While this place is a good high end streak restaurant I would rather have a pub steak than eat steak here. However their other dishes are interesting and innovative. The duck is interesting but not necessarily amazing, and the trout and lobster dish is great.
Kendo is an interesting little cafe in Toowoomba. Not exactly quirky, but still with a few flourishes.
Now my problem is that the cakes are small, but the meals are big. So it is not my favourite place for cakes, but it is great for a filling meal (try the very Irish Nachos..ha ha).
Nice little cafe with both city sophistication and country charm (this is where a lot of country and small town cafes are heading).
The menu might look a little boring, but order off the specials menu. The cakes are good, which is why I go there, but some friends grab a meal as well.
A generic Chinese takeaway place selling generic, Australianised Chinese food. The dishes to go for here are the noodles. The fried noodles are not too bad and the Hokkien style noodles are pretty good too. This is a cheap way to fill up.
The Golden Ox sounds like a place to go for steak, but actually it is a better place for seafood. The platters are famous and the name comes from the location on Oxley Ave (rather than serving Oxen, which while nice, is a fairly bland meat).
We had seafood and the recommended wine (which was well matched), but they have a pretty good array of cocktails that make me want to come back for those (I don't think they really have share platters that are suitable to enjoy cocktails with though).
Just your basic Italian food. All the dishes you know, with no interesting surprises. It is good food, but nothing exciting. It is not as expensive as some, yet still have the dishes you find in more expensive Italian restaurants. But when I eat out, I want to be excited by what is on my plate.
There are several places to dine at the RSL. The restaruant is mid-priced ($20-$30 mains) and is a pretty good feed. The cafe provides something cheaper and is better for family feeds.
To be honest, when it comes to the restaurant there are better places to eat in Bongaree and the area in general, so I would skip that next time, but the cafe is one of the best cheap dining options in town.
Of course, the reason to come here is the music on weekends.
Bribie island can seem a little boring and uninteresting, but then you pop into the Blue Anchorage and your realise that this is a special place.
Now on Bribie I would rather have fish & chips at a place like Scoopy's (Cheap and basic), but if you want a steak or, as we enjoy a seafood platter (or even a tower), then this is where you come.
Coffee and beautifully presented food. The burgers of course don't look like anything special, but nearly everything else has had time and effort put in to make it look beautiful.
They have all your favourites like burgers, waffles and smashed avocado on toast, but they manage to make it all a little different and special. Worth checking out.
This breakfast and lunch place, specialises in wraps (I guess for the office lunch crowd grabbing and going), but does much more than that.
For breakfast you can grab a breakfast wrap or have one of their great breakfasts. Not sure about fried rice for breakfast, but things like mince on toast or a big breakfast that is more innovative than the normal bacon and eggs.
A bit pricey for takeaway though, but good for a sit down meal.
