Being voted best Thai in Sydney for four years drew us in to eat here. They also had a table for us without a reservation as it's a huge restaurant. The staff is the best thing about this place - they're so attentive - maybe a little bit TOO attentive! The food was great, our table had the Pad Thai, Red Curry and Pineapple Rice - all of which were really good!

This is the first choice for Thai restaurant everytime I go for dinner with friends in Newtown. Great food and excellent service. It doesn't take long for your food to arrive and not to mention unlimited rice. The staff makes sure you are served well.

Very good doesn't quite to this place justice. It's a winner of best restaurant or something 4 years running, so it's got to keep up its reputation.
So get there and get seated promptly. There are ample staff to take out orders and ensure we have everything we need in a timely fashion. Orders are taken quickly and food is served promptly.
Loved the service though. They would always have this sense that I was almost out of rice and be there just in time to serve me another serving.
Got to the point I wanted to tell them they were lax for not topping up my rice, but I never got the chance!

Great food, great service, bustling atmosphere. Good for big group dinners. They seem to have been able to keep up their standard for years and years now too.

Thai Pothong was introduced to me by my brother, who is a chef. I wouldn't have investigated this restaurant myself, as the prices are half as much again compared to other local Thai restaurants. However, I was very pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend it to others. I discovered top quality food, service and presentation. The atmosphere is also great. Make sure you ask for the wait-staff's suggested dishes and try something new. Thai Pothong is worth that bit extra for a special dinner date when you want everything to be perfect and relaxed.

My hens night was held here and we had a ball. Lovely personal touches like tying helium filled balloons to the chairs, discreet friendly service which was quick too. Magnificent food.

Great thai food!! Everything is fresh and so delicious!! Came with a big group of people and we were greatly looked after. I like the gift shop and the coupons they give you to spend at the gift shop!!! Will return!!

It suitable to student to dine there with your friends. Big area to place all of you. Nice Thai food, affordable. Remember to try dessert - Durian pancake there. that was fabulous.

Great food in a really busy, bustling atmosphere - a great setting for a big night e.g. birthday party or casual dinner with friends. Service can be a bit hard to get hold of, but they make up for it with friendliness and quality of food.

The food is nice, but the traditional Thai milk tea is a little bit disappointing. The staff are friendly. Although the price is a little bit expensive, it is worthwhile to try this restaurant.
