
While yes the main advantage of this place (and the other Cineplex cinemas around Brisbane) is the cheap ticket, you really don't have to compromise and lose other features like you might think. Definitely a great family friendly outing that won't send you broke.

Approximate cost: $8.50

This is one of those shops that you walk past almost daily when you are in the shops and yet never walk into until one day you do. They have been there for ages, but whenever I was their they were insanely busy (a good sign) and I could never be bothered waiting for something I wasn't entirely sure I wanted or would like.
Anyway, long story (if you read my reviews this will be something you are used to) short, last weekend I went in because there were only 2 people in the store (other than the staff) and I really was committed to the kebab idea at the time.
The staff were generally brisk, not entirely up for a chat, but I guess they are busy and need to get their thing done, so that isn't necessarily a bad thing. They weren't rude or anything at all like that.
They are happy to pop heaps of salads and stuff on and make an awesome chicken kebab.
They have tables a few inside and outside so you can sit and have a bit of a snack mid shop, or take it in its bag and eat on the run if you need.
If you are checking out Centro Springwood, I think it is probably the healthiest and most filling option in the entire centre.

I had walked past this shop a ridiculous amount of times in the past, but one day when chemist didn't have what I wanted I wandered after the chemist recommendation that perhaps they could help me.
There is such a huge variety of health food products available in this store that it can actually be a little daunting and confusing if you aren't entirely sure what it is you are after.
I found on my first visit the product I wanted, but a week or two later went back looking for some cleansing type products and was entirely bamboozled.
Luckily, the staff are super amazing. They spend really quite a lot of time with me, discussing pros and cons with me, letting me know if the cheaper versions were acceptable (often they said they were really equitable, which I really appreciate) and explained how each product worked and how to take it - like put 20mL in your 1L water bottle daily, or mix 5g with juice in the morning or whatever. They wrote down instructions for everything I bought so I would remember when I got home as not everything was on the labels. That is really amazing service in my book.
The beauty of this shop is that it is a small local shop - you don't have to venture into a huge complex to find them and get sucked into buying heaps of other things you simply don't need.

This review is for Ahmets Turkish Restaurant, South Brisbane QLD

I have gone here a number of times over the years, most recently in the past week, and generally found it really high in quality. I definitely recommend it to check out if you are in the Southbank area.
The staff are generally quite nice and efficient, even when they are busy.
The food I have never had a problem with - they have quite a varied menu including starters, mains etc. I have been there on occasion to just have dips with friends before moving on, and also to have an actual meal.
One of the greatest positives that I have experienced is that they don't try to push you out. Even when we have been well and truly finished our meal, and still sitting at the table for 30+ minutes, the staff haven't forced more food on us or suggested me should leave, which is always really nice when you are having a great night out.
That said - I do this it is fair they let you sit when you are finished, cause in all honest, you are likely to sit there for quite a while to begin with. Whilst everyone is nice and all, it is no fast food by any stretch of the imagination. The staff take orders pretty quickly, but the wait for the food can be a bit ridiculous. Once you know that it is fine, but the first time I went we had play tickets and had to basically run out the door and the whole way to the theatre after our meal because they took so long.
Overall though, definitely a lovely restaurant with a great experience with performances on a couple of nights.

This review is for Springbok Foods, Oxenford QLD

This is one of those businesses that I am recommending because they make my husband happy, rather than having any particular concern for them myself.
Whilst they do lots of products, imported from South Africa, my husband is a huge fan of their meat products which is really all we have purchased or had any experience from.
I don't know how, but rather than marrying a man who wants to have a man cave with beer brewing, I got one who likes to make his own dried meat. Weird. To go along with that, he likes to buy dried meat products for a variety of places to (a) supplement his own production and (b) get ideas on different things he can do when he discovers something he likes.
Springbok Foods produce some really delicious meat products. I don't like everything they make personally, some of the jerky I won't even kiss my husband after he devours it because it plain stinks, but he loves it all. They have some nice biltong that I have tried and quite enjoyed though. To be honest I didn't know (or really care) that there were different types or techniques or whatever when it came to dried meats, but there is plenty to learn and know if you care to.
It is super easy to order online and get yourself stocked up on a variety of different things.
Again - they have more than meats, they are all I have ever explored though, so can only really give recommendation on that, which is the point of me putting them on here. I am sure other things rock too though. And I can guess that the service and knowledge from the staff would be the same across the board.
Anyhoo, if you have a weird husband like me, or enjoy dried meat products (or South African products really) have a click to their website and check it out.
