The food here is delicious, if a bit pricey. And the service, unless you an older, rich-looking person, is condescending and stand-offish. I felt unwanted from the moment I arrived.
The coffee is drinkable, but made old style (think cappuccino with bad, bubbly froth scooped on top.) They need to evolve, as great espresso coffee is something so many are coming to want and expect.

For me, true customer service is defined not by whether or not something goes wrong, but how it is dealt with when it does.

In essence this covers our experience at Timeless Way yesterday.

I decided to treat the better half and I to a nice relaxing Sunday late-brunch/lunch which almost became an afternoon tea.

We settled on Timeless Way as we had an Entertainment Book voucher and figured we'd give them a try.

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our seat and took a coffee order whilst we perused the menu.

The coffee arrived promptly. It was a little different to anything I'd experienced before in that my Latte was delivered with the frothed milk in the glass (which may have had a hint of cinnamon) and the shot of coffee in a seperate jug which I then added to the milk. I liked the idea as it caters for those who may not like a particularly strong beverage.

The waitress came back and took our order, my wife opted for the Roast Turkey Crepe and I opted for a Tramezzini and asked her to choose the filling for me between the Roast Turkey or the Chicken Mayonaise option.

She was happy to do so, and took our orders off to the kitchen whilst we enjoyed our coffee and waited for the food. And waited. And waited. And waited. After around 45 minutes, we were approached by a very apologetic waitress who informed us that there had been an error made in the kitchen and our meals would be out very soon. She also advised us our coffee would be complimentary due to the unacceptable delay.

It was a little disappointing that the error wasn't picked up sooner, but at the same time, we probably should have spoken up as well. It also would have been nice to have been offerred another coffee or some water whilst we waited.

When the food came out, it looked amazing, though the Tramezzini filling preferences seemed to have been lost in translation somewhere as I received the Cajun Chicken filling rather than the Chicken Mayonaise or Roast Turkey options I'd asked for. By this time I wasn't going to send it back though. When I mentioned the error, the waitress again handled the situation well.

When we finally tucked in to eat the food, I would say it was actually worth the wait. The Cajun Chicken had just the right amount of spiciness (after I'd picked out the Semi Dried Tomato that deterred me from that option in the first place) and my wife's crepe was amazing.

On the whole, the food was excellent, the prices were fair and even though we had to wait a long time due to an error in the kitchen, the staff handled the situation admirably.

We will certainly be returning there in the future.

When in doubt as to what we want to eat in celebrating something my better half and i for some reason or other often choose a champagne breakfast. There is something indulgent in this and surrounding diners will often ask us as to what we are celebrating. On Saturday we arrived late at Timeless way which was very busy. We were shown to table right below a heater but later moved to accommodate a large group of young French students who obviously wanted to eat together.
Our charming waitress [dutch] thanked us profusely for our change of table and took our order which was the island breakfast. The owner
then came and chatted for a while and he fetched us our bubbles which he served correctly
by resting it on a slurry of melting ice in a proper ice bucket. This seems to be a lost art as most modern restaurants put ice in a bucket and if the ice isnt melted only the glass bottom of the bottle gets chilled. As every dish is individually prepared and cooked at this establishment we were prepared for a bit of a wait which is understandable. When our dishes arrived we were not dissapointed. The poached eggs were steaming hot and everything else was grilled in a very healthy way. Lrge mushrooms, haloumi, and the best chorizo i have ever had outside of Spain. Two slices of hot wholewheat toast also arrived in a basket and wrapped in a linen cloth to keep them warm. At $16 a plate the meals are not the cheapest but the quality is superb and the attention to detail is beyond compare. We were told that they have been open for 8 years and will be opening in Kingston in the near future. Well done to the owner and his eclectic team.

Approximate cost: $15/$20 odd

Had breakfast here with a group from work. Food was good, bacon, eggs, sourdough, spinach, tomatoes all cooked well and served sensibly - not small meals on huge plates, as you get some places. Coffee and was nicely flavoured.
Service was very good, the waitress was very patient with several members of our group arriving in dribs and drabs, some up to half an hour late (think it helped that we go there often and are well known!)

They're a bit funny about bill payment though - only one bill for the table, which is understandable, but another member of the group who goes there more often said they don't like to give change??!! I wasn't the one who paid the bill at the end, so didn't investigate this further.

They're a bit unimpressed if you can't give them exact change when paying for coffee, I have noticed that. I know they're not a bank, but neither am I! Sometimes the smallest note I have is $20, and if they can't change that for a $6 cup of coffee, then perhaps they need to review their cash management strategies.....
