Always a good place to drop in to with friends the scenery is so serene and picturesque surrounding the shop. Good luck getting a table on weekends though because this place gets seriously busy and for good reason. The shop is quite small and boasts a very rustic charm, with just a few tables you need to get in quick or pick a less busy day to come and have coffee or sample the to die for cheese platter. I always get one to share between a friend and I and with a coffee it's seriously just the right amount of food though there are also some lovely local cakes, biscuits and tarts just incase you can fit anything more in. Other then that there isn't any other food on offer to order, other then the produce they sell.

There is a great variety of cookware, gifts, wine and mostly local produce you can spend plenty of time perusing it alone. We always make sure to try anything new we see to as the lovely ladies will usually give you a little free tasting at the counter. A favourite of mine is the goat's cheese ash triangle it's simply divine.

This is a great place to stop when travelling around the Valley. The location is just off the Melba Highway so definitely not out of the way.

Don't expect to see cows being milked or cheese being made. But if you doubt the authenticity of the working dairy just take a breath of air perfumed by the cows in the paddock next to the carpark. Fortunately this smell does not follow you into the store/cafe.

The Dairy store does have a great selection of the cheeses that are made right there on the farm. Mostly the dairy deals with soft cheeses made from cows or goats milk. Their cheese sampler plate is highly recommended and really should be split between 2 people (even enthusiastic eaters). It comes with 4 cheeses and a plateful of various bread and crackers (tell your dining partner to avoid the olive bread because you're going to want all of it for yourself, so delish)

If you order more than one plate the staff at the dairy try to give you a good mixture of the cheeses they offer so fewer double ups.

The dairy store also sells produce from around the valley like wines and jams. Try the licorice ice cream from the freezer section if you still have room after all that cheese.

Approximate cost: $30

Seriously - the most AMAZING cheese in the whole world! I first came across their beyond delicious Persian Fetta at a festival a few years ago, and now go more than out of my way to get my hands on it. Even a diagnosis of lactose intolerance hasn't stopped my purchase and consumption of this product. Their Goat's cheese is pretty yummy too.
I have only been to their actual farm once, mostly just buy the product when I come across it, but both the farm and product are truly brilliant, and wonderfully unique. Even better, in my experience, the prices are competitive when compared to supermarket type brands, but way better quality, so it isn't like you are going to be paying super high prices just to be able to access it. I can rarely justify those type of things, if it is significantly cheaper in the supermarket, I will likely buy it in the supermarket. YVD cheese doesn't cause that kind of issue. Except for me when I do buy it I buy large quantities, so I guess I do end up spending lots of money :-)

What an experience! It is like a cafe with coffee, wine and most importantly cheese. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Lunch consisted of a cheese platter of four cheeses and a relish (and breads), smoked trout and olives and coffee. Absolutely wonderful. This place needs to be experienced, words can not describe it adequately.

This is a great place to stop off at if you are doing a tour of all the wineries in the yarra valley. They sell the best cheeses I've tasted and also stock some from sheep and goats which is good if like me you are allergic to cow products. You can also do a taste test of the cheeses or sit and order a coffee and lunch. Nice setting with goats/sheep wandering around outstide the windows.
