This review is for Target Country, Bentleigh VIC

This is an old fashioned Target 'Country' store. It's a huge dated warehouse that is in desperate need for a make-over. The shelving is old and there isn't much convenience here. There is absolutely nothing visually appealing about this space. I suspect many people walk through simply for the shortcut between Coles and Centre Road. Nonetheless it's a good stop for socks, undies, towels, kids clothes, lollies and household emergencies - the usual Target buys. They seem to have massive sales all the time.

Great shop for beautiful giftwrap, stationary, small gifts and knick-knacks & gift cards. Not the cheapest place for these things - but it's good quality things all in the one spot, and certainly saves time going around looking for the one thing that might be a good deal. I recently stocked up on Christina Re paper here for my engagement party invitations (easier than driving to Essendon). The staff were friendly and helpful, and were happy to take their time to show me pictures in books for ideas and how different colours work together in a finished piece. This is a convenient one-stop shop.

This review is for Fresh Nut Centre, Bentleigh VIC

The Fresh Nut Shop has been in Bentleigh for as long as I remember. They sell (by the kilo)_ fresh nuts, dried fruits, beans, lentils, coffee, imported candy, and other small canned goods. All excelletn quality. Seems like a family run business - the service and vibe hasn't changed for 20 years! This place makes me feel good about contributing to the local community.

This review is for Destino Latin Bar, Windsor VIC

Cute Latin cocktail bar with salsa/bachata dancing on Sunday nights and live latin music on Friday nights. The bar staff are nice and friendly and the venue is laid out in a Mexican theme. It's a narrow bar and can get quite 'cosy'. It has atmosphere, and apparently they serve Mexican food but I haven't tried it yet.

This review is for All So Thai Restaurant, Glen Huntly VIC

Cute little Thai retaurant in the 'burbs serving taditional Thai favourites - green/red curry, noodles, coconut rice, tom yum etc. Full of flavour and fresh ingredients. Generous serves. Home delivery for minimum $20. Not the best Thai I've ever tried but it has its place, like a good ol' local pizzeria.

Approximate cost: $12

Great holisitc centre with tarot, clairvoyant, psychic medium, reiki and other healing. Lots of books and some bits and pieces. I had a great and accurate reading here, as did my partner. The reader was a bit all over the place but somehow it came together. The rooms are cosy and warm. This would have to be the best reading I've had in melborne city and the centre doesn't fake a witchcraft/ mystical vibe (e.g. Spellbox). It's pure and caring service with and by normal people. I'll be back!

This review is for Antique Bar, Elsternwick VIC

verified email - 15 Aug 2011

Great local bar which seems rare in the 'burbs. Lives up to its name with antique furnishings. Has a widely stocked bar and good service. A bit grubby in places. It's a great place for a drink with friends, but not classy enough for a date.

This review is for Morning Sun Vineyard, Main Ridge VIC

Lovely winery and olive grove with restaurant and accommodation on site. Great hilltop view and cosy vibe. We stayed in their Pakalni cottage which was a funky 60s cottage with comfortable modern furnishings - whilst cool and vibe-y, it is need of some renovation. We found the staff to be really friendly and accommodating and the breakfast, wines and tastings delightful.

Classy, spacious, modern Italian restaurant in the Como Centre. Very hospitable, honest and polite service. The food is good and decent portions. God value for money. Wine list has room for improvement - choice of housewine lowers the standard of this restaurant, which has potential to be great. Comfortable seating - great for business lunch or dinner, or for a date before or after a movie at the Como.

Approximate cost: $27
