Beautiful place. Stunning artworks and decor. Wish I could stay forever but unfortunately I could not!
Great location, right on Chapel Street. Stone's throw from Chapel Street and very, very close to the city and all the sites.

Loved staying here for my birthday. They were kind and allowed me to have a few girls in my room to get ready for the big night out. The art is strange and some people didn't like it.. but hey; it creates conversation and I like that. The service was good and the room was a really good size. I would certainly stay again. The bed is comfy too.

I stayed at The Cullen earlier this month. It was a treat and a night away from our small children.

The check-in was ok, although we were put wrong about a $25 voucher we had and where we could use it. On checking out we were fobbed off with 'yeah, that will come off when the credit card bill goes through'. A few days later, turned out it hadn't. I called the hotel (something I rarely do but I'm trying to get better about complaining about bad service as well as complimenting good service) and got treated fairly badly and told we were put wrong about the voucher on check-in. The person on the other end after saying they would credit us the $25 put me on hold and came back then put me on hold straight away again. Coming back again she then did a big act of 'I can't hear you' and hung up on me. I was a bit stunned but called right back. Got a fair amount of attitude and then a concession that maybe they'd refund me the $4 we spent on room service (the rest was spent in one of their restaurants on the incorrect advice we received when we checked in).

They did refund just the $4. I did get the feeling the staff were having a huge laugh about how to deal with me while they had me on hold. We probably wouldn't splash out on The Cullen again. The rooms are gorgeous but the service is a bit arrogant.

I choose to stay at the Cullen, purely because of its convenience and location.

The Cullen is located perfectly for shopping and dining - opposite the Prahran Market, a minute from Chapel Street.

Whatever you want is right there. Gourmet foods, excellent cafes & restaurants and shopping - high end fashion designers mixed with bargain stores and all the usual offerings.

Jump on the tram to go to city, South Yarra, Richmond or wherever.

It's a lovely little walk down through the park at the back of the hotel which takes you to Greville St and down to the Prahran Railway Station. (if you want to avoid Chapel).

Take your time and drop in the the small boutiques and have a coffee with locals.

Rooms at the Cullen have good layouts and are clean, cute, functional and well appointed. The artwork in this Art Series hotel is not my cup of tea - it is quite graphic and bloody. I suppose other people might like it, but I just zone it out.

Last time I stayed at the Cullen I was very disappointed with customer service. The desk staff were flat and unwelcoming, chatting amongst themselves and seeming bored and disinterested. Service in the street cafe attached was very bad with a one hour wait to get a drink served (in a very quiet time).

I don't mind the lack of service though - all I want is the room and the access to all the wonders of Prahran that I love.

We booked 'Lady Luck Penthouse' for a function. It is a beautiful contemporary designer space. Very sophisticated and luxe. Conveniently located. The hotel staff are very helpful in event/venue management. We were impressed with the level of professionalism. Definitely right on par with international 5 star hotel groups.
A great alternative to private boutique restaurant bars or function/reception venues.

Such a gorgeous and unique experience to be had here. Our room was utterly quirky and whimsical, loved the giant horse illustration on our shower screen though the rooms are a little on the smaller side I didn't mind it one bit. Great views, location and lovely staff

We stayed at the The Cullen for 5 nights in December. The rooms are spacious and decorated in the art theme. A kitchenette is in the room along with a large fridge. Parking is available underneath for $20 per day. The location of the hotel is excellent. The Prahran markets are across the road and the deli opens early for breakfast supplies. A tram stop to the city is just outside the front door and South Yarra designer shops are a short walk away.

Something that little bit different! Looking for a slightly different 'dirty weekend' with my dear wife, we looked for a Hotel off the so-called beaten track. In other words, we wanted something not quite in the Melbourne CBD, with Prahran coming in as the perfect option. Being so close to South Yarra meant some designer shopping was a nothing more than a tiny piece of shoe leather away, as is the night life et al. We stayed at this boutique hotel for two nights, with part of the attraction a significant array of 2000 Archibald Prize-winning artist, Adam Cullen. Off the wall, his abstract outlook certainly attracts attention - but no always for the right reasons.

Bedding was fantastic, the general decor gorgeous, and, well, it had a lot going for it. That said, parking is at an absolute premium, and they charge for internet use. Personally, internet should be free these days. Several Foxtel channels were included, as was a decent enough mini bar... along with a great kitchenette. Close to everything that matters, nice staff, chic interior. Well worth the trip.
