1 review about Tasmanian Inn

When driving past this inn it is difficult to ascertain what is going on inside ! From the outside it is unpresupposing but my wife who has recently been walking to work has been able to see inside and eventually convinced me to give it a try. We went in tonight thursday and i was pleasantly surprised by the standard of refurbishment which had been lavished on this old establishment. The decor is eclectic but definitely leaning to "art deco" while the furnishings is again difficult to pinpoint as it is a mixture of old sumptious couches and arm chairs in the sitting/lounge area but the dining area consists of bare hard wood tables. The art work adorning the walls is tasteful and unobtrusive.Safe to say the whole inn is well done and it all works to such a degree that i began to worry that the food might fall short. I need not have. My wife and i both ordered the braised lamb at $15 dollars a plate and we werent dissapointed. The lamb is served on excellent mashed potatoe with an equally excellent gravy but the veggies didnt pale in comparison. A generous portion of caulieflower, broccoli, carrots and zucchini were the veg and were all perfectly al dente. Well done to the chef.
As the inclement weather was keeping us in we accompanied the meal with a bottle of Grant Burge merlot [$28] and finished off much later with very good flat whites at $3.50. When we arrived quite a few tables were busy and more people arrived later. We can forsee much busier times ahead for this fairly new eatery. They certainly deserve to be even busier.

Approximate cost: $15
