I love their decaf coffee here - it's roasted onsite and tastes delicious (not burnt sludge like other places) - I even buy a take home pack to put through my machine and plunger. I love the smell of the Café as I walk in and I love sitting watching the world float by - a very nice place hide and drink coffee :)

Bean Barn is definitely more about the coffee and tea experience - i.e. the caffeine buzz. When I've been there, there has been little in the way of food or snacks to buy, which is disappointing. It means that if I need food as well, I don't go to Bean Barn.

The service is courteous with very little waiting time. The cafe area is comfortable and I usually have no trouble getting a seat.

There is a wonderful selection of coffee beans and tea to purchase. The aroma when one walks through the door is delicious.

The cafe is on Sturt Street, so there is the issue about parking around the area. I am more inclined to combine my Bean Barn visits with other shopping trips and errands.

Well worth it, if you only need the beverage or if you want to stock up on some coffee or tea for home.

the coffee they have there are one of he best in the Ballarat area. they change the coffee beans they use time to time . and you can also buy the beans from them and when you do they grind it all up for you so its ready to use when you get home. here at Bean Barn to me there is never a need to ask for a double shot , because the coffee is already strong enough ,to me its the perfect. the staff who work there are very friendly and they are always up for a chat about coffee. They can answer your questions about the selections of the coffee beans they have. Its the one place you must try at less once , but me ... I am there at less 2 times a week for a takeaway coffee or sometimes I just chill inside with a friend or two. I recommend this place anyone who has a love for Great Coffee or just want to have a taste of what great coffee should taste like

Fantastic quality coffee, and great service and knowledgeable staff.

Don't bother if you want syrup infused American style giant lattes like Starbucks or Gloria jeans, just good honest coffee.

Approximate cost: $3.8

Went here a few years ago and will not return. The owner insists his coffee is so good that you do not need sugar, and in fact tries to stop you 'ruining' his brew with it.

The first time I went in I was a bit stressed which clearly showed. The owner (a man at least 20 years my senior at the time) came around the counter to give me my coffee then grabbed my face and kissed me on the forehead. I found this very disconcerting and awkward, particularly given I had never met him before and had not insinuated or given permission for my personal space to be invaded. I thought this was bizarre and inappropriate, even if he might have thought he was trying to improve my day.

The coffee was average.

Yes he has a reputation for being sleazy... the coffee is ok, not awesome, and the staff are uneducated and can't find things on the shelf that they should know about. I want to love this place, but it just misses too many points. :(

Kimw12 and Shooshiem: Unfortunately, you are both correct in relation to this man’s demeanour. It seems as though he believes he has built his own miniature empire of which he (erroneously) assumes himself to be God’s gift to the opposite sex. He is indeed mistaken. Even though we had access to a handful of ‘free’ beverages, we chose not to use them because of this fact. We even tried to give them away (to a friend) but it turned out that she shopped visiting for the same reason.

The man who served me was very friendly he said if you don't think the coffee is good, which happens so often in many cafes,he will make me another one!No need it was good, this is a great offer as coffees are not cheap and why should we pay for weak or too hot coffees?! good one

Amazing coffee and great staff! Wandered in after having a disappointing coffee down the street and discovered the friendliest, most helpful staff. We now order our coffee beans from them and we live in Melbourne!

used to be the place where i'd go to get my coffee from. it had a cool vibe and the coffee was fantastic. now the standards have slipped and i got a cup last time i went that tasted like dirty dishwater. nasty and expensive.

Approximate cost: $3.50

Often stop by to pick up a coffee on the way to work from the Bean Barn.
The savoury muffins are great, spinach, sun-dried tomato and feta's my favourite, I grab one and heat up for lunch later in the day.
