Target Parkes is an excellent tidy store. I wanted to purchase sheets which were on sale in the catalogue. My local Target in Sydney had sold out the first day they were advertised so I dropped in the Parkes store when I was visiting and they had plenty available in stock.
Great find in the lower mountains. They do a consistently good coffee but their menu and food can sometimes leave you wanting more.
We stayed at the The Cullen for 5 nights in December. The rooms are spacious and decorated in the art theme. A kitchenette is in the room along with a large fridge. Parking is available underneath for $20 per day. The location of the hotel is excellent. The Prahran markets are across the road and the deli opens early for breakfast supplies. A tram stop to the city is just outside the front door and South Yarra designer shops are a short walk away.
The Lunar Drive In is one of the last three remaining drive-ins in Vic. It has 3 screens and is excellent value for a family outing. David Kilderry has his on website on the history of drive in in Australia. http://www.drive-insdownunder.com.au/australian.htm
Dromana Drive In is one of the last three remaining drive-ins in Vic. It has 3 screens and is excellent value for a family outing. Shells Diner is excellent.
Coburg Drive In is one of the last two remaining drive-ins in Vic. It has 3 screens and is excellent value for a family outing.
Heddon Greta Drive In is one of the last two remaining drive-ins in NSW. Due to Scott and family efforts it has remained true to the 1950's Drive In feel.
We visited USA twice during our visit to Melbourne. The range of American food is excellent and value for money. Checkout service was quick accurate and efficient. The range is much better than is available at David Jones.
This restaurant is located at the old Johnny Rockets site and has retained the Johnny Rockets 1950's soda fountain style of restaurant. Overall quality of food is good to excellent with a recommendation for the Big Bopper burger. All needs and tastes of the 1950's can be found with good friendly fast service.
Misty's is an pleasant 1950's style American Cafe. The menu is extensive and reflects the food of the 1950's era.
